Are you kidding me?  He doesn’t know our record?  Speechless.

It’s such a joke. Right.  You can’t make it up.  Embarrassing.

You wanna fire the head coach mid season? Who on the current staff replaces him? If you fire both Dorsey and McDermott, you’ve fired both coordinators. After the season? Fire away.

I agree.  I would wait for end of season. But the rebel in me wants them gone now.

I feel the same way. I’ve been watching for 45 years. I just got thru being all excited for this team during the pre season and the first part of the regular season. I can’t sit here and watch another season go down the drain just to start the whole process over again next season.

And this is exactly the reason why I am done with this coaching staff. That last drive New England scored on has epitomized Sean mcdermotts entire tenure here.

Major weakness is still there and not going to change, but I'll say it:  McBeane are the primary issue.  Why?  Because their vision of NFL football with a franchise QB has not changed much since Josh elevated his play.

McD still loves his defense too much for a HC originating from that side of the ball.  He can't help himself to add another DLineman that supports his demand for an ultra deep DL.  Every year they have to add another 2-3 UFAs there at rates above market value.  They can spend another 10M+ on Floyd, Ford, Phillips, but shudder the thought of adding a better WR2.  It's been rare the offense was a priority in UFA when relatively proven veterans were available.

And their drafts haven't been stellar either.   Too many 1st-3rd round picks that have been pedestrian or underwhelming which forces them to go UFA shopping which impacts their cap.

Lot of people here always talking individual position improvement, but I'm waiting for the HC and GM to start getting better in off-season decisions.

    This 100 percent.

There are many things more important than the Buffalo Bills. I've invested my life in pursuing them. At the same time, I have also spent untold hours thinking about and rooting for the football team from Western New York. I've been a fan for over fifty years. I'd like to see a SB win in my lifetime. Aside from trolls who I despise because of their dishonesty and the fact that they exist to dump on the team and fans of that team, I believe one should tolerate the full spectrum of genuine fans. A fella like Scott Law tends to see the flaws, but he's a real fan (not a Jets fan in disguise) -- and he's often correct in the flaws he recognizes. There are others who see the positive. Logic usually makes a good case for why there is hope. Neither is wrong.

At this particular moment, I'm disgusted with our recent playoff performances. I feel we are wasting Josh Allen's early prime and Stefon Diggs mid to late prime. Frazier does appear a liability in the post-season. The drafts have been mediocre, too many resources have been poured into a defense that underperforms when it counts most and Josh has not been given the weapons and especially the oline protection that would maximize his capacity to play well and contribute to winning a SB. You want to call that assessment toxic, have at it. If you're bored enough, go search my posting history. I'm generally one of those who leans "homer."

Be careful.  Your logical dose of reality is sure to trigger some people.  Sometimes the truth hurts. You sir are spot on.

Its the same thing all season in the game day forum when the team starts to play poorly... the Bills fan complaining gets to ridiculous proportions at times. So much negativity pointed at everyone. We have arguably one of the very best QBs in the league and when he throws an INT he is suddenly trash.

13-3 with one of the best seasons in the NFL and it seems like most fans want to blow everything up like Wrex Ryan was still here. Fire the GM, fire the HC, fire the DC, fire the OC. Trade away top players...

It makes me wonder if these are really Bills fans posting or other teams fans attempting to stir stuff up. Jets, Dolphins, Patriots fans are seriously not happy Buffalo has won the division three years in a row now.  AND, unless those three team suddenly all find a top QB they won't be winning the division any time soon.

We have Josh Allen, just keep smiling

And 8 years from now when Josh Allen’s career is over, (if they don’t invest heavily in the line) and they don’t win an afc championship game or make it to a Super Bowl will you still feel the same way?

I don't care if people want to complain and be sad about the loss. I find it childish when fans come on and demand change and make declarations that this coaching staff and this team will NEVER succeed. That's just a bunch of BS.

If people want to talk objectively about what changes the team needs to make, and some do, I am totally happy with that. You can even say you want to move on from McDermott or other coaches and state your reasons, but to get all emotional and attack them ceaselessly is just childish. And the statements of finality are silly.

This was not the last chance the team is going to have to make the superbowl.

And there is a lot of FALSE statements being made, like McDermott never changes, or he's a bad coach, or he is unwilling to change the coaching staff. All of that is hysterics and objectively false. Go look at the history of this team under this regime. If you point that out, you get labeled a homer.

