  1. I’d be shocked if Jerry steps down. I think he’d have to be physically unable to do the job. I can’t see him retiring simply because he’s slowing down. People like Jones love fame and fortune, and want to be on that ride as long as possible. Retiring is a different beast for these people than your typical person. Good post, it gives good insight into the Cowboys organization. I think this convinces me more that Jerry isn’t stepping down anytime soon. Dallas can continue delegating responsibilities to others, while Jones remains the face of the franchise. I don’t see any need for a formal “retirement” in that case.
  2. Apparently I got lost in the last couple pages of Poyer and Edmunds talk. With that said, Edmunds certainly isn’t going anywhere imo 😆 I think the team values him far more than fans. I don’t know why, but I have a feeling that McD sees continuity as being important with linebackers, possibly more than other positions on defense.
  3. I think it depends how confident Beane and McDermott are in their system. We all know he’s a crucial part of this defense, but I’m not sure how much they’re willing or able to give him. I don’t see Poyer going anywhere, but I wouldn’t eliminate the possibility if negotiations turn ugly.
  4. Yeah, but I wouldn’t be shocked by a Poyer trade. Poyer is very important to this team, but if negotiations go south, Beane seems like the type of GM who’d be wise enough to get something of value for Poyer.
  5. I love our team, but I can’t find any reason to be annoyed with these comments. This board would worship our guys if they went on a respect rant. I’m cool with whatever motivates someone to succeed. The Bengals success isn’t going to be determined by these comments.
  6. Cook is someone who’d be a bad second round pick for most teams. Beane even said, “he can handle some carries too”. He’s obviously not a typical running back, or what a lot of teams need out of a second round RB pick. However, the added wrinkle he gives this particular offense could be huge. Cook has the potential to be a good second round value for this team.
  7. I have a feeling he’s probably posting from a pizza shop in Cheektowaga.
  8. You beat me to it. I love a good laugh, but comedic insults not based in reality are rarely funny. Spags is funny, but that one missed the mark.
  9. Great point, I’m really looking forward to seeing the stupid expression on Vrabel’s face when he realizes his team is awful. I have an irrational dislike of the Titans, and can’t wait for them to leave the mix of AFC pretenders.
  10. Can’t wait to watch Tannehill without him.
  11. Yeah, most people aren’t surprised, but I find it strange. I understand not picking up the option, but doesn’t that leave the Giants with a lame duck QB? It doesn’t seem like an ideal situation for a first year head coach. As you mentioned, I thought Daboll was going to “fix” Jones. I’d want to believe in my QB having some potential if I took the Giants head coaching job. It’s fair to move on from Jones in the future. I don’t think he has the ability to be a Super Bowl QB, but who’s to say you can’t sneak into the playoffs with him? I’d want Daboll to have a couple season to give it a try. They aren’t finding a QB in this draft, it’d make sense to have Jones in 2023. I’m not claiming Jones is any good, but it’s a weird move imo.
  12. Sure, but it’s also wise to treat your employees well. It doesn’t matter what any of us think about Lamar. Trading away your QBs favorite receiver isn’t what a team that likes their QB does.
  13. Maybe, personally I think they need to clean house. They have questionable ownership and employ a former “character coach” as Vice President. Their current structure reminds me of the drought era Bills.
  14. I feel bad for the first three selections this season. They’ll get an amazing paycheck, but what terrible franchises.
  15. Agree, that is interesting about NY state, but it’s mostly due to a lack of in state football talent. That’s why you see a couple New England states as well, the football talent just isn’t there.
  16. Madden for me. I have nothing but positive things to say about him as an announcer. He had the voice, knowledge, and a genuine love of the game. Al Michaels was excellent as well, but it seems like he’s stuck around too long, and my opinion of him probably isn’t as great as it once was.
  17. The only thing I got from this post was a moment of being really stressed I missed Mother’s Day.
  18. I’ve been critical of Knox in the past, but he really sounds like a guy who “gets it”. He isn’t going to fail due to lack of effort.
  19. Fair point, I just don’t understand giving up anything for a guy like Wentz. Franchise QB’s are rare, but you know you aren’t going anywhere with Wentz. The past few years seem to prove Wentz isn’t starter worthy He looks like a player who has the yips, or a toasted arm. Your point is valid, but I never liked how the Bills managed our QB drought either. I’d prefer a rookie or backup who hasn’t seen much NFL action over a washed up former starter. I’m not a fan of trying to start below average retreads at QB. It really offers no hope to your fanbase.
  20. Good point about Wentz being 29, but I don’t understand what more Wentz can do to prove he isn’t a franchise QB. Wentz as a franchise QB is over, he should be a backup.
  21. Sounds good, I’ve always wanted to see Andy Reid take a snap at running back.
  22. Yep, name recognition is all he has at this point. He was good earlier in his career, but even at his peak he never became what people thought he would be.
  23. I can’t see Reich going for Mayfield. I don’t see it as a fit personality wise.
  24. I think his numbers will continue to be phenomenal. Waller puts up huge numbers with Carr, so I don’t see any reason Adams can’t. Adams is an elite receiver. I used to be someone who underestimated the value of receivers until I watched our group with Allen early in his career. Adams clearly benefited from playing with Rodgers, but he’s great in his own right, much like Diggs. The $28M is where I have an issue. That’s probably not outrageous by today’s standards, but it’s a questionable move for the Raiders. Is anyone really convinced that Carr can take the Raiders to the Super Bowl? You don’t spend that money on a wideout if he isn’t. It’s a very typical Raiders move.
  25. I don’t know if Watson will fail, but people continue to underestimate the importance of a QB’s supporting cast. I was skeptical of Stafford, but we saw what LA did for him. The Texans eventually fell apart, but people forget the quality around Watson at one point. Watson had Hopkins and JJ Watt dominating both sides of the ball. What does he have in Cleveland?
