Dion Dawkins and the Bills ripped off - Baldy agrees
Old Coot replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Re the dawkins call: it was a bad call. In fairness to rge ref his vision was impeded when Dawkins swiped 90's hands down causing 90 to fall. At that time a Bills' player runs between Dawkins and the ref so the ref's vision may have been blocked. That said, the ref is only supposed to call fouls that he actually sees. -
John Harbaugh Presser After the Loss - I always respected him
Old Coot replied to PoundingDog's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think it was because we went up 2 scores with not much time left. I recall thinking that the ravens could not afford another run drive becaue it would take too much time and, sure enough, the ravens went to the pass to conserve time. -
Joe Brady, Josh Allen, and the playcalling
Old Coot replied to Low Positive's topic in The Stadium Wall
It's clear that Josh was fooled on that play. But the options for blitz beating were limited by the formation. The RB is covered on the other side so Josh has to check down to the other side. It's also possible that the Ravens say something on tape. I can't say for sure but my impression is that most of Josh's check downs go to his left. Maybe that's because teams like to blitz the QB's left side -- his "blind" side. -
I cannot believe that this kind of disinformation is allowed on the internet. I thought that those 3 guys in East Orange NJ we supposed to scrub all internet misinformation!

I do not like saying it but the Ravens have more talent than we do. They played without Flowers the entire game and Bateman for most of their last drive. The better team doesn't always win in the playoffs; see today's game and the Lions-Commanders game. There are moral wins and there are moral losses. A moral win is still a loss and a moral loss is still a win. Bills' win today was a moral loss. The game should not have been this close. The ravens had three turnovers to none for us and would have sent the game into overtime were it not for the Andrews flub at the end. Don't get me wrong. Our D got those turnovers with outstanding plays but once again the game was a tale of two halves. Our O owned them in the first half and struggled in the second half. That last TD drive of the Ravens had me thinking, "Oh no; it's 13 seconds all over." I get that you go conservative on D in that situation but we got no pressure on Jackson. On a slippery field the receiver has the advantage. What could the D have done to pressure or confuse Jackson? maybe a blitz but that's risky. Does anyone zone blitz anymore? A win is a win. On to KC. It will be interesting to see what we and KC do with schemes. The KC O line has pass protection woes that can be exploited. KC's D is no joke. GO BILLS

Sometimes a change of scenery can do wonders for your mental well-being; cf. Geno Smith and Goff, too -
Back at you.

Great game. I was there. It was a time when men were men and QBs were scared.

Outstanding post. I did not realize that Planes, Trains & Automobiles was filmed in part in S Dayton. Do you know which scenes? It's a great film, both funny and poignant, especially for the holiday season.

Bill Bergey, Eagles All-Pro LB has died. He was a WNYer from S Dayton. Sadly he did not live to see the Bills win the Super Bowl next year :0 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Bergey

Red Uniforms. Take them off. Burn them. Never wear them again.

Reminded me of the old Boston patriots unis -
The D has been porous for at least the last 3 games because of injuries in the D backfield and the LB corps. Hopefully the injured starters will be ready and fresh for the playoffs. BTW the Rams and Lions D had significant starters injured and this ensbled our O to score 40 + points. In the NE game we faced a tight D with few injuries and that, I think, contributed to our O's less that stellar showing today.

I wish him well. Look on the bright side: he's not going to the Jets.

I'm so sorry to hear about what happened to your defense. You have my deepest sympathy.

Hate Announcers? Here's How to Lose Them on Sunday Ticket
Old Coot replied to theRalph's topic in The Stadium Wall
For the less tecnically inclined hack my dad watched the game with the sound off but the radio on and tuned to the Bills' game. The radio announcer's play by play is more informative. He has to be -- he's painting a picture in the listener's mind with words.. Try it; you'll like it. -
I remember when free agency first came in in the 1990s. It was said to be the end of dynasties and, to some extent, I think it was. The pats were an outlier. They hit the trifecta as other have mentioned. To some extent so have the Chiefs but we'll see once Kelce retires. For all of Mahomes' greatness (and he is a great QB) Kelce distorts defenses making Mahomes' reads easier. On the other hand, the Chiefs aren't 9-0 on the strength of their offense. The last two years their D has been equal to the challenge. It will be interesting to see how TThe Chiefs' O performs against us.
-
Free agency changed all that. Before FA players were tethered to teams for their playing life (unless traded) so year after year animosities could develop / deepen. Now the guy opposite you may change from year to year plus it doesn't to piss off people you might be playing with in the future.
-
Not defending the guy, but he's battling turf toe. That's an injury that significantly affects a player's ability to cut.

I think Poyer was trying to knock the ball out of the receiver's hands but got there late. He wasn't a dirty player here so it's unlikely he became one when he moved on to Miami.