Has Sean changed or adapted his defensive philosophy or scheme?  Because clearly against great offenses his defense has been figured out going deeper into the playoffs. It might be good for stat purposes during the regular season, but in the playoffs the past few years his defense has been an abject failure.  Unless Sean makes some changes, the outcome will be the same each and every year.  “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different outcome.”

The people that are ruining it by their constant bitching, and not being happy about the historic moment, should take a chill pill

What exactly do you mean by historic moment?   Because to me winning AFC Championship games, making Super Bowls, winning Super Bowls, etc..  feels historic. This status quo of losing in divisional playoff games with a franchise qb is starting to become unacceptable.  Maybe I’m just old and spoiled but those 4 Superbowl appearances felt historic to me.  Actually quite the opposite with this team. For younger fans I guess it is historic to finally be winning and relevant.  For the rest of us we have been there and done that.  And please don’t confuse “bitching” with asking legitimate questions or having concerns about some of the things that have transpired from the bills early exits the past couple years.

My Free Agency wish list based on Pay Cuts, Released Players, and Contract Restructures, which frees up enough cap space to sign free agents, and re-sign some of our own.

Currently, we’re 20.5M over the cap, and we need around 10M needs to be saved for our 2023 Draft Class.

    RELEASED

Taron Johnson: Cap Hit of 9.2 million in 2023 with a Dead Cap Hit of 5M and a Cap Savings of 4.2M if released. You simply don’t pay that kind of money to a Slot CB.

Siran Neal: Cap Hit of 3.3M with a Dead Cap Hit of 1.1M and a Cap Savings of 2.2M. Neal is a quality special teamer, but just another guy in the secondary. Having said that, he’s not worth the money, and not worth a roster spot

Tim Settle: Cap Hit of 5M with a Dead Cap Hit of 2.7M and a Cap Savings of 2.3M. Going into 2022, we had high expectations of Tim Settle, but never materialized. Settle ended up with only 1 sack this season which is unacceptable and not a good return on our investment.

Isaiah McKenzie: Cap Hit of 2.9M with a Dead Cap Hit of 300K and a Cap Savings of 2.6M if released. It’s time to move on from McKenzie. I can replace him with someone who gets paid similar type of money who’s younger with more upside.

Mitch Morse: Cap Hit of 11.2M with a Dead Cap Hit of 5M and a Cap Savings of 6.2M if released. There’s several big problems with Morse. The man suffered 6 concussions in his career that we know of, and he’s not a good run blocker. It’s time to move on, clear his big contract off the books, and find an upgrade.

    *RELEASED CAP SAVINGS: 17.5M

    PAY CUT

Nyheim Hines: Cap Hit of 4.8M with a Dead Cap of 0 and a Cap Savings of 4.8M if released. I would love to retain Hines as a valuable asset for Special Teams and depth at RB but not at 4.8M. No team will pay Hines 4.8M, especially since this years Free Agent and Draft class at RB is strong. I’d offer Hines 3M.

    *PAY CUT CAP SAVINGS: 1.8M

    RESTRUCTURED CONTRACTS

Josh Allen: This restructure was essentially bound to happen after Allen signed his well-deserved, monster extension in the summer of 2021. The simple restructuring will create 21.5M in Cap Space.

Dion Dawkins: Current Cap Hit of 8.9M with a Potential Cap Savings of 6.3M

Tre White: Current Cap Hit of 8.6M with a Potential Cap Savings of 6.1M

    *RESTRUCTURED CAP SAVINGS: 33M

SALARY CAP SUMMARY: Freed up 52.3M in Cap Space between Releases, Pay Cuts, and Contract Restructures, minus 20.5M Over The Cap, minus 10M for 2023 Draft Class equals approximately 21.8M in Cap Space.

    FREE AGENCY

    S Andrew Wingard: 3M

    (Jordan Poyer’s replacement)

Wingard was a full time safety in Jacksonville in 2021 and emerged as a solid all-around player. In 2022, he was relegated to a reserve/backup role, seeing only 223 snaps. A truly versatile playmaker. Wingard is big and aggressive enough to make plays near the line but was a ballhawk in college as a free safety, when he was teammates with Allen at Wyoming. He feels like the type of lower-priced free agent with upside the Bills would love to develop in a starter role.

