  1. If your 75 years old, you're 220x more likely to die than someone ages 18-29, so they may feel it's pretty darn serious. If you read a little more closely, you'll see I never said Coronavirus=Ebola. Not even close From a scientific standpoint that's difficult, because you have to be able to definitively categorize what "early" means, especially because the virus reacts differently with different people
  2. The good news is hunting, fishing, and Harley's are on the good to go list. When they come for my beer, that's where I draw the line. Cheers buddy
  3. Maybe never. I agree with you about the vaccine, too. The first flu vaccine was discovered in 1938, and we've managed to get a 10-60% effectiveness since then. In 1976 they rushed a swine flu vaccine that made a good number of people very sick(GBS). I think Oldman is right that our best bet is to create treatments. The health care industry will love that, and it will surely make insurance premiums rise. The mask is pretty essential though. Think of it this way, if you knew there was Ebola in the area would you wear one?? To a 70-80 year old person they may fear it like Ebola. People and the economy do have to normalize. Maybe if people would choose take-out instead of sit down. Have a few friends over instead of going to the crowded dive bar. Open theaters, events and gyms, but implement safety measures. Have different school shifts. It's just a fact people may have to compromise, but Americans hate that. Maybe think of it like Great Britain during WW2. People had ration cards. They weren't allowed to get gasoline or have lights on, etc.
  4. For the same reason that you sneeze into your elbow when your sick. To me it is utterly ridiculous to think that running around spitting in each others mouths wouldn't increase transmission of viruses. People are gonna be stuck on what they believe even if Jesus himself came down, and told them the truth.
  5. They shouldn't have censored the article, but didn't they already do an investigation into this?? It's not like that email is the smoking gun they're trying to pretend it is. I mean honestly, does anyone think that will lead to anything that they haven't already looked into? If anything the only jar of worms it opened was the the way it was discovered. I'm sure the FBI has some questions about that.
  6. Dude, why do some of you have to so horribly exaggerate everything. Wallowing in fear. PANICKING. Maybe, just maybe there's a reason to be somewhat alarmed that it's the 3rd leading cause of death in America, and 1 in 7 people who die will die of Coronavirus. You keep plugging away with your 99.9999% chance nonsense. It's like taking the deep dive into sports statistics to prove a team doesn't suck when they're 2-12. Oh ya, I forgot about the long term effects that we don't even understand yet, and the fact it has a very real possibility to mutate into a much, much deadlier strain
  7. I feel for you brother. Not only is it very time consuming, but having to babysit people on top of all your own personal problems is very taxing. Very very rarely does self-moderating work. I hope you find a solution for you and everyone's sake.
  8. That's my problem with modern economies is that we invented machines to make life easier, but the 'easier' it gets the less people have ways to earn income. Well, unless you own the machines. I listened to the whole interview. The FBI will slap this guy once to get him to talk, and 10 times to shut him up. Real interested to hear what he has to say.
  9. If you prefer the word reluctance, I'll use that instead. I like to fish, so I have a Covid safe hobby to keep me from Covid blues. I disagree with your assessment, but respect your right to your opinion.
  10. Yes. This thread will be great for a club. It has zero substance, but we can all feel cute by making stupid predictions.
  11. A club by definition is just that. It wouldn't be about politics, it'd be about reaffirming what you already believe. The whole principle of politics is to have varying opinions. Clubs are basically the inverse of politics. I, like Frankish have no need or interest in a club, because I get my own news, which is pretty much all a club would be good for. I'd maybe browse it, and occasionally add to someone's point. I've learned some things from people with opposing views here, but rarely post, because people are too coarse.
  12. This is true, and it will certainly lower costs, but poor health has become its own industry. We'd lose tons and tons of jobs. It's kinda the equivalent of if we stopped war.
  13. Can we look at this from a practical perspective, based on what we'd all call our own anectodal evidence. Would one be more likely to get the flu from someone standing right in front of us coughing and sneezing if they weren't wearing a mask? I mean it seems to be basic knowledge that when a person is hacking and coughing you have an aversion to that, especially when you feel the spittle and aerosol landing on your face. Also, you'd not want to touch what they touched, and you'd try to maintain a distance from them. Has this all just been some wives tale, or just something we know to be true. I mean in the end, I'd err on the side of caution that I may reduce the risk of causing someone else to die by wearing a mask, even if it's not comfortable. It seems to be just pure stubbornness
  14. Can you show me your data?
  15. I think it would be easier to list all the doctors who believe mitigation measure don't work. Plus they're easy to find, because they all live in Alabama, and they think Jesus is gonna solve it.
  16. I have no clue what this even implies?? So no one died of Covid. It really is a hoax?
  17. He said good hand washing, distancing, and masks. How does that cause damage. Serious question, why does the workplace not want you to come to work when you're sick? It's so you don't infect the whole workplace. It's called mitigation, and people have been doing it for a long time.
  18. I 100% agree with this, but people expect a magic pill to solve all their problems. The Spanish flu got eradicated.
  19. I want them to take the time to do it properly. I'll maintain other measures until I feel it's safe I googled zinc Coronavirus and got 25 million results, so it's not like anyone's hiding it, but I agree they could promote it more. Unlike drugs like hydroxy it really can't hurt you
  20. So you're saying that entering a room that a person with the flu is in gives me the same chance of getting sick as if they coughed and sneezed directly on my face?
  21. I've always taken supplements, even though I'm relatively healthy
  22. I agree. The vaccine has become politicized and economized. Now when it comes time to get it, no one will trust it. Brilliant. I know I won't be the first one to take it.
  23. That is a personal choice. In America were allowed to give ourselves chronic inflammation. On the other hand negligence is criminal. Btw, I have a health care background, and have taken classes/labs.
  24. Neat. Just in time for the opening bell on Friday after Trump said he would make Republicans vote for a big stimulus.
  25. It's important to remember that the 1918 flu mutated from one in March that made you feel like regular flu to one that killed you within 24 hours after your first sneeze by September. Soldiers returning home spread it globally. That's why we have to remain wary(or panicky as you call it)
