  1. I would be ok with that. So Jeffrey Simmons didn’t slip because of is acl tear? How about jaylon smith? Happens all the time. Simmons and smith were considered top 5 picks. The question is…where was he originally slated and how far will he fall.
  2. Disagree. There was a chance if there wasn’t a timeline on his recovery. Only certain teams have the benefit of being able to wait a few months…we are one of them. Even though it was our offense that lost a couple games in the middle of the season last year? Sorry. I disagree with this. Dane Jackson has two years in this system and he was the reason they didn’t draft a corner last year. They really like him. Can someone please remind me who had the number one defense last year and led the league in fewest tds allowed?
  3. Great news on one front, but not on the other. Been saying that Tre will likely be back sooner than most of us expected. However, Williams will now be out of our reach if he’s cleared that early.
  4. Oh my goodness. Here we go again. Where was Dane picked? 7th round. We are talking about Gordon being a potential first round pick with 4.52 speed? I don’t think so. My son had ACL surgery on 1/25…the hope is he is able to start practicing by end of summer as well. And he doesn’t have an entire professional strength and conditioning staff helping him get there like Tre does. This is an EXCELLENT point. The fact that they haven’t done anything tells me two things. They are confident in where Tre is with his recovery and they like Dane Jackson more than we know.
  5. Not to mention they specifically said last year that they didn’t think there was a corner in 2 that could beat out Jackson. That was before he had another year of development and multiple games started.
  6. I think this staff thinks very highly of Dane Jackson. Home grown and has two full years of development under McD and this defense.
  7. You realize we still have the need to get younger on offense, right? Most of Allen’s “weapons” are on expiring contracts. Hardly locked up for success after this year. This staff likes Dane Jackson despite how most of you view him. He’s capable of being a really good corner. We can get another starter at the position in round 2-4. It doesn’t have to be round 1. I would argue that there are guys that are projected on day 2 that have better measurables than guys like Kyler Gordon and Roger McCreary. Cam Taylor-Britt for example ran a 4.38 with 31.5” arms. Tiger McCreary has 28.75” arms! Gross. Gordon ran a 4.52. No thanks.
  8. You had me until the end. Gordon, mccreary, and Elam would be reached in the first round. If one of them is there in the second, then fine. I’m actually in the camp that wants nothing to do with mccreary. His arms are less than 29” and no corner with less than 31” arms has ever made the pro bowl. That’s a full 2-2.5” shorter than most great boundary corners. I’m sure they will. But it doesn’t have to be the first round like people are clamoring for.
  9. You don’t draft for need. Are you kidding me? IF corner is BPA at 25, then fine. But I’m hearing a lot of you say it has to be a corner. That’s completely reckless. Not all the corners are the same. Guys like Gardner, Booth, McDuffie, and Stingley are the obvious first rounders. Gordon did not have good numbers at the combine and his stock has dropped. Elam has his issue and mccreary has absurdly short arms. Do you really think Beane is gonna draft a guy with sub 29” arms to play the boundary? No way. Heck, McDuffie has short arms too. Dane Jackson has better measurables. All four of the corners I mentioned as first rounders will probably be gone. Do you still want Beane to draft one “just because we need one”? Count me out on that. We can possibly get someone like Gordon or Woolen in round 2 and get a big upgrade at the position. It doesn’t “have to be” corner at 25.
  10. Yeah…I mean if there is a run on WRs and someone like Booth is there I guess it would be ok. But I’d hate to pass on a top wr for a corner and the wr goes to KC where he burns our corner for years.
  11. We don’t need a first round corner. We have waited for offense for years. Can’t keep doing it. We can get a good corner later in the draft.
  12. I’d be all for it. 100%. Proven player and takes care of CB.
  13. What sort of compensation would get this done?
  14. I get the feeling you were one of the guys that didn’t want us to trade up for a qb in 2018, but instead continue to “build the defense” and take a guy like Rudolph in round 2.
  15. Orrrrr…they feel Dane is developed and ready to replace him. Not to mention, for a lot cheaper than 8 million.
  16. My bad. Well that’s worst case. 6 is best case. More realistically thinking 7-8
  17. Good point and a fair question. My son tore his ACL and they told him it’s a 6-9 month injury and it all hinges on setbacks and how hard you work. Tre’s injury was at the end of November. 9 months puts him at July. I think he could be cleared by then but would probably need some conditioning before he’s a full go.
  18. Stop gap? Haha. Whatever. Just because YOU feel that way about Levi and Jackson doesn’t mean the staff shares your same knowledgeable opinion. I’m fact, they thought about drafting corner last year in round 2 but they said they didn’t see anyone that they thought could beat out who the had. Not to mention they extended Wallace after the season. Maybe you should write a letter to the staff telling them that they have “stop gaps”. I’m sure they would love to hear that.
  19. Ummmm…that’s my point. Not sure what you are trying to accomplish with this post…
  20. Disagree. The coaching completely let everyone down at the end. I’m not gonna keep spelling this out for you…
  21. Totally disagree. This staff likes Dane Jackson. They developed him as a 7th round rookie. I can see them doing the same thing with a mid round corner to fill out the depth chart. A corner trio of Tre White, Dane Jackson, and round 2-4 rookie is a pretty good trio in this system. They have the best safety tandem in the league backing them up as well. We don’t NEED a first round corner.
  22. Tre is a good point. But McD has always had an elite cover guy and someone that they developed on the other side. This goes back to his Carolina days.
  23. Good call…forgot about him. Stout was really good at the senior bowl. Would be a good get if we can’t land araiza.
  24. Yolo…did you hear anything more about the Penn State pro day today?