    DE Justin Houston: 5.3M (Spotrac)

    (Shaq Lawson’s replacement)

Justin Houston was forced to sign a modest one-year deal with Baltimore and completely outplayed his contract from day one even as a rotational pass-rush specialist with just 400 snaps on the season. Houston’s 18.4% pass-rush win rate and 14.6% pressure percentage were both top-25 marks among edge defenders, and he managed to add 9.5 sacks to his total, which brings him to 111.5 for his career, a top-40 mark all time. For a team looking for a menace on passing downs, Houston is still that guy entering his age-34 season.

    RB D’Onta Foreman: 3.4M (Spotrac)

    Devin Singletary’s replacement

D’Onta Foreman is the featured power RB we so desperately need who will not only upgrade the running game but will make life a lot easier on Allen’s health in short yardage situations to convert first downs, and TD’s in the red zone. Foreman is 6ft and 235 lbs, and runs the 40 yard dash in 4.45 seconds, and is also a perfect compliment to James Cook.

    WR Parris Campbell: 2.5M (Spotrac)

Paris Campbell is young, has upside, and a perfect compliment to Khalil Shakir’s as a Slot Receiver. Paris is also 6ft and 208lbs with 4.31 forty yard dash wheels. He played more games in 2022 (17) than he did in his first three seasons combined (15). Campbell set career highs in all the major categories despite playing with a merry-go-round of quarterbacks in Indianapolis. Campbell has upside. Nyheim Hines, who played with Campbell the past four years before arriving in Buffalo this year in a trade, could also help recruit him.

    RG Will Hernandez: 4M (Spotrac)

Hernandez earned a career-high 79.1 pass-blocking grade in 2022, which ranked tied for eighth among guards. His 3.0% pressure rate allowed ranked 13th at the position, and he held up on true pass sets, as well, ranking top 15 in both metrics. He’s a bit more limited as a run blocker, failing to reach a season-long grade of at least 65.0 over his five-year career, but his above-average pass protection should make him an intriguing target for a handful of clubs.

No.  Am emotional response would be hanging on to someone because you like them and and are willing to dismiss deficiencies out of blind loyalty or  an unwillingness to hold people responsible for fear of offending someone. A business decision would be holding someone accountable and potentially firing someone due to maintaining the status quo or not meeting set goals or expectations over a period time.

Buffalo media is so lazy and inept. Tough questions are NEVER asked. Truly a minor league, likely low paid group. Fans are even worse. When someone does ask relevant, tough questions (Jerry Sullivan) the fans jump on him... Frankly, Sullivan's questions look 100% spot on now!

The problem is people like to sing “the good ship lollipop”.  Any questioning outside of the herd mentality is met with contempt, disdain, and outright ridicule.  You know the proverbial you’re so negative pessimistic bitter antisocial hater etc…. That most never stop to really think if there is credence to an observation or criticism outside the norm. You know what they say “sometimes the truth hurts”.  Unfortunately like in the movie “a few good men”.  You can’t handle the truth.

I think you mean 76th ranked Tackle for Brown.

Still ... horrible numbers (I mentioned this in the bumped Orlovsky thread), and it's not like the eye test disagrees.

One of the other issues: unwillingness to adapt during the season. Saffold started bad, was bad in the middle, and if possible even worse at the end. A sub-replacement level player this year, which means "find some guy on someone's practice squad and see if he can do better." Morris helped us a lot when he got here, but 24th rated Center is out of, umm, 32 starting Centers. Brown is a failed project. I thought that would become apparent early this year. It did, but then Quessenberry was just as bad, so there really wasn't anyone else to turn to. It is a garbage line with only one keeper (Dawkins), and even he is at best a bit better than average.

Seems like a fair assessment.  I pull a kc last year and redo the entire line. Maybe keep Dawkins and move him to rt.

  13. This is exactly spot on.  Our team showed that they were just mentally and physically weaker than the bengals. If you can’t get up for a divisional playoff game at home, then your team has some serious deficiencies.  This malaise has been with us since the Vikings game.  One of the top defenses in football the past 4 years only to get smoked in the playoffs.  McDermott has done a great job establishing culture.  The time is now to move in another direction in order to take the next step.  Enough with excuses. Getting to the playoffs and being happy to get there are no longer enough.
