Great points. Well done. I honestly can’t see McCreary in any scenario. His arms aren’t just short, they are REALLY short. I could see McDuffie only because of his scheme fit, but the arm length might have him off their board. I agree with Booth probably being the one that would make them consider using the 25th pick on a corner. I don’t want a corner at that spot, but he check almost all the boxes for what the Bills want. I think any other corner would be a slight reach and I don’t expect them to reach on a position that we have great success at developing. Josh Williams and Martin Emerson are REALLY interesting. They are the ones I would keep an eye on if we wait.

Bills Draft Visit Spotlight- Isaiah Spiller Texas A&M RB

Spiller is interesting. He’s Joe Marino’s RB1. Marino thinks he would be a fantastic fit for the Bills. -
Good write up. It’s interesting you single out McCreary and McDuffie as not being fits. I watched a podcast on YouTube last night where Greg Cosell names them as really good fits for the Bills. I will say…I agree with you that they don’t fit what the bills look for. The bills like guys with elite traits and I’m sure they view their sub-30” arms as slight red flags. They don’t scream outside corner to me. I’m Mccreary’s case, his arms are absurdly short for a corner…sub-29”. I really think value might match up in the 3rd or 4th for us. Almost anyone with any knowledge knows that McD and his staff is the best in the game at developing corners. A 3rd or 4th round guy like the ones we mentioned could end up being a stud in a year or two.

Ok…I agree with this. What are your thoughts on McDuffie and mccreary? Do you think it’s possible that we might wait till rounds 3 or 4 for guys like Josh Williams, Zion McCollum, Martin Emerson, etc? Beane has shown a lot of faith in Mcd’s ability to develop corners and I can see that faith continue with a mid round pick that allows them to look at other positions with their top couple picks. Ok…he just answered my question…thanks for chiming in…
-
What do you mean by this? You would take McDuffie over the receiver?
-
Exactly. This is who breece Hall is compared to. Nobody would turn that down.
-
I’ve seen a scouting report that states he doesn’t have good recovery speed. That means once he’s burnt, he stays burnt. Not exactly something that makes me feel warm and fuzzy with receivers like waddle and hill in the division.
-
You just answered my question… It’s an honest question. We are all message board guys with opinions. I didn’t mean anything bad by it.
-
No offense, but I’ll take the real scout’s word for it. Do you do it for a living?

Not cool. -
Ok…this is a good point. But there are a lot of people blowing off about corner having to be the pick no matter what cause it’s our biggest need. Many want to trade up, which i think would be downright foolish considering what is asked of the corners in this defense. Not to mention, that McD is the best in the sport at developing corners. As for Andrew Booth…his measurables are elite, but read what is said about his weaknesses in this scouting report: https://draftwire.usatoday.com/lists/andrew-booth-jr-scouting-report-2022-nfl-draft-clemson-tigers-football/ To sum it up…he is prone to getting burnt deep and doesn’t have great recovery speed, which means he “stays burnt”. I’m sorry guys, but that’s the gist of my argument. Why spend a first rounder on a corner, when most of these elite receivers are constantly beating them over the top? It makes no sense to me. Keep stacking the offense and let other teams spend high picks on corners that can’t keep up with our speed. it’s what the chiefs have done and part of what has made them successful.
-
Why? Because it doesn’t fit the corner crowd’s narrative. You are correct though. We had a 7th rounder and UDFA playing corner for a large part of the season and they did fine. I’m sick of hearing about corner. There are a select few on this board that make it unbearable for the rest of us. Those that can see the bigger picture knows the way to build a winning football team is adding to the offense. A handful of cheap one year deals doesn’t “fix” anything. We need to get younger and cheaper and make life easier on our franchise quarterback. It CAN be addressed. Many of us are just saying it doesn’t HAVE to be in the 1st round.
-
McCreary? The guy with the stubby arms? Haha. No way.
-
Again…the coaches screwed those 13 seconds up more than anything. They literally did nothing right. The defense was the unit on the field, so it’s easy for people that can’t see the big picture to cherry pick them. Take that game out of the equation. In fact, ignore everything from the second half of the Bucs game to the end of the season. What was happening for the 5 or 6 games leading up to that. Allen was running for his life cause he had zero blocking and pressure was immediately coming right into his face. Singletary was the slow running back that he is to this day. The defense was playing lights out as it did all season…thus the number one ranking. Our offense could only muster 6 points against a Jags team that had quit on its coach. The offense was THE reason we didn’t play the Chiefs in Buffalo last year. All they needed was one TD against the worst team in the league and they couldn’t get that accomplished. This. There are several corners that we could target later that could be difference makers. I like Taylor-Britt, Josh Williams, Woolen, etc. It doesn’t have to be a first round corner. We can take offense in the first and address corner later.
-
It boggles my mind how the corner jockeys can’t see this. Our offense was terrible for a large stretch this season. Allen did all he could do to keep us in games. Our NUMBER ONE defense did their jobs, but the offense cost us a higher seed in the playoffs. Im not going to pretend that those issues might not pop up again this season if we don’t get better across the line and at running back. I don’t trust a few games at the end of the year to be the new norm with this offense. Singletary is still slow. The line is still gonna struggle. Allen will still be running for his life. Unless we continue to build the offense with guys on more than one year deals.

