Well…I personally feel like Beane and McD need to ride or die with Bernard after using such a valuable pick on him. The prevailing thought was he was insurance in case they lost edmunds. They can’t give up on that guy after a year and continue to ignore the offense.

Since we are talking about Marino, it’s important to note that he believes Benford will be the poyer replacement. I’m more than ok with that. Promote from within. Benford has the same hybrid pedigree that Hyde had and look how that turned out. We do not need to take a safety high in the draft, nor do we need to spend FA dollars on one. The answer is likely already in the roster.

The misuse of Cook and Hines was borderline criminal
whorlnut replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall
Is Dorsey to blame? Partly. I put a lot of it on McD. He is the HC and why wasn’t he in Dorsey’s ear all week telling him to use those guys? Maybe he was, but I can’t imagine Dorsey completely neglecting cook and Hines if his HC wasn’t demanding more out of them. -
Anyone who can utilize all the top assets we already have and turn them into mean qb seeking missiles…

Can’t fathom a safety in the early rounds. McD made mention of Benford going to safety in his presser. Marino loves the idea and actually expects it to be Benford and Hyde next season. If you want to draft depth later on, fine. But under no circumstances do we need or have to draft one early this year.

I won’t give him a break. Not at all. Think about it…what has this staff preached from day one? Competition. Where was Gabe’s competition? There wasn’t any. They handed him the job and bet on that game to bleed over to a larger role in the offense. It was a HUGE fail on beane’s part. One that I think came because they were prepared to continue to bolster the defense at the expense of getting better in the receiving game. Now their hand is forced.
-
Not only that, but don’t say the reason the team that just kicked your arse only have the WR that kicked your arse is because they “sucked”. Beane has had a top 10 pick too the year Allen got us to 6-10 and picked Ed Oliver. We could have used that pick to have gotten weapons like cinci did, but instead thought an undersized DT was worth the pick.

I think the writing was on the wall as to how badly Beane botched the WR position when he signed brown and Beasley off the streets. I think it also had something to do with Allen asking for more help cause he didn’t trust guys like McKenzie and maybe even Davis after the constant drops and bad routes.

Aaron Rodgers to the Jets for 2 first round picks?
whorlnut replied to Lost's topic in The Stadium Wall
OP’s user name is “LOST”. What does that tell you? -
Well…we essentially ran it back on offense last year.

All I can say is this…close your eyes and imagine Josh Allen with an offensive minded HC that builds the team around him on that side of the ball. Can anyone say that wouldn’t have a chance of netting better results?

Not sure about the players, but love the positions at each pick. It needs to be offense heavy this off-season.

5 years and one glaring weakness remains the same…..
whorlnut replied to BillMafia716ix's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think the glaring weakness is their reluctance to spend top picks and resources on the offense altogether. Yes, I know they traded a first rounder for Diggs, but why stop there? They used a few seconds on offense, but it’s not enough. The guys they drafted for defense have been role players on an idiotic rotation, and not dawgs that can make an immediate impact. Their entire draft philosophy needs to change. -
Are the Bills committed to Ed Oliver in 2023?
whorlnut replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall
I disagree with edmunds. First of all, I hope they keep him. Second, if they don’t then they have to make bernard work. You don’t draft a LB in the third as a fall-back to possibly losing edmunds and give up on him this soon. -
Beyond idiotic? Give me a break. It’s completely reasonable to question them. Davis was basically handed the WR2 gig after his big game against KC. They betted on him and lost. To make it worse, they didn’t bring in anyone for him to compete with, which is something they talk about ad nauseum. Crowder? Ok. Whatever. But on a one year deal with a history of injuries? McKenzie? How does this guy keep staying on this roster? All the criticism over the neglect at WR is completely warranted for Beane and McD.

Everybody's Feeling Stung right Now but please.....
whorlnut replied to jethro_tull's topic in The Stadium Wall
I really get tired of the “drought years” as a reason we shouldn’t be hurting NOW. Its a lame thing to say. -
Michael Thomas or Odell Beckham Jr.?
whorlnut replied to thenorthremembers's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is a good point and one that I’ve considered. Davis is in his contract year next year and McD hates playing rookies. It’s something to keep an eye on. -
He wasn’t involved more because the other team had a plan to take away his touches and make the other “weapons” beat them. No one stepped up, so here we are. We need another weapon or two to take pressure off Diggs and he will eat.
