  1. As soon as the news of von broke yesterday, I had the same thoughts. This isn’t much different from “needing” a corner last year when we all knew Tre would be back. I just hope all the picks Beane has thrown at DL step up and keep him from dipping into that pot again.
  2. How was I “bashing” Davis in this post? I simply said I would take any of those guys over him. I think most would agree. I always think Davis will have some special moments yet this year but his disappearing acts at times and his drops will continue to linger.
  3. This is where I’m at. I look at cinci and Miami and would love to see what Allen could do with those weapons. I wouldn’t trade Diggs for anyone, but if we had hill, waddle, Higgins, Boyd, or chase instead of Davis…wow.
  4. Davis is a boom or bust guy. He runs bad routes but will mix in a big play downfield from time to time. I can’t fathom us paying Allen, Diggs, knox, and Davis at the same time. I feel Davis will be done after next year at the least and we need to bring in someone to learn the system. I just hope it’s not another late round pick.
  5. The thing with Davis is he will probably want too much money to stick around after next year. Even if we keep him, we should really go after a top end wr prospect in the draft. Better to keep that cupboard full. At the very least, it creates competition for Davis, who was largely just handed the job this year.
  6. Poyer is gone. I’d put money on it. Does it make me happy? Not one bit. But someone has to go and I’ll bet they pay a 24 year old LB with 5 years experience over an aging safety. Besides…I think we’ve seen enough from Hamlin to believe he can play alongside Hyde and do very well.
  7. How? Have you seen what we have on offense outside of Diggs and Allen? At least 3 spots on the oline can be upgraded and we could use another WR.
  8. Imagine being Von waking up to that news…can you imagine? You go on the table thinking it’s a meniscus repair with hopes you will play this year and then get told you are out up to a year.
  9. Tre is back, but not pre-injury tre.
  10. Agree, but he will be 34 before he can return and there is not guarantee he heals quick at this age. We may not see him back to form until he’s 35.
  11. Disagree on MLB. They used a day 2 pick on one last year in Bernard. They need to develop him. No more LB.
  12. Not happening imo. They will resign edmunds and they should. He was beanes second draft pick and moved up in the first to get him. He is the epitome of beanes draft, develop, retain policy.
  13. I think Shakir is gonna be solid. I also don’t think he should preclude them from drafting a WR in rounds 1 or 2.
  14. I wanted Breece Hall, an olineman, or a WR. We are flush with defensive talent and I argued that we could wait to get a DB on day 2 or 3. That just doesn’t seem to be the way with this staff. I just hope they finally do what needs done this off-season with a focus on offense.
  15. True, but look at the amount of early round WRs last year. I’d take any of them right now. Christian Watson and George Pickens look like first round talents. Would anyone have cared if we took either of them as the 7th or 8th guy?
  16. Honestly, a round 1 defensive player might send me into a rage.
  17. I just don’t understand the need to draft another DB high. McD can coach DBs up better than anyone and Hamlin looks like he can pair just fine with Hyde once he’s back. This off-season has to be about the offense with the premium picks. This. Go get a day 3 safety to develop for when Hyde is gone. We dont need a day 1 or 2 safety. The offense is the priority for once.
  18. I wouldn’t say it’s the consensus, but I’ve seen it. I don’t agree with it though. I’ve also seen a lot of interior oline and WRs mocked to us in 1. I think most people are recognizing that our future need and current weaknesses lie on the offensive side.
  19. I agree. Too often, stats don’t tell the entire story. Like last year when our d was rated number one but most would agree it wasn’t the best in the league. Well…Saffold may not have given up a sack, but he hasn’t been great either. Beane bet on Allen’s talent to mask the deficiencies of the line, which is exactly what has happened. Totally agree. Prime draft assets need to go to the offense. Enough of betting on Allen to cover up the deficiencies of a patch work oline. Get him a couple new linemen and a weapon or two to pair with Diggs. I think Saffold realizes his career is winding down and is doing a little butt kissing cause he knows his options may be limited.
  20. Yeah it’s misleading because 2 guys are carrying the bulk. If you want to look at just rankings that’s fine, but a deeper dive shows you this offense has holes.
  21. The defense was ranked number one last year and all anyone wanted to do was say how “misleading” it was.
  22. This one burns me as well. It was really tough at the time and it only gets worse as we see how good Humphrey has become since then.
  23. Exactly. I’ll bet that most of the posters touting the offense as the “second ranked offense” are the same ones that were condemning the top rated defense last year as being misleading stats.
  24. KC has the line and offensive weapons to be more sustainable if something were to happen to Mahomes. Plus they have Andy Reid calling plays. That’s huge…
  25. I had hopes for Davis and I still think he can be serviceable. I have my doubts that he will get a second contract here after we invested heavily in Allen, Diggs, and knox. I think we will draft someone to compete with Davis next year and slide into the number 2 role the following year. However…I never really thought for a second that McKenzie could fill beasleys shoes. Sure he he a few good moments, but he’s mainly a gadget guy. I had a strong feeling that decision was gonna bite us and it did. Then again, we brought in crowder who naturally got hurt. Either way, the slot position was arguably Allen’s biggest fallback the last few years and it was largely misjudged by Beane.
