Plus Mayfield always seems to play well when he’s angry or has something prove. His first game as Bucs starter with something to prove fits the bill.

It would also be the perfect introduction of Derek Carr to New Orleans fans. A very Derek Carr loss.

Pickett looks like every modern country singer before they hit it big and get a haircut.

I like Purdy more than Pickett, simply because the situation he’s in. Pickett needs to be something more to help the Steelers contend. Purdy is surrounded by insane talent, and a great offensive system. That’s not necessarily Pickett’s fault, but I see Purdy in a better light due to those factors. I will give Purdy tons of credit for being a smart QB, he makes the right reads, and seems to understand the offense. Pickett seem more of a work in progress.

That’s fair, I think they might be able to win with him if they play Steeler ball. That means dominating both sides of the line. However, he doesn’t have the “it factor” most star QB’s have these days. I don’t see the crazy physical gifts, or Burrow like decision making that successful QB’s have in this era.

Yeah, Pickett wouldn’t give me much confidence if I were a Steelers fan. It’s early in his career, but he looks lost far too often.

Agree, but there seem to be special NFL honor codes. Coaches used to be far more passionate about those type of things. I don’t think I’ve seen a coach call out refs since the advent of these halftime interviews.

KC doesn’t have good receivers beyond Kelce at all. I didn’t realize that before tonight.

The Lions D is an obvious strength, and it’ll keep them competitive all year. My concern is they don’t seem to play smart football. Fielding that punt was exhibit A.

That’s my issue with the Lions. I actually don’t trust Goff or Campbell. They deserve credit for last year, and it seems they’ve turned things around, but QB/Coach combos mean everything. Goff has been an up and down player his entire career, and Campbell coaches with an emotional, high energy style. It seems those type of leaders find it difficult to sustain success.

I’m more than ready for a new NFL season, but having a tough time getting excited about this matchup. The Chiefs have become the new Pats, I’ve seen too much of them, and Mahomes perfection has become boring to watch.

Maybe we’ll get a sixth for Elam next year. I actually think Beane has been a great GM but I don’t like much about our approach to drafting defensive players. We’ve made too many redundant picks, along with guys who seem incompatible with our scheme, and coaches can’t figure out how to use them. Wasted draft picks on defense might be the greatest hurdle to this generation of Bills being champs. Picks like Elam and Basham would have been better used on offensive linemen.

Yeah, I like the idea of a better backup, but are they really out there? I just looked at Mason Rudolph vs Kyle Allen stats, and they’re similar, with a smaller sample size from Rudolph. Additionally, I don’t trust Rudolph and Dodson together.

True, but nothing that happens in Washington is astonishing.

I don’t take much from this game, but will say I don’t think I’ve ever seen a coach take off his glasses at halftime. When your coach can’t even figure out if he wants to wear glasses, you slowly lose faith in everything else.
