I never once boasted that there was no way it would happen. However, with guys like Jeudy, Lamb, Ruggs, and Jefferson, it’s very unlikely that he will be anything more that the fifth one off the board.

Wow. 3rd receiver off the board?! Haha. This is why you can’t be taken seriously. You can’t really believe that can you? Haha

I don’t have a problem with opinions. What I have a problem with is opinions that are presented as fact. Which is what your is. We have no idea what is going to happen or who is going to drop. Every year there are surprises.

Did you think Metcalf would make it to the bottom of two last year? You know...since you know everything...

Any QBs brought in has to come in knowing at best he’s the backup. Josh Allen is their guy...

RB is a really GLARING need, right?
whorlnut replied to Richard Noggin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You say that, but if all we have is Singletary, then the defenses are not going to be scared when Yeldon gets touches. We need a complimentary RB that can carve up defenses when Singletary needs a break. This will open up the passing game. Last year, when Gore came into the game, defenses knew what was coming. Another RB like Singletary would eliminate that predictability. -

They are old, but they are talented and deep. Don’t discount Daryl Johnson. He was a contributor on the team last year when most teams stash 7th rounders on the practice squad or cut them. I don’t think you can say the same about RB. We are a Devin Singletary injury away from Yeldon being our starting RB. Yikes. A previous poster nailed it IMO...Daboll prefers to share the workload and not have a true number 1 RB. Last year, when Singletary should have gotten more carries, Gore would come into the game and we became predictable and we weren’t scary at all. I could see Beane giving Daboll another similar RB with elite skill for the offense to take advantage of. Imagine an offense where you have Singletary and another elite RB confusing the defense and wearing them out. -

I think a trade up is possible if they like someone that is falling. However, I don’t see us trading back into 1 anymore. I thought it was possible a few weeks ago but I think with all that we’ve added so far it’s extremely unlikely. And I would be SHOCKED if we traded up in any round to get a TE in a draft that is very weak at that position. Especially a year after adding Knox, Sweeney, and Kroft. -

I think the top bets for the second round are RB and CB2. We have pretty much stocked up depth at every position, but if there is a need it is a complimentary back to Singletary. The sweet spot in this draft will be round two for RB and I think it will fall right into our laps. I think we could legitimately get someone like Cam Akers/Clyde Edwards-Helaire/or even Jonathan Taylor at that slot. A second stud RB would allow us to keep both backs fresh to really wear out defenses and open up the passing the game. I just have a hard time thinking they are ok going into the season with Senorise Perry and TJ Yeldon as the backups to Singletary. That just doesn’t scare anyone. Likewise, I think a CB2 to compliment White will be a priority, but I’m not sure it’s as big a need as a RB. They signed Norman and Gaines, and already have Wallace. I think that is a little more easy to get by with than what we currently have at RB. -
Right. I think one of the best things the Bills can do for Allen and the passing attack at this point would be to add another potentially elite RB. If we have Singletary and another one of the RBs the previous poster mentioned, we would be unreal. The defense wouldn’t be able to wear down our running game and they would be guessing and allowing our receivers to run clean routes.

No. End thread.

Chris Simms: Five Biggest Winners from NFL Free Agency
whorlnut replied to Thurman#1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Completely lazy. It’s the robotically programmed response and argument when it comes to Allen. But he did improve from year one to year two, so there’s that. Meanwhile, guys like Mayfield regressed horribly but no one really bashes him. It’s all about what you want to believe and how much influence the media has. -

I’ll take the opinion of someone that has experience in the position over draft nerds any day of the week. Other former qbs love him too btw. -

I love how Simms mocks those that complain about Allen. He loves him. It’s refreshing to see someone that actually knows the game talk glowingly about Allen. People need to pay more attention to guys like him and less attention to pre draft write ups. -
That’s cute...

Josh Allen "Prove it" Season In Year 3
whorlnut replied to longtimebillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is more or less the gist of it all. Too many fans listen too much to the media who did nothing but bash him pre-draft and still push their narrative no matter how many games he wins or how much he improves. Meanwhile, doofuses like Sam Darnold get every excuse in the book and the benefit of the doubt for poor play because the same geniuses touted him as the next great qb. Allen was doomed with some of this fan base the day they took him. They wanted Josh Rosen and he was never given a chance. The bottom line is he has won more games than he has lost as a starter so far, has numerous come from behind wins, and his teammates will run through a wall for him. If you can’t love that then I don’t know what the heck to tell ya... -
Darryl Johnson potential...what do we think?
whorlnut replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Just stop. There really isn’t anything wrong with it. Our new defensive line coach is coming from there and is an upgrade over last year. He coached Addison last year. It’s a good move. People look too deep into this Carolina connection. McD was a defensive coordinator on a super bowl team with most of those guys. Good problem to have if you ask me... -

Well, McD states that 21 points should win games with our defense. 19.6 isn’t far off. The point is, I think Daboll and McD need to quit aiming for a certain amount of points and learn how to put their foot in the opponents’ throats when we are up. Too many times (including Houston) we got too cute, predictable, and conservative when we had the lead. It allowed the other team to either come back or make it way more interesting than it needed to be. Excellent point. I completely agree. People complain about Allen never hitting the magical 300 yard mark. Well, conservative playcalling in the second half of games cost him that number on more than one occasion. -

This is a great point and one that I’ve used as well. Morse whiffed too. But either way, there were reasons we lost that game and it’s not all on Allen. -

Great point on Daboll. I have used this argument many times. Allen isn’t the one calling the conservative plays when we have a lead. It’s Daboll who trots out Gore and calls two running plays. I think if we allowed Allen to continue to play the way he was in the second half of the Houston game as the first half, we would have won that game. However, Daboll completely went into prevent and they put it in the hands of our defense who ran into a juiced up Watson. Before Daboll could counter, all the momentum had turned. Then, Allen had to feel like he had to do everything on his own and we all know it fell apart. -

If you are indeed a fan of the Bills, then why are you arguing so hard against Allen? Is it because you have a burning desire to be right that you can’t let it go? We should all want him to succeed, but you are seeming to make it your mission to trash him and tell us all why he won’t. It’s pretty sad. -

I think you are missing the fact that he moved the team down into FG range to tie the game and send it to overtime. And the fact that if Knox or Morse hits a block on the QB keeper in OT that we probably would have won the gMe on a FG. Yes...he had a poor second half. But let’s be honest...the defense let up when Watson started going off and the play calls from Daboll were very conservative. They were definitely playing not to lose, which is not what you want to do in the playoffs on the road.
