I was done with it before impeachment. There was zero chance in hell he would be convicted, but also zero chance he's ever re-elected. If a president who lost on his Covid response wins after an insurrection, I'll eat a shoe.

According to Trump's defense team, the Democrats should be filing a dereliction of duty impeachment charge, and this time taking more time to gather evidence. So far his own lawyer has said he lost the election, should be criminally charged, and impeachments should have line by line charges. Oy vey! The only problem is he said impeachment is for removal. Well, he decided it would be ok for a president who formed an insurrection to stay in office for another week. One could only beg the question to McConnell, "is it possible he does more damage in the week you let him remain in office?".

Mitch McConnell basically said that he was guilty as hell, but we had to let him go, because the arresting officer didn't read him his rights. To the Republican nutbars that's the equivalent of complete and total vindication. Wayy too many people live in an alternate reality.

I'll give you an example. Hitler killing 6 million jews is worse than an American soldier killing a POW after they killed his buddy. There's clearly a difference there, right?

The most serious crime so far is entering a restricted area. No murder charges at all. I'll put a large wager that the president walks away with a great pension/benefits. Heck, he may even be president again?? We shall see. The justified murder comment is a cheap shot. There's a difference between someone dying for a movement, and someone dying for sheer stupidity. Maybe not for the families involved, but there's certainly a difference.

The major difference is one situation was due to a true injustice, and the other was borne of lies spread to support the will of one evil man.

The cherry on top will be that no one is criminally charged as the ring leader, and those involved get light sentences. No one will be held responsible for the death, destruction, and lasting impact on our country. THIS IS MAGA!

I won't argue Bernie got screwed, probably more than once, but it's still not the same While people were dying, and people were calling their loved ones thinking it may be the last time they talk, Trump was calling to see if the insurrection was getting anyone to change their votes. This call took place DURING THE INSURRECTION. It's like during a car crash worrying about how the car is before asking if your wife and kids are still alive. It's unconscionable, and certainly demonstrates what his intentions were.

People pulling support from a party, because they don't like the way their party handles their candidate is much different than a member of ones own party coercing them with their political clout to do their bidding.

We know Trump did call Senator Tommy Tuberville of Alabama after mistakenly dialing Senator Mike Lee of Utah. Trump called Tuberville not to ask about his safety or to offer assistance, but to discuss a strategy for objecting to the count of electoral votes. Guns still not smoking enough???? None of those situations involved loyalty to one man over absolutely everything. He's basically running a mafioso by threatening to primary anyone who doesn't do his bidding. This is much different.

If they become fragmented they will never win ANYTHING for a long, long time. The idea they can get over half the population to be nutbars is a horrible strategy. it's simply a fact more young people are progressive, and old conservative. If the fact that he cheered on while people were dying/being disfigured/wounded, as the whole nation begged him to help to stop it, doesn't bother you then fine. if you're ok with him telling them they did a great job, and he loves them for what they did, then fine. If you're ok with him tweeting "that's what you get", while children's fathers were dying, then fine. If it really is going to require a video of him with the plans rolled out on a table with him plotting, then that's fine, too. I'm sure you're a real fine individual
