That’s what I’m curious about. I’m not in the SU basketball loop to the extent of some other folks on this board, so I’d be curious to know their thoughts. Is the era of Syracuse as an elite basketball program over? I’ve always seen Boeheim as being Syracuse, and don’t view Syracuse as the easiest place to recruit players these days.

At what sports event did you have your worst experience?

Any early April baseball game in cold weather climates. Baseball is meant to be a summer game, and it wasn’t remotely enjoyable in the cold, yet somehow I enjoy December Bills games. -
I love how Josh Allen fits in as a Buffalo guy. Aaron Rodgers as a NYC/NJ guy might be the worst fit ever. Those fans and media will turn on him quickly if it doesn’t immediately click, and Rodgers won’t take it well.

I wouldn’t because I can’t imagine it. QB’s like Josh Allen don’t have three straight losing seasons. That’s left for teams who win a title under freak circumstances. Allen is a franchise QB who should win at least one title in his career. That’s my issue with this “as long as we compete” mentality. Allen is a top QB, this franchise should win a title with him. Anything less is a failure. People who claim just competing is all you can ask for are correct, you can’t guarantee titles. Brees had one title with the Saints, but nonetheless he brought one home. I don’t expect a Super Bowl every year, but let’s not make excuses for this franchise if they can’t figure it out at least once during Allen’s career.

Will Levis, QB, Kentucky - BELIEVE IT OR NOT

I’m a fan of milk too, so I’m not personally dragging it down, but I wouldn’t say it’s a must for athletes. The majority of the worlds population can’t even digest milk properly. It doesn’t seem like something that would be great one size fits all dietary advice. -
Agree, it looks very much like a generic European generic soccer stadium. I think that’s why it hasn’t grown on me. I know we aren’t getting a dome, or an insanely priced palace, but I can’t get over the Euro soccer ambiance.
-
I agree, that is definitely the right attitude. I dream of a move to warmer climates, but there’s something annoying about the way athletes say these things. It feels like an unnecessary cheap shot. We’re all aware that it gets cold in Buffalo. I love warm weather as much as the next guy, but I don’t see the need to make jokes about sunshine. These athletes come to Buffalo, soak their ego with all the attention WNY gives them, then talk about how the weather stinks. The dude is from Oregon (lots of sunshine, I’m sure), stop acting all Miami. I wish him the best, but these guys act like they don’t have all offseason to party in Miami. The Bills are usually done in early January anyway, go enjoy Miami then.

It also seems almost anti-process, and at odds with the peace and love message we hear from OBD. I agree, if anyone deserved a second chance, it would be that guy, seems pretty rough. Let’s scapegoat the dude who faced the most adversity at his position, and return to playing prevent defense all game next season.

Agree, the OP’s premise is arena football not choosing Buffalo means the economy is weak. I don’t think arena football can be used to assess economic health, negative or positive. These leagues typically go for the largest markets, with occasional outliers. The original arena league with Buffalo as an expansion team was many years ago. Leagues all seem to use a large market business model now. I suppose we’ll see.
-
Right, but that doesn’t have much to do with a random arena football league placing a franchise in Buffalo imo. They’re looking at the entire country. These leagues tend to choose larger markets. Buffalo is the 53rd largest TV market in the US with Fort Myers/Naples soon to surpass it. Buffalo is a great sports town, but that doesn’t mean these type of leagues are coming here, and I don’t think we’re missing much. I’d rather see Sabres playoff games, and more great concerts in Buffalo. The novelty of these leagues wear off quickly, and I’m not convinced Buffalo, or anywhere can sustain them. The Bills consume most of my football energy, but I’m not going to say an arena team wouldn’t be cool either. I’d just be surprised.
-
It’s not just economics, it’s the size of the city as well. Buffalo isn’t one of the larger markets, and you eventually run out of people interested in these secondary leagues. There isn’t much interest anywhere in the country at this point. We’re a smaller market with an NFL franchise. How much demand for football from a lesser league does the city have? That doesn’t make us a bad sports town, it just means people moved on to hockey season. These leagues work best in markets without pro teams or larger markets. I understand your point, but I don’t think an arena football team can be used as measuring stick for Buffalo’s economy.

For everyone who doesn’t understand why this happened, it’s not strange at all. I don’t remember where I read the article, but the building planned on being lit in the colors of both conference champions. The KC colors were also shown. Football is kind of a big deal these days. Great joke from the sanitation department, but the Giants better hope they’re better at “taking out the trash” then the NYC sanitation department. If not, the Giants are in trouble.
