One can hope that Josh's performance is a function of his spending too much time this week viewing Dolphins' film. On the plus side, you have to admire the way the Bills are playing down to their competition.

Torry Holt a semifinalist 10 times and hasn't made the final cut? Why?

Remember, Ralphie beats up this kid in this scene.

Allen was sub-par. I hope it's because he spent too much time this week looking at Dolphin's film

how many of you remember the "Kardiac Kids" of 1980?

Well, it's a win but our boys almost screwed the pooch. How on earth was the game that close?

They are running a CFL-type offense.

A Few Thoughts about the Cowboys Game, in no particular order
Old Coot replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
Game balls to the O line and the D (for getting pressure on Dak while keeping him in the pocket). -
In the K-Gun days I read that the offense only had about 20 plays. They practised them until the O could run them to perfection.

Huge shoutout to Buffalo fans from Matt Hasselbeck…

Those are real old school play names. "2" is the 2 back. "9" and "8" is the hole the back goes through. I've forgotten what the "Tex" and "Tax" tags add. -

So are we just done expecting Von Miller to do anything?
Old Coot replied to dayman's topic in The Stadium Wall
Announcers also mentioned that coaches switched Von to the other side of the line. -
I watched the play a bunch of times on the X feed. Here's my take: Davis is open because of a busted coverage likely caused by those earlier WR screens.Josh does initially look at Diggs who holds his hands out as if to receive the ball. Josh then seems to flash a look in davis' direction but then settles on Kincaid along the sideline. Josh either doesn't see Davis or sees him but chooses not to throw to him. I think that Josh doesn't see Davis. If he saw him but chose not to throw to him that's a serious error on Josh's part. Maybe the all-22 will show another DB nesr Davis off screen left but I doubt it since KC blitzed so many guys. Truly a puzzle.

Kelce is a former QB so his accurate delivery was no surprise. I can see why Reid doesn't like laterals. As a famous run-oriented coach one said: with a pass, three things can happen and two of them are bad.

Taylor Rapp being reckless and a liability
Old Coot replied to Mynamemike's topic in The Stadium Wall
He actually said that? Recently? Beane said it, I think, when Elam first went on IR.It was a public statement. -
Taylor Rapp being reckless and a liability

Likely wouldn't work. safety is a more cerebral position than CB. Beane is on record as saying of Elam that the light hasn't come on for him yet. -
Joe Brady on the Allen/Davis Miscommunication
Old Coot replied to Scott7975's topic in The Stadium Wall
You make a good case for your viewpoint. One thing we can agree on, well-coached teams don't have miscommunication issues. Execution is just as important as play-calling. I recall a comment by Beasley in response to criticism of Daboll's play-calling that it was lack of execution not play-calling. The read route concept, if tht's what the Bills were running on that play, puts alot of stress on the WR and QB reading the same coverage. When the QB is under immediate pressure there is even more liklihood for a misread. -
Joe Brady on the Allen/Davis Miscommunication
Old Coot replied to Scott7975's topic in The Stadium Wall
Fair enough. I don't know what the Bills' receivers are taught to do. I would be surprised, however, if they are taught to run toward leverage. As for Romo's comment it would be useful to know if Gabe realized it was a full-on blitz. Well said, my man. Too often there are breakdowns attributable to training. -
Joe Brady on the Allen/Davis Miscommunication
Old Coot replied to Scott7975's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is correct. No defender came close to making a play where the ball landed. Davis was open whichever way he broke I beg to differ. The DB has inside leverage; that is he is taking away the receiver's inside moves. If Gabe runs a post he's shrinking his separation from the DB. Gabe's out cut was correct. The DB was not close to where the throw landed because he went with Gabe. Correct receiver play says to cut away from the leverage which Gabe did. The D played a full blitz which likely led to the miscue. Josh would not have had much time to locate Gabe and throw and Gabe might not have been aware that its a full blitz. If he's aware his job is to run away from the DB since it will be man coverage. This is supported by the fact that no one on the team explicitly blamed Gabe; not Brady and not Josh. Josh said somethink like it's a 50-50 throw and he guessed wrong -
You should try to get out of your funk. Speak to family or friends. In an extreme case talk to a mental health pro about possible depression. many people feel "down" this time of year. Good luck, buddy.

Von Miller faces arrest in domestic violence case in Dallas
Old Coot replied to ArdmoreRyno's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think that this is a good policy. I question, however, whether many prosecutors would go forward with the case if the complaining witness refuses to cooperate.