Great point. This corner talk is getting absurd. We still led the entire league in fewest tds allowed. I don’t care about who we played. We played our schedule and the results speak for themselves. Other teams played bad qbs too and didn’t have the stats that or defense did. I don’t think this regime sees corner the same way as some fans do. They like guys that can keep the receivers in short yardage catch situations and tackle them immediately. We have the best safety duo in the league that helps mask some of the corners’ weaknesses. The defense is fine. In fact, if we don’t add a single other piece to it this off-season, it will be top 5 still. Another poster, who I agree with, says defense mainly matters in the regular season. Once you get to the playoffs and play elite qbs, they will mainly burn any elite corner you have with their elite receivers. Need proof? Look at the super bowl. Jalen Ramsey, who we all can admit is prob the best corner in the league, looked silly at times against Cinci’s young stud receivers. The pass rush win that game. Not the corners. And oh by the way…we have one of those very pass rushers on our team now. Go stack the offense. That’s the missing piece to this puzzle. Not some dumb corner that will look lost against a top receiver in a big game.
-
Exactly. Literally EVER single argument the cornerback crew brings up can be turned right around and thrown directly in their faces. It’s kinda funny…
-
Exactly. It’s completely laughable to me that ANYONE thinks a first round corner is more important than helping the best player in the game. I can’t take trying to reason with these people anymore.
-
Never said the offense was a problem. I said we need to keep adding to the offense. It’s foolish to think a first round corner will be the last missing piece that will make a number one defense unstoppable. 🙄
-
I’m not arguing with you or anyone. Nothing will change my mind. You can continue to think a “stud” corner will take plays like that away. That’s your opinion. Whatever. The bottom like is “alpha” that no defense looks good against top offenses these days. Did you see Ramsey look lost in the super bowl against stud receivers?
-
My argument is about taking a corner in 1. There are other rounds to get a CB2. Do you really think anyone can guard both Hill and Waddle? If so, good for you. The Chiefs have been daring teams to keep up with them on offense for years and it’s worked for them with just a serviceable defense. We have a top 5 unit right now, even if we make no more moves. We lost those 13 seconds due to absolutely atrocious coaching decisions. That’s a fact. They literally didn’t do anything right in that time. And you also conveniently forget about the long stretch in the regular season where our offense fell flat on its face. We had no protection, Singletary was (and still is) slow, and Allen was basically doing everything on his own. The offense cost us a higher seed in the playoffs by putting up 6 points against the Jags. Believe what you wanna believe…I’ll do the same.
-
I know plenty about football boss. I also know there are still vets that are unsigned and I know there are other rounds besides the first round to get a rookie. Heck, we developed a UDA and a seventh rounder recently, so o think the odds are VERY high that we don’t use a first rounder on a corner. Give me a first round weapon in round 1 and Taylor-Britt or Josh Williams in round 3.
-
Or it’s a perfect time to get cheaper on offense. We are paying Diggs and there are some other decisions coming up the next year or two. It works both ways. This team’s identity is the passing game. Gotta keep weapons in the pipeline cause you don’t know who will leave.
-
This is just…wow. So we would give up a ton of picks (maybe even next year’s first) to move up and get a backup plan to Tre being ready? This is laughable. I think the staff likes Jackson a lot, no matter how many of you feel or if you agree or not. The idea that we are set on offense is equally laughable. We have a slow RB on the last year of his rookie deal, we have an old guard on a one year deal, and a bunch of “weapons” on one year deals as well. You don’t think we could use some cheap young labor that will be for a while in that side of the ball? I do. And hopefully Beane does as well.
-
So you can only fill a need with a first round pick? Sorry. Not buying it. If there isn’t a corner worth a first round pick, do you still take one? I really can’t stand this argument. Crowder and Howard are on cheap one year deals. There is NOTHING there that should preclude them from taking a WR if there is one they like. I don’t agree with you or anyone on corner in round 1. You can’t reach for need and I think Beane likes Jackson a lot. We can get a pretty good corner in the mid rounds.
