  1. I was one of the few who was completely okay with taking DK over Oliver, so right there with you (don't get me started on Ford...). I don't like McDuffie, both because he's a Husky (which might as well be a swear word in my house) but also because I think he's pretty tapped out. He might be a low-end CB1 but I think much more likely to be an average CB2 if not maybe an above average slot guy. That's not worth a 1 to me. Either way, take the crazy athlete at the position of need to me.
  2. Agree to disagree. RBs are VERY replaceable, top end athlete CBs aren't. Also adding multiple CBs allows Tre an abundance of time to get right. In our window, we shouldn't be drafting for what the player can do for us day 1, we should be drafting for what they could do for us in the Super Bowl, and to me, Woolen does a lot more in that frame of mind as well... Again though, I wouldn't hate Walker.
  3. This is all VERY moot, because the guy we're debating will be long gone by 57 AND our 1st rd pick was...not a good one. But since you're wanting to debate... The NFL is evolving, looking to get the ball to athletes in space. CB is our most glaring need and our 2nd biggest need has no real viable candidates available. Our staff has repeatedly proven their ability to develop toolsy athletes and Woolen is that in spades. They've also show their ability to move guys around and find fits in different positions (neither Poyer nor Hyde were full time safeties when they came here) -- I'm not saying that we draft Woolen or McDuff to move them to S, but they'd find ways to get them on the field. Perhaps Johnson becomes the S and McDuff stays where he's best in the slot. My whole point is simply that the type of player aligns better to the value and need on the board with Woolen than arguably anyone else. I personally HATED the McDuffie pick too, so might as well right that wrong... Walker is the only other guy available I can see a viable debate for, so agree w/ you there. I just also happen to like a number of RBs deeper into the draft and am also fine with airing it out 60x a game lol
  4. This type of thinking doesn't get you Josh Allen, or Dawson Knox, or Greg Rousseau... or Super Bowl rings.
  5. You say this like we didn't JUST use our 1st and 2nd round picks on the same position last year...
  6. For perspective... Our very own Joe Marino mocked Woolen to us IN THE FIRST ROUND in his newest mock draft. Feels high, which is why I've said before that the ideal scenario is trading down to improve our 2 and ending up with Woolen and George Pickens, BUT... he'd be a steal at 57.
  7. Definitely get and like the thought, but I'd focus more on teams with multiple high 2s or a late 1/high 2 and try to swaps 1s and 2s with them... Jets, Lions and Seahawks all fit that mold. Let them move up to get a "their guy" (Lions, perhaps w/ a QB) and upgrade our 2 so we can get 2 higher level players instead of 1... That'd be my though.
  8. Right conference, wrong school. Give me Zamir White and Kevin Harris all day long.
  9. That's nowhere near enough value to move that far down with the roster we have currently...
  10. Honestly, Tariq Woolen needs to be in the discussion and probably needs to be the pick (first pick be darned). Arguably the highest upside of any player left on the board. Position of need for our roster. Position of need in the broader evolving football landscape. Unique physical talent. Right staff to get the most out of a player like this. He's who I'll be hoping we land in this situation and I HATED our double dip last year.
  11. 100% I really like him as a player in general, but specifically in GB... made too much sense!
  12. After spending the first 6 1/2 minutes of their clock going back and forth between throwing a tantrum and cursing the heavens and Doc Brown for taking Cameron Thomas just ahead of them, the Green Bay Packers finally select Drake Jackson, DE, USC. After losing significant talent on the DL, particularly in the pass rush, the Pack opts to go with Jackson who fits into their scheme seamlessly. Jackson is likely not the highest ranked edge player on many draftnik boards but this is a kid that can flat out play. The Patriots @BillfromNYC are on the clock.
  13. This is what I was going to say... If you're drafting Velus Jones as anything other than a kick returner and maybe a gadget player, you're expecting too much. BUT, he certainly could be dynamic in that role. He's not ever going to be a routinely effective WR, though, so expectations should be tempered and value and price adjusted accordingly...
  14. I thought I was the only one on Greg Dulcich, but apparently not. Think that kid has poor-man's Kittle written all over him. If he doesn't count, my other TE sleeper that absolutely does is Derrick Deese from SJSU. Guy runs routes and catches the ball like a WR but has more than enough size to be an effective blocker.
  15. When your (now ex) coach (Mario) puts all his recruiting chips in 1 QB basket (DJU) and ignores the incredible talent right down the road (Bryce Young), sadly, sometimes the answer yes.
  16. LOVE Baylor, the kid runs like an NFL back. He's older and has durability ?s but my god is he fun to watch (and that's saying this as a Duck) when he's on. Speaking of Ducks... Keep Devon Williams on your radar. 6'5, long-armed WR, former high 4* recruit, started his career at USC but transferred to Oregon. At Oregon he had arguably THE WORST QB in college FB not targeting him for 2 consecutive years. I'm not kidding or exaggerating when I say there would be entire quarters or halves of games where he wouldn't get a target and yet was consistently open, like WIDE open. As such, he doesn't have the production you would want, but in the few games that he was actually and accurately fed the ball (they were few and far in between), he dominated. He's a great athlete and a bully in jump-ball situations. Should've stayed in college, but now has a young baby and wanting to provide for his family. This is the kind of kid that could definitely be a sleeper. DEFINITELY a kid I want to see succeed.
  17. I've seen him in person twice, he's nothing special.
  18. No question he's low floor. I just think we'll be good enough, and have a good enough staff and ability to coach him up, to take that risk.
  19. With the 28th selection, the Green Bay Packers select Jahan Dotson, WR, Penn St. Our QB needs weapons, and while we selected the WR with the highest upside 6 picks ago, Dotson will give him a starting, reliable WR immediately and the closest thing this draft has to a Davante Adams (in terms of play style). The Chiefs @Logic is on the clock
  20. I don't think you'd trade either. I'd see him as a 3rd safety/hybrid LB and move Taron Johnson out to the edge -- he showed he can hold his own out there. Just spitballing, but if he really is sliding he'd be an awesome piece to add to this defense.
  21. Moss was the name that came to mind for me.
  22. Doesn't shock me, we're in no-man's land... Us meeting with Kyle Hamilton is really interesting in this regard...
