I’m starting to get extremely frustrated with Dorsey.
Old Coot replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
Some of the offense's troubles lie with our makeshift OL. Last year Josh had noticeably more time to throw when he was in the pocket and that allowed our receivers more time to get open. Maybe it's Dorsey's playcalling but in his after game interview when asked about the 3r quarter performance he put it down to execution. I agree that on the two deep pass plays with two receivers in the same area, that should not happen. The play wasn't drawn up that way. One of the receivers didn't run the correct route. -
Buffalo Bills comeback is still the most impressive, here's why:
Old Coot replied to BillsM@fia's topic in The Stadium Wall
I read that at halftime the Bills changed their pass patterns (from crossing routes to non-crossing or vice versa, I don't remember) and the Oilers did not adjust their defense. The rest is history. -

50 years ago today, the final game at The Rockpile
Old Coot replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall
50 odd years from now you youngsters will be fondly recalling the Ralph and getting the same response from the younger generation. As one who played on grass / mud and synthetic turf I much prefer grass / mud. It's softer when you land on it & no rug burns. -

The Rockpile was featured in the Robert Redford film "The Natural." They used it for the stadium shots. -
Agreed. But I hold my breath every time he runs in fear of a disabling hit.
-
I don't think it's really scolding. Posters are just being realistic; they don't want us to lose our franchise QB as a result of a wicked hit while Josh is running. Specifically, Josh can still run but slide to avoid thise hits. Because of rule changes favoring the QB, QB's in the pocket now don't get as beat up as they did formerly or when they run but don't slide. My 10 cents (was 2 cents but inflation has affected everything.

The old AFL greats are dying off. AS for the field, those grass / dirt fields didn't produce any ACL injuries. Plus they are softer to land on and no rug burns.

Vikings DB talks about the film study he did on the Bills
Old Coot replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
It was a bad throw by Josh. He wasn't hurried and he usually guns the ball in there. That ball had no juice on it. Josh wasn't accurate in his throws in overtime. I wonder if he injured his arm on the first Peterson interception and it stiffened up on him later. Thoughts? -
Could be that he's having trouble with blitz pick-up in practice or getting his timing down with OL blocks. Whatever the reason, we'll see him on the field as the season progresses.
-
I don't fault the D on this one. Back 7 are really banged up and playing replacements. Plus they gave up only 20 points. This loss is on our offense. For the second straight game the 2d half offensive performance has not been very good. Josh seems to be less accurate than usual. Your thoughts on why. Is it poor mechanics? Good coverage?

Milan was missed on the Jets final drive when they ran seven straight run plays for significant yardage.

Is There So Little Love for Tremaine Edmunds?
Old Coot replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall
This comment is spot-on. The Cover 2 shell the Bills play as a base defense has a hole in the middle between the safeties. Tou need an Edmunds type to guard that hole. Assuming he's gone next year who do we use to fill that role? Do we have anyone on the roster? FA? Draft possibility? It is possible to guard that hole without an Edmunds/ Urlacher type as MLB but it's more complicated and involves disgusied coverages which you can only do for so long before the disguise is recognized.
