The way I see it Benford was being talked about as one of the best performers all camp. Not just for being a rookie, but in general one of the best players in camp. This is why it's important to have volume drafts. First round hit rates are much better, but there are a lot of lower picks, including the two all pro safeties, that are day 3 pick stars. Sometimes people get too caught up in draft position.

What is everyone doing for food for tomorrows game?
Udubalum07 replied to Scott7975's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm doing wings, brats, jalapeno poppers, and beer to wash it down. Then probably have like ten tums tonight. -
Not mad anymore, but definitely felt they were the best team and missed the opportunity for a super bowl.

Full Chris Simms Visit with Josh Allen
Udubalum07 replied to Giuseppe Tognarelli's topic in The Stadium Wall
Thanks for sharing. To parrot some others, this was one of the best interviews I've seen. Josh is an incredibly bright guy, and Simms does a great job with getting details out of him. -
Keeping 3 qbs is really surprising. I don't think Barkley would have been picked up.
-
You can see Josh working on ball placement with that throw. Up and away so he could box out a defensive back so they wouldn't have a chance.
-
If this draft class ends up with a starting corner, big play rb, starting mlb, starting slot and a starting punter. This would be a great draft class.

Are media still allowed to attend today or is it completely closed to public and media?

Just put Brady's brain because of experience into Josh Allen's skills, and I think that would be the perfect QB. I think Allen could get there on the mental side, but just has about 20 years less of experience.

Epenesa, Ford & Moss -Are they outta here?
Udubalum07 replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think they hold onto all three. Cody Ford will be cheap guard depth and Moss, I hope, can become a sorry yardage back, and offer some pass pro, not anymore than that. I watched Expenses a lot in college. I'm hoping I see not of what I thought he could be this year. Something like 6 sacks would be big. -
This situation was much different than Stallworth. Stallworth was barely over the legal limit. Was not going over the speed limit, and it was a pedestrian that jumped out between two cars. The rule was that if he hadn't been over the legal limit, he would have had no responsibility. There were bystanders that said it was 100% the pedestrians fault, much different than the story of the bystanders amount above. Ruggs would be serving jail time regardless if he was drinking or not. Him being way over the limit will add charges and more time to the sentence.

Coming from Colorado, and I follow the program closely, this doesn't surprise me at all. His last stint of actually calling plays was when he was the OC there. Their offense was terrible and very unorganized. Many false start and alignment issues, the team lacked talent, but was also not well coached. They only lasted two years, he probably has leaned a lot since those years from Reid, but these comments are very similar to what was said at Colorado as well from a personality standpoint.

Good breakdown, the only thing I would change is at safety. I think Hamlin is the one probable to make the team and Johnson will be fighting for a spot. I believe Hamlin will be starting if not next year for Poyer, then it would be the following year for Hyde.

If just one of the early defensive end picks make a jump, we will see a much better defense against the better teams. Against some of the better offenses, it seemed like we didn't have a chance unless the offense scored at least 30+.

Rd 6 pick 185 (6): CB Christian Benford, Villanova
Udubalum07 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
In reading some of the scouting reports, I wonder if he is someone that they feel can be like Hyde or Power. Both played corner and college and turned into NFL safeties. They were also both later round picks. -
I really liked Booth in the tape I have seen, but I trust McD. I'm just happy they went corner. It is the biggest need, especially since I don't think we will see a truly healthy White until late next year, hopefully just before playoff time.

My cousin's son actually plays with him at Iowa State. Good kid, really good player, but with that said I wouldn't take him unless he somehow fell to them in the 2nd. It has to be either we or cb in the first, especially with the money being thrown around at those positions.

I think the thing with Tua is that everything will have to be perfect for him to succeed. He can't cover up any weakness. All parts of the offense have to be really solid offensive line, run game, and receivers. He doesn't take chances in tight windows. It worked at Alabama when he was always throwing to wide open guys while in the pocket with great protection. As soon as you get him off his spot, he really struggles with making any improvisational plays. He's fine as long as he can sit in a clean pocket and make simple reads.

A poor man's Patterson (Laviska Shenault Jr.)
Udubalum07 replied to filthymcnasty08's topic in The Stadium Wall
I watched him a lot in college. He has some definite ability. He has had terrible QB play, and if he can be had for a 6th, it is worth the flyer. Getting Diggs working with him, he would be able to improve his route running. Gabe Davis has improved a lot in two years, Shenault could do the same. He is a more quiet and humble personality, and would fit in well here. -
Star released. Pre-6/1 per Joe B, $1.5M cap savings.
Udubalum07 replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
In terms of doing it now instead of post June 1st, I think has a lot to do with JA's contact. He is still a small cap hit this year. Goes up a lot next year, and this way Star doesn't count anything against next year's cap. Plus Bean said he doesn't like to rely on post June cuts unless he has to. -
I would prefer if we could get a 2nd for Tremaine and draft Chad Muma. Much more of an instinctive, playmaking middle linebacker. Use the cap savings to sign Chandler Jones.
