  1. Almost posted basically the exact same comment but it got too wordy lol Basically our "needs" are now: CB2, pass-rusher, NT, IOL, TE, RB and really none of them are dire (hence the parentheses). And maybe the best thing about each of those needs is that they can be depth/developmental needs -- not guys we're going to need to be stars right away. So while I'd LOOOOOVE an Ossai/Phillips/Paye, if we have to settle for more of a situational pass-rusher in the 5th (I've got my eye on Rashad Weaver and Kaindoh) -- a guy that might take a year or two to round out his game -- we can afford to do that. Same situation at RB, while you'd love an Ettiene, if you have to settle for a Kylin Hill or Jermar Jefferson, that guy's not going to need to tote the rock 25 times to start the season. Ditto for TE, NT, etc. I think it's perfectly okay to lean into the fact that we're really good already and can draft for ceiling, rather than immediate impact.
  2. I get both sides of it... You want to love and support your guys, even if they're lesser than, and Wallace is a great story, so it'd be cool to see him succeed. Add to that that he performed admirably -- sometimes even well -- last season, and I'm not sure going into next season with him as CB2 would be cause to call it a year or anything like that. That said, yes, I definitely think he (and certainly Dane Jackson) can be upgraded. The good news is, our needs are shrinking by the day and there's a TON of CB talent between the FA pool and incoming draft class to help there.
  3. Adebo killed his pro day today: Height: 6’1″ Weight: 198 lbs Forty-Yard Dash: 4.42 Seconds Vertical Jump: 36.5″ Broad Jump: 10’1″ Three-Cone Drill: 6.7 Seconds Twenty-Yard Shuttle: 4.09 Seconds Bench Press: 18 Reps at 225 lbs I think fans are sleeping on him. He'll go earlier than most think. His tape from a few years ago showed HIGH HIGH end talent...
  4. Just saw that, thanks!
  5. I don't mean he'll replace him literally, I mean he'll replace him schematically. The FB is a dying position, and this move -- to me -- feels like we'll see a bit of evolution of the offense. I think we'll see more one back sets with an H-Back, as opposed to a fullback. That help?
  6. Maybe/maybe not. They're definitely different players. Said this in the Hollister thread, but I think Hollister will be more of an "evolved FB"/replacement for DiMarco, than just our straight-up TE2...
  7. Another name I'd hope we're asking about... Foster Moreau. Had a great rookie year for the Raiders, then rode the pine behind Waller and Witten.
  8. I kinda doubt it. This feels like more of a replacement for DiMarco. We'll see I guess...
  9. Sure, hang onto him in case of emergency, but also don't let him be the direct backup. And trade him if any reasonable valued offer comes your way. But yeah, a 3rd Qb is probably more valuable for insurance purposes than, a backup long snapper. I just hope we don't ever plan on him becoming anything, because I sure don't see it happening...
  10. I'm not understanding your argument, the Trubisky signing was a good one. Fromm will never be anything more than a low-level backup in the NFL.
  11. Nope, I like the signing. To be more clear, I think Fromm is, was and will always be doodoo
  12. We have bigger problems if we're counting on Fromm to backup Allen next season, so it's really the same either way.
  13. As I've said in other threads, go watch Ertz' tape from last year. He can't run anymore (not that he was ever a + athlete to begin with). Super Bowl rings and past stats don't mean anything when you can't bring what you once did to a team. This is looking more and more likely, so I would love to be wrong, but I just do not see an impact player in Ertz anymore, and I'd suspect our FO is not expecting that either. Just my 2 cents...
  14. FREE JOSH JACOBS!!!!! Seriously, I'd love to find out what the asking price is, this is insanity...
  15. 0 chance Nas or McNeil are there at the end of the 3rd...
  16. We'll never know, so it's kinda moot in the end. I know Beane values relationships across the league, but GMs also know the game, they know how this all works. I can tell you if the situation were reversed, Howie wouldn't hesitate to lower the offer -- again -- IF we're truly the only team still in talks for Ertz -- another thing we'll likely never know for sure...
  17. The decision isn't just "Ertz or no Ertz" in a vacuum though. We could sign Rudolph who's arguably going to contribute just or nearly as much as Ertz. Njoku looks very available, Darren Fells just got cut as will others... This is not a situation where we need to get bent over backwards, especially given Ertz' contract will need to be restructured and there's no guarantee (until he agrees to it) of what that number will be...
  18. This is perhaps cheating, since it hasn't happened yet, but this would really interest me. Candidly, I'm 1,000,000% biased, but I think Marcus would do well in this offense and think he's got a lot of good football still to play. Backup QB has to be somewhat of a priority with the way and frequency that Josh runs. EDIT: Just signed Trubisky. Damn, scratch that...
  19. While your point is not wrong, I think this is looking at it the wrong way (from my point, anyway)... It's one thing to offer a 3rd if we're competing against other teams for Ertz. I would still argue that's an overpay, but that's because I think his best football is very uch behind him. But if we're competing for him, sure, you throw out your best price. If we're the only one negotiating for him now that the Chargers signed Cook, there's absolutely no reason to keep the price the same. Lower the offer to a 5th and call Howie's bluff. If we miss out, it's not like we're missing out on an otherworldly player anymore -- this isn't Aaron Donald we're trading for here.
  20. It better be or it's a massive overpay.
  21. All depends on what the offer is, really. Ertz isn't worth a 3rd -- especially when you're the only team pursuing him via trade. If the offer was always a 5 or maybe our 3 for their 4, then sure, maybe you keep the offer as is, but the Chargers bowing out absolutely changes the negotiating dynamic. Howie has a history of taking what he can get, so no need to blink early. Call his bluff and sign Ertz after he's cut...
  22. At this point, some people are going to be disappointed if it's not a Bruce Smith clone, genetically modified to also play TE... If it was a superstar, more reporters than just Cynthia Frelund would be on this. That's my thing. IF it happens, it'll be someone between Ertz and Mack (though apparently recognizing that reality means I'm a grinch... 🙄)
  23. Sorry, you're right. MUCH better to pretend we're getting both All-Pro lists. Let me know when the parade is, I'll be there. Sheesh.
