  1. My reaction (figuratively) to the 13 seconds:
  2. If the Fins jell they could give us trouble.
  3. As I recall free tickets to SB1 were given out because about one third of the tickets went unsold (likely due to the "outrageous" ticket price of $12).
  4. Elam should fit in nicely. He has two relatives who played in the NFL so he knows the score. My only concerns are that he missed three games last season because of a knee injury and that his play was a bit inconsistent. Why come out after a junior season like that?
  5. Were he on another team I might like him but I sure would respect him. I can't say I ever liked Brady but when he went to Tampa Bay and continued to play at a high level I respected the hell out of him.
  6. Von will be double-teamed on crucial downs. Either he'll need to beat those double-teans or someone else on the DL-LB corps will need to step up. I'm not saying that Von can't beat the double-teams. When he is double-teamed that means there's an opportunity for the other DL or a blitzing LB to get to the QB.
  7. A story perhaps apocryphal: at one of the AFL NY Titans early games there were so few fans that the players went into the stands to thank those attending.
  8. How many "Greatest Games ever Played" are there? Too many criteria for there to be just one.
  9. Now I can afford some sleeves for my shirt
  10. I delight in your uneasyness over English unpredictable spelling rules. The Germans probably even have a word for my delight.
  11. The initial Bills' helmets in 1960 & 1961 were silver with the jersey number in blue on each side: https://www.buffalorumblings.com/2011/2/9/1984140/buffalo-bills-uniforms-throughout-the-years
  12. With all the bitching about its cost, I thought I'd post an artist's rendition of the new $1.4 billion stadium. Corporate suites in the white building on the right
  13. I neglected to mention that the clothing store O'Connell, Lucas & Chelf was founded by Tommy O'Connell, Ritchie Lucas & Don Chelf (an offensive tackle on the team).
  14. I'm an Old Coot. I remember Tommy O'Connell handing off to Ritchie Lucas & throwing passes to Elbert "Golden Wheels" Dubenion, Jackie Kemp handing off to Cookie Gilchrist and throwing passes to Dubenion & Glenn Bass. Ed Rutkowski (former Erie County Exec) was on that team. I remember the loss to the KC Chiefs in the 1966 AFL Championship game. If the Bills had won they would have played in the first NFL-AFL Championship game. Somewhat later the annual game was renamed the Superbowl. My interest in the Bills has waxed & waned over the years with the team's success. It's waxing now. Hopefully the team will win a Superbowl before I join the Choir Eternal.
  15. This is a very interesting theory. If the WR position gets degraded because of huge QB contracts and the RB position has already been degraded does that mean that offensive production gets degraded & defenses improve? Is this why in recent memory the NFL has tweked rules to encourage offensive production? I remember when you could mug the receivers until the ball ws in the air and then mug the QB for good measure.
  16. How about a booth where fans get to live an NFL experience: Getting hit by a real NFL blitzing linebacker. Only fans with current medical insurance could participate.
  17. Good point. I think they are planning on using 21 personnel package on D -- as in 10 DL and 11 other guys.
  18. I'm guessing that Beane & Co have a plan for this since they let Levi Wallace walk. Whether that plan is successful is another matter. As the noted philosopher Michael Tyson once said, "Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth."
  19. Brady sets yet another football record -- shortest retirement.
  20. It was a business decision.
  21. NFL channel reporting on this year's Combine with QB's throwing Go routes to WR's played a video of Josh's 70 yd throw at his Combine. His throw started at his own 10 yd line and caught by the WR at the opposite 20 yd line.
  22. It's a perfectly cromulent word.
  23. Let's try this take on the discussion: Assume Edmunds is no longer with the team. Who is a better MLB fit given the Bills' protect against the pass first scheme?
  24. For those disenchanted with the NFL there is always professional pillow fighting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FIxAzjNNLSA
  25. Those fancy casinos aren't built by the winners; they're built by the losers.
