  1. This is my hope as well. With the additions in fA, there aren’t going to be many roster spots available. And 6th and 7th rounders are usually long shots anyways. Package the picks and move up. Draft at 9, move back into the bottom of the first for a player that drops and then try to get two 2nd rounders.
  2. I would love the combo of Hockenson and Wilkins. Hockenson is a complete TE and is a huge position of need. Wilkins seems like a process guy through and through and is highly productive and hungry. To me, this would be a huge haul and would be a win no matter what else happens. And we would still have fourth and fifth round picks to address RB.
  3. I don’t buy this at all. What if Dawkins doesn’t regain his 2017 form? Then we don’t have a viable option. By drafting a tackle you are challenging Dawkins and at worst you have 2 elite linemen. You have to remember that McD is always preaching competition.
  4. Here is the bottom line that cannot be disputed: McD has done NOTHING this offseason to give Dion Dawkins a glowing endorsement as his left tackle. In fact, he’s left the door open quite a bit to improve at the position. That’s why I think Dillard and Williams are very much in play at 9. Dillard more so since he’s considered the best LT prospect in the draft. However, after hearing that the Bills like Williams as a LT, who really knows?
  5. I will say that if Sanders falls to the end of the second, I wouldn’t be shocked to see Beane move back in to take him. I would love it.
  6. Miles Sanders is the RB I want most out of this draft. He is not Saquon but that is ok. He is plenty good enough. He saved himself a lot of “miles” by being behind Saquon and he will be a beast in the NFL. Imagine having him behind two hall of famers for a year!
  7. Yeah...Quentin Nelson was a huge reach...
  8. This is my thought as well. The Bills are said to have scouted ND games heavily this past year. I would suspect the guy they were looking at the most was Tillery. He has proto size and is very disruptive. I could see the Bills going after him.
  9. In this scenario, I think the only two players keeping the Bills from trading down are Jawaan Taylor and T.J. Hockenson. The Bills could finish the o-line for years to come with Taylor and give Allen the best protection possible. Hockenson could provide good blocking and pass catching skills as a safety blanket to Allen. Either one would be a huge upgrade and provide us with a potential pro bowler. I think the Bills have their eyes on Jerry Tillery at 40. Apparently, they have been at a lot of ND games this year and I could see Beane being enamored with Tillery’s size. He loves prototypes. All that said, I hope we trade down and pick up a second 2 or 3. This would allow us to get another potential starter and give us ammo to move around the board.
  10. That would be consecutive drafts that we trade up with the Bucs to draft Josh Allen...
  11. Well it’s funny you would rather have Metcalf. What is he other than a physical freak? He can’t get out of his breaks and doesn’t run good routes. He’s a straight line speedster and that’s about it. I’d rather go after another position in the first and target a WR in the second or third, because this draft is deep at the position.
  12. IMO it won’t be Metcalf at all. This draft is deep at the position and there isn’t much drop off from a Metcalf to the next group. In fact, I would argue that other receivers will be better in the league. TE will probably in happen if we trade down. I’d put money on DE or DT.
  13. It was his reaction to a team rule that is the issue here. He thought he was above the rules. You’re right...clearly not a process guy.
  14. This is the guy I want more than anyone in this draft.
  15. I’m not going to go as far as you and say he isn’t good, but I don’t think he’s a Beane guy. Not in the least. Beane prefers prototypes, which Oliver is not. He also prefers good character, which Oliver showed the exact opposite of on national tv with his hissy fit about the jacket. I’m not worried about Oliver, really, because I think the Bills are just being diligent by bringing him in for a private workout. I would look look more closely at Christian Wilkins, who fits McD and Beane to a t. He’s prototypical, productive, a winner, and has excellent character. Would be a perfect locker room fit and be an immediate fit in this culture.
  16. There are still questions that he was faking the severity of it. He did hurt it, no doubt, but people have questioned whether or not he was ok to play.
  17. Yes. He has a history of injuries. Even if it might not be a long list, there is still history there with the nagging knee injuries. Yeah I don’t think he’s a McDermott guy at all. At this point they have talked to most of the guys they might be interested in and are using these visits up. Kinda like a recruit that is allowed 5 official visits and uses them all up to see different campuses even though they already know where they wanna go. I’m not saying there is no way Oliver won’t be the pick, but I would be very surprised if he was.
  18. Due diligence. You get 30 visits. We have 10 picks. You’re right though...time will tell.
  19. I never said he was always injured. I said his knee issue could be a red flag. Im done arguing with you over this. It’s ridiculous to me that this much effort has been spent arguing over a guy that I feel has no chance of being a Bill. You do though. We each have an opinion. Leave it at that. They get 30 visits. They have met with a ton of guys at the Senior Bowl and combine and now they are meeting with others as well. It’s called due diligence. Just because you are visiting doesn’t mean you are high on a team’s radar.
  20. Never said he was always injured. He had knee issues and then sat out a game but was on the field running around before that game. Yes, I think there is something to be said that he was faking the severity of his injury.
  21. Of course a coach is going to say “coach things” about one of their players. He wasn’t going to just throw him under the bus. However, you can’t ignore what the entire sports world saw in that moment. He literally had to be restrained from his coach because he asked him to take off his jacket and let the players have it. He felt entitled to it and took exception to it. Why can’t you admit that?
  22. Here we go again. Nope. I sent you a link. Ignore it. I see that’s your MO. Doesn’t matter. I’m not worried about Oliver at all because we won’t be drafting him. Not a process guy. Take off your hype glasses and see the big picture. Here we go again. Nope. I sent you a link. Ignore it. I see that’s your MO. Doesn’t matter. Great character, Ed... https://mgoblog.com/comment/243179420
  23. For those of you pining over Oliver, I think you are getting your hopes up for nothing. You can’t ignore Beane and McDermitt’s affinity for clean prospects that fit the culture that they are trying to build. Oliver doesn’t fit that in the least. It’s been well documented that he’s a high maintenance player and there are questions about whether he was faking a knee injury late in the season. Not to mention the hissy fit he threw over the jacket. That stuff can’t be ignored and I’m sure it will all be brought up during his visit.
