Curtis Samuel did still sign here right?

It seems like a tough ask to expect Samuel’s and a kid with 5-100 yd games in four years to equal that production.  But technically you are correct. I don’t feel encouraged by that. It appears the front office and many others are though.  Hope you are correct.

Who says Beane is done, in terms of a vet at WR?

    You never know.

God I hope he does. Because getting only Keon Coleman in arguably one of the best wr draft in years and was our number one need in the off-season after letting go of our 1a and 1b starting receivers, feels like front office malfeasance.  Coleman better be as good as they think he is.

He definitely does seem very capable of making catches from any angle and plucking the ball out of the air.

That may be more valuable to the team than separation,

But I gotta tell ya - Allen’s best season came when Daboll was scheming guys into separation.

And this is exactly the reason why I preferred Ladd mckonky. Hopefully he pans out.

My 2 cents is this, watch the tape.  I don't give a damn about the underwear olympics.  The guy gets separation, is physical as hell, quick, catches with his hands and catches a ton that Davis dropped. Also as for as the 40 time, WATCH HIS TAPE.  He has no problem with football speed.

Look Im gonna give this guy a chance, he works his ass off and is very coachable. Listen to how he was when Beane called him. He feels humbled and blessed for the opportunity.  Lets give the kid a chance, I bet he works out ok.

I’m not saying you are wrong.  What concerns me is that in 28 games over his college career he only eclipsed 100 yds 5 times.  He may end up being a great pro.  I just like to see some consistency. 5 games over 100 yards in a span of 4 years is not very encouraging. That comes to 1 game a year over 100 yds in a game.  No where near the production I would expect from the number 33 pick in the draft. He sounds like a project to me.  The kind you take a flyer on in the 5, 6, and 7 round.  I really hope I am wrong and you are correct.

Yep. That is the way to see this pick. We have upgraded on Gabe Davis as WR2. But if you see Curtis Samuel therefore as the Diggs replacement we have significantly downgraded at that spot.

Who knows maybe beane has a trade in place for a dk metcalf type player.  If that is the case I would feel so much better knowing that Coleman is our Gabe Davis replacement and not our number one.

Armchair GMs are the worst.  People act like they know more than Beane and his staff.  It’s laughable

And those who blindly anoint beane as the second coming of Jesus Christ are every bit of insufferable.

2020 we used a 1st rounder to get Diggs. That is using draft capital for offense.

Fair enough.  However I am still underwhelmed with all of the free agents brought in along the defensive line and defensive ends the past 6 years. Maybe three have played up to the level of their contract.  Our draft choices outside of ed Oliver on the line are pedestrian.  This is a scoring league.  The rules favor offense. Josh is a franchise qb. Get him studs across the board. And off to the races. Stop with this complimentary football nonsense and put up points.  Our defense come playoff time, against better offenses can’t hold them anyways.  The philosophy at one bills drive needs to change.

Nice cherry picking over multiple years. Point out BB and his wins along with misses. It is a weak hindsight perspective. If you give balance it makes the criticism you give very fair. Otherwise it’s just not valid.

At that point in time  it wasn’t hindsight though was it. I guess my point is that you are correct that even the great ones get it wrong.  Sometimes being so close to it can sometimes cloud judgement. And because of that people shouldn’t be so dismissive of individuals on this board. There are a lot of people on here who really know their stuff.  This is not an endorsement of myself either. I’m truly amazed at how some people know and understand the x and o of the game. I learn new things every time I am on here. And I have been watching for almost 50 years.

I predict this thread is a gonna be fun read 3 years from now like the "wrong Josh" thread.

Yeah I know right. All of these “stupid” people on here who wanted:

    dk metcalf>cody ford

    creed Humphrey >boogie basham

    brian orkapo >aaron maybin

    holoti ngata> Donte whitner

And then my favorite the trade up for Sammy Watkins when some of us thought it was for  Khalil Mack from ub.

We have 10 draft picks yet a lot of Bills fans think the sky has fallen after 1 stinking round

Especially over 5 draft spots that we received draft compensation for not once but twice.  Sounds like a lot of nervousness, apprehension, and fear of the unknown.  I will let it play out and reserve judgement until then.

The McDonkey dude isn't a difference-maker though. If he's the pick, we still need serious help at WR.

Add in shakir Samuel’s Kincaid, cook and Knox does he really need to be though.  Add in Troy Franklin later in the draft and I am 100 percent thrilled with our receiving room as a whole.
