Game Day Thread? Bills @ Steelers 8/19

Loved Tasker the player, but it’s painful to hear him constantly referencing the wrong player. -

Elam is a massive disappointment at corner, we needed him to become CB2 imo. It’s beginning to look like another one of our questionable defensive picks. They need to figure out how to develop these guys. Majorly disappointing with a defensive head coach. -
They remind of the Eagles “dream team” a while back. I think Vince Young dubbed them the dream team when they went on a high end free agent shopping spree. This method rarely works in the NFL.
-
Yeah, I’d like to find time to do random research on that. How many mediocre college QB’s from elite conferences went on to become great NFL QB’s? I can’t think of any off the top of my head, but there are plenty of mid major program guys who fit the bill.

I agree. I understand different people are going to prefer different cities. However, I don’t get the tired comments about Buffalo having nothing to do/see. Each city has a unique culture and vibe, meaning you might feel more comfortable or at home in certain places, while other cities don’t fit ones personality. Weather is obviously a big part of life as well. I fully understand why someone might not love Buffalo, just as I’d understand with other cities. It’s all personal preference, but saying there’s nothing to do or see is disingenuous. I wish people who make these statements could give examples of similar sized cities with more to offer.

Wisconsin blog speculating about AJ Dillon and the Bills
SirAndrew replied to machine gun kelly's topic in The Stadium Wall
I agree, we have a nice group collectively, but it’s going to take work in figuring out to utilize them. It’s easy when you have a feature back to trust in every situation. We have a adequate group for a passing team, but the challenge is game planning. How do we utilize them in the right situations? I’m not convinced we’ve shown the ability to do so. -
I haven’t gotten over 13 seconds myself. I’ve questioned McD, but as much as I love Josh, some of it falls on him too. We had home field with a bye week, had Josh not fumbled on the goal line against the Vikings.

Eat Crow: Your most embarrassing Bills opinions
SirAndrew replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall
I was wrong about drafting Allen, but it didn’t take long to see his potential. I can’t say I got much wrong during the drought years, because I had zero confidence in this franchise at that point. -
Coughlin won two Super Bowls, so you’d think a self proclaimed genius could come up with a better put down.

Beasley claims Dak is "best leader he ever played with by far"...
SirAndrew replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall
I wouldn’t take it that seriously. Bease probably knows he isn’t coming back to Buffalo, but wouldn’t mind being a potential option for Dallas if they need help this season. It makes sense to flatter Dak in that situation, or maybe it is just a genuine opinion. -
Yeah, and a lot of people confuse being a good talker with knowledge and intelligence. That’s how the show has been so successful, but you can actually hear the same stuff on any sports talk show.

I don’t actually dislike the Giants, but struggle with them having a huge bandwagon fanbase. New York State (outside of WNY) is full of Giants fans when they win, but I haven’t heard from any of these fans in a decade.

Is there anything considered very Buffalo you don’t embrace?
SirAndrew replied to Another Fan's topic in Off the Wall
The attendance issues can be partially attributed to the park itself. It’s not a great value, as the park hasn’t received any useful updates in years. The place just doesn’t look like a modern amusement park. That works with smaller parks, but Darien Lake sells itself as the big fish in WNY. There’s too many better options in neighboring states to draw anyone there. They don’t even have a modern roller coaster in the park, while other parks are building new attractions with modern technology, Darien’s coasters were built in the 80’s and 90’s. -
Why did Isaiah McKenzie fail as starting Slot WR?
SirAndrew replied to JohnNord's topic in The Stadium Wall
That’s fair. I just had a tough time not seeing Crowder as the starting slot receiver. He came to Buffalo with six 50+ reception seasons, and was a reliable slot receiver who’d likely put up career numbers with Allen. I actually found the idea that McKenzie and Crowder were competing for the position to be somewhat bizarre. Crowder had a legitimate resume, while McKenzie was proven as an inconsistent gadget play. A reliable eight yard catch guy is preferable at starting slot over the occasion big play. Crowder could have coexisted with McKenzie as a big play gadget guy. I think you’re correct, they hoped one of the two darts would land, but Crowder would have easily been my starter. We already knew what we had in McKenzie, a big play guy you can’t trust in big spots. I think Beane and McDermott are spectacular, but I can’t say I fully trust their player assessments. Obviously Crowder’s greatest weakness is his inability to stay healthy, and the rest is history. -
Why did Isaiah McKenzie fail as starting Slot WR?
SirAndrew replied to JohnNord's topic in The Stadium Wall
People forget that Crowder was supposed to be the slot guy taking over Beasley’s old job. His career indicates good numbers with Allen were likely, but injury stopped that plan. McKenzie was never the plan for starting slot receiver. This regime clearly didn’t trust him in that role, he just took over following that injury. I know some people thought the slot receiver position was up for grabs last summer, but that was Crowder’s job. -

SirAndrew replied to JohnNord's topic in The Stadium Wall
McKenzie was insanely overrated by much of the fanbase, and could never live up to that hype. He has speed, but lacks the talent and football smarts to be an elite slot receiver. He’s an average player, who can contribute nice things as a gadget speedster. McKenzie was a fifth round pick who never caught on after two years in Denver, yet we expected him to be an elite slot guy. He’s a decent gadget player, and there’s nothing wrong with that type of guy for depth, but I think we expected too much from him. -
Concert setlists, do you check them out ahead of time?
SirAndrew replied to Just Jack's topic in Off the Wall
I check them out just to be sure attending the concert is worth my effort. I’ve seen most of my favorite acts several times, and don’t want to spend money to see the same set list repeatedly. -
2023 PFF Game Simulator --- Have fun at it
SirAndrew replied to BillsFanThru-N-Thru's topic in The Stadium Wall
I’m not saying Cook can’t have a good season, but I’m super confident he won’t have over 1,000 rushing yards, yet the sim often gives him over 1,500. -

Additionally, the schedule might not be as tough as it appears. We have no idea how good teams will be this year, simply based on last season. The only guarantees are teams with elite QB’s like Allen, Mahomes, and Burrow. Other teams are capable of a decline at any point. I’m not sure why the Patriots or Dolphins are considered great teams, we don’t know if Rodgers still has it, and Daniel Jones with NY isn’t a guy I trust. There’s a few overrated teams on this schedule, and if we can’t beat them, we aren’t very good anyway. -
Players That Should Be HOF Inductee's But Are Not .
SirAndrew replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think the football HOF does a really good job. There aren’t many players where it’s a travesty they haven’t made it. Ask me this question about the Rock & Roll HOF and I could go on for days. -
I’m tired of all the Fish, Jets, Ravens talk. The Chiefs and Bengals remain our real issue.
