  1. So when did Brandon Beane start drafting for need in the first? It’s so funny that most of you are so confident it will be a corner. Beane has never been transparent about anything. Taking the fifth corner off the board just because you need one is a bad use of a premium resource. And mccreary is 5’11”, not 6’2”. He also has sub 30” arms. His best trait is his tackling, but those arms worry me. Don’t want him at all.
  2. I don’t think they will be in trouble at all. Just because a corner goes in the first doesn’t make him a scheme fit. McD is the best coach in the league at developing corners and he knows what type he likes. All the first round guys won’t necessarily fit that mold. That’s why I really think gardner, McDuffie, and Stingley could be the types of guys he prefers. Guys with loose hips and elite traits. These also happen to be guys that will likely be long gone.
  3. This. I think the fact that Beane made the effort to bring mckissic here shows he wants that type of player on the team. If we go into the draft without signing someone else, it’s very much on the table at some point.
  4. This is what I’ve been saying. You don’t take a corner in round one just to take one. It would depend on fit.
  5. Don’t just concern yourself with his Buffalo tenure. He had several late rounders ball out for him Carolina…especially Josh Norman.
  6. My thoughts 100%. We needed a qb for over 20 years and tried to patch that together and make it work with no success. We continually threw crappy resources at that position and all people wanted was defense. We did take a shot at Losman but that was desperation after we didn’t get Ben. And we all know the Manuel thing didn’t work. Other than that, it was retread vets and mid rounders. But…at least we had our defense. Haha. Listen…I realize the need is there for a corner. I’ve also taken the stance that McD is ELITE at getting something special out of every DB he’s ever coached. Anyone think Wallace or Jackson would be where they are at this point without McD? Get a third rounder like Cam Taylor-Britt and he could be a stud in this defense. Resume doesn’t matter when projecting NFL success. While you’re at it…put mayfield’s resume up against Allen’s.
  7. But we HAVE TO take a first round corner…🙄
  8. Great point. I think what is interesting is Beane saw an obvious need and tried to fill it with mckissic. Since he bailed, there hasn’t been an answer to that void yet. Beane very well could try to fill it in the draft. Someone like Hall is worth keeping an eye on.
  9. These are my thoughts too. I’m basing a lot off of how many corners I think will be gone by 25. We shouldn’t take a corner just because we need one. It has to be the right player with the correct skill set and I’m sure Beane understands that.
  10. Elam is interesting and I think he gets lost in the shuffle with the guys at the top. He’s definitely interesting and I’d take him over mccreary or Gordon.
  11. Which is my argument for WR. Show me where on this roster that we have talent on offense that is locked in for cheap? Maybe Brown? Doyle? Diggs will get extended. McKenzie is only on a 2 year deal. Davis might prove himself out of a second contract here if he continues to develop. We can’t back ourselves into a corner in a year or two at WR. We should take one in 1 this year and have him cheap for 5’yeara with a couple years to develop and learn behind our existing Corp.
  12. IMO McDuffie will be LONG gone. And he’s pretty much the only corner I’d be ok with there. Don’t want mccreary or Gordon at all. Booth would be ok I guess. Give me: WR in 1 Guard in 2 Corner in 3 Mcd and his staff is awesome at developing DBs and someone like Cam Taylor-Britt would be really good value in 3.
  13. I agree with the TE and Hall. However, I’m not sure we go DE in any way shape or form after the Miller signing. Not early on anyways. Which is exactly why I say it won’t be corner. There may already be 4 or 5 off the board before we pick. Beane isn’t taking a corner because of need. Not all players are created the same just because they play the same position. It has the be a good fit.
  14. WR. This team’s identity is the passing game. Diggs and Davis…then who else? I don’t think mckenzies signing keeps them from still needing another top WR to take this thing to the next level. We are still missing the speed element long term. If we draft WR in 1, then we are planning ahead a couple years from now when Davis might command big money and McKenzie’s contract has expired. Honestly, Beane could pull a fast one and take Breece Hall at 25. He is obviously looking for dynamic back that can catch and create out of the backfield.
  15. Then you are 100% correct. He would have went way earlier.
  16. Mcgahee had one of the worst ACL tears I can ever remember seeing. His knee was completely destroyed.
  17. Williams or Dotson in the 1st Tariq Woolen in the 2nd highest ranked Guard in the 3rd After that…don’t really care. Not sure what your intent is here, but it’s unfair to compare ACL’s today to ACLs 20 years ago. The technology and recovery times have come a long way.
  18. I agree. He will only fall if there isn’t a good report. If he is ahead of schedule then someone will take him before us. He’s gonna be really good. I think I’d rather have Dotson than olave. Dotson has the best hands in the draft and isn’t afraid of catching the ball in traffic. There are concerns about Olave and his lack of physicality.
  19. Just any corner and only one specific WR? Sorry…don’t agree. You don’t just take a corner in the first because of need. That player has to have the right skill set and be the right fit first and foremost. Waiting until the end of the second is a dangerous spot if you are targeting one specific player. Let the board fall. If a WR you like is there in round one, then take him. Drafting for need is how we ended up with EJ Manuel.
  20. The team could get a corner in the second round or beyond. Why do people always think we need to draft defense in the first?
  21. Cool story. In those 2-3 years, how many SB’s will we win?
  22. My point is this…decency bias might be causing you to make a misjudged opinion. Did they finish the season on high notes? Yes. Was their play always consistent? No. Do they have major red flags to their games? Yes. Just be careful judging your opinion off of a handful of games and not their entire careers.
  23. As fans we always “hope” they play well. Unfortunately, our fandom doesn’t always align with reality.
  24. You are picking one game in the entire time he’s been here. I’m sorry…the other games count too. Can’t just look at one game where he looked really good and ignore the ones where he was average at best or completely inactive.
