Around the League Preseason Games Thread

Right, Waddle injury didn't look good. Player rolled up his legs -
As others noted, I trust McDermott and Frazier the most with secondary valuations. Last season, our dline underperformed. We upgraded for sure there, and that will pay dividends for the back 7. I'm less concerned about Levi, but depth like others noted. However, give Dane and Wildgoose a chance. Both were coached well in college, physical corners and have the other intangibles to be good in our defense. Neither is Tre White good, but let's be honest, we aren't replacing Tre with anyone cut at this point, or later, if Tre would to get injured. Dane could replace Levi, yes a downgrade now but he is more than capable. Our dline plays like they should, and Tremaine/Milano rebound, then our defense will be much improved. Now if someone unexpected is let go, then I agree we should keep options open. But I see it unlikely

He said if we lose Allen or Diggs, season down the tubes. Hottest take ever -

Agree on Stevenson, I was responding to another poster who thought Belichick would cut the back who fumbled. Taylor looks to be the odd man out, if you guys keep 4 RBs. Regarding Allen or Diggs, pretty sure you could say that about any explosive offense (substitute Rodgers/Adams, Mahomes/Hill or Kelce, etc?). Not pretending to judge Jones after 2 preseason games, 1 against one of the worst secondaries in the NFL. But NE will be competitive, bc of their defense and ability to pound the rock. -

That was Stevenson who fumbled, and I'd be thrilled if they let him go. He's looked like a good find so far. Agree, NE has a strong stable of backs and 1 good one will likely be cut or.traded -

Jj Taylor looked impressive. If Pats keep White, Michel, Harris and Stephenson at RB, might be a good option for us to consider. Taylor would offer a backup return man role and a different type of back for our offense. Already debate about whether to keep Taiwan, I just don't like that he doesn't offer much at his true position (rb). -
Great analysis Alpha. Nothing against Jones, but I'm hoping they find another gunner/core ST guy who can contribute elsewhere on GameDay. For those poster advocating for Jones, let me ask this question: Do you think we dress 4 RBs (5 if you count Gilliam as a FB) on Game Day? Because last year we didn't do that at all, and I'd prefer Motor, Moss, Brenda, and Gilliam be the active backs.

Training camp media and practice 8/15
MasterStrategist replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thanks Yolo. Stefon and Josh can be bubble wrapped for the next couple weeks, and that would be fine with me. Their chemistry is already off the charts. Get them a few days of work before Week 1 and all set -
My take: In: Sweeney, Stevenson, and Dodson Out: Lewis, Obada or Addison (I think it's tough to keep 11 DL, will likely try trading someone), and Smith Reasons: 1. Stevenson might be too difficult to stash, and his speed is something we are lacking 2. Sweeney is our best blocking TE, and some potential to keep developing 3. Dodson looked very solid, it will be a tough call who they like at the #4 and #5 spots (Makatevich ST play makes him a lock) 4. Neal is more a nickle corner than safety and is our backup to Taron. I don't think we have luxury of keeping Lewis (he is more replaceable than Stevenson) Josh Thomas also impressed me, him vs Hamlin for that 4th safety spot should be good competition. I'm a big Hamlin fan, being in the Pitt area, got to see him and Dane play alot. Going to be tough cuts again. Hopefully sneak Thomas, Smith, Hodgins, and Lewis onto the PS

Former Brown and Jacksonville Jaguat, ILB Joe Schobert traded to Steelers. Good pickup for them. Maybe concern for Steelers that Devin Bush isn't fully recovered, and/or Vince Williams retiring with only Spillane left to fill in.

There's a free app to download and play against others, or against computer. Good way to learn. It's a 3-player version, typically I've played with 4 ppl. But yes, it's the exact type of game to play if you like a mix of strategy and luck (dice rolls).

Yep, hamstring. No details on the extent of injury yet, but unless it is super minor, very likely they will rest him until Week 1. 1. 2-3 weeks of rest and light rehab: takes us to Aug 31st 2. Aug 31st-Sep 7th: ramp up rehab and strength/conditioning 3. Full go/practice week leading up to week 1 All speculation on my part, hope it's more minor. Agree with Yolo, will need another RB until Wade or Moss returns

If we keep Hodgins, it's protecting for a Sanders/Beasley injury. If we want insurance policies, it better be at WR bc our offense is predicated off the passing game. It would also be thinking a year ahead, when Sanders and possibly even Beasley/McKenzie may be gone. All based on Hodgins having a great preseason. Hoping he or Stevenson shines in preseason, make for a nice problem

Great analysis. Agree with most, including all starters. I think biggest decision comes down to the Dline. 11 guys worth keeping, do we keep them all? 10 is safe, 11th guy needs to stand out in camp_preseason. If we keep 11 DL, then I'd only keep 5 LBS. Use the extra roster spot for a young standout, my guess would be Hodgins.

As many said, Edmunds hasn't produced like Leonard to this point. Potential is there and we have him locked up through next season. It makes sense for both sides to play this year out and then see what happens. As much debated, many think he's run of the mill. While others, like myself, think he is already top 3 in AFC and potential to be the best. Many factors last year, injuries and overall poorer play up front. I'm thinking he will good for 2-3 Ints, 3 sacks and a couple FFs and recoveries this season. That's the bar I'm hoping he hits and consider that top level play, in terms of impact plays

Seems you know someone personally connected to Terry or past business. Or maybe I'm misinterpreting your posts. Regarding Sean and Brandon, weird comment by you. Not sure many coaches and GMs are thought more highly of right now, they are both top 5-10. Turning a franchise around isn't an easy task and on top of that, the character and leadership they bring is off the charts
