It’s missing the option of only trading up for MHJ. I’m staying put at 28 if I can’t get Harrison. He’s the only guy I’d make a big move for. I don’t think there’s enough separation with the others to justify moving up. Harrison is going to be special, the rest have equal boom/bust potential.

Draft Joe Milton QB from Tennessee in 5th (or 6th) round?
SirAndrew replied to Desert Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yep, I watch a lot of college football, and he threw the most impressive ball I saw last season. Trouble is they landed in the middle of nowhere. -
I love the game of baseball itself, but everything associated with MLB has become a joke. The NFL makes ridiculous moves, but they’re such a loved institution it doesn’t matter. MLB already shredded the minor league system, and seems insistent on bringing the game to fewer fans, at a time they should be reaching out to more fans. Baseball isn’t a TV driven sport like football, they should be looking for an opportunity to bring the game to a larger paying audience, not a 14K seat stadium.

I think Beane has done a great job overall, but he gets carried away with signing subpar veteran players. People like pointing to the Diggs and Knox contracts, but I don’t mind taking a chance with special talent. It doesn’t always work out, and that’s ok. We lost more money signing below average offensive and defensive lineman when cheaper options were available. It’s the smaller amounts that add up to big numbers, just like personal finance. The excessive small unnecessary purchases are what destroys the budget. That’s what’s happened here the past offseason.

Buffalo is a small city in a large market game. I think the media in this town feel a need to play nice to retain access to the team. The media in larger markets have always been more harsh, and not afraid to ruffle feathers. Buffalo media has been an extension of OBD for decades by default. A good deal of the fanbase was brainwashed into thinking the drought years weren’t so bad.

I really do like Beane, but he needs to get over his love of aging big name players. It’s just a waste money. I’d rather bring in guys with the potential to improve.
-
I’d trade up for MHJ, which won’t happen, but I wouldn’t for anyone else. I don’t see the bust potential being any greater for a receiver we take at 28.
-
Do I think we win it all? No. Can we win it all? Yes. In reality none of the guys we lost this offseason contributed much to the run we made in the second half of last season.
-
I still believe there’s a chance we don’t make any big splash at the receiver position. I don’t think there’s going to be a big trade, and wouldn’t be shocked if we don’t draft WR in the first round. This isn’t what I prefer, but I’m not convinced this regime values that position as much as fans and the media.

That’s fair, I forget Beane wasn’t the GM in Carolina, that’s on me. I do however see striking similarities in the construction of the Cam Newton led Panthers and this Bills team.
-
I don’t hate the trade, and I think Beane did a brilliant job turning us into contenders. However, I’m starting to see Beane and McD display some of the traits that ended Beane’s tenure in Carolina. Beane is team building the same way he did in Carolina, and it didn’t end great. I worry he’s repeating the same mistakes.
-
I’m alright with the trade because I don’t think Diggs is the same guy anymore. I am worried about not having someone who can stretch the field. I don’t know if Kincaid will ever be that guy. I think he can be great, but I don’t see any Kelce in him. Additionally, KC did just fine with mediocre receivers, but Allen is a different QB. He needs someone who can make big plays, win contested catches, and stretch the field. Allen slinging it downfield is too important to not have that type of receiver.
-
I have mixed feelings about this. It feels almost seems very “Patriot Way” like. We’re dumping a player who’s on the wrong side of 30, looking to future. I’m sad to see someone leave who meant so much to the Bills when we became contenders. We’re letting a player go who apart from Allen is the only elite talent on the roster. It feels like a divorce where I’m remembering all the good times, and everything Diggs should be to help us win a title. However, there’s another side that thinks Diggs isn’t that guy anymore. He might not be an elite receiver, he might have become the guy we saw during the second half of last season.

I like the fact that Memphis, San Antonio, Birmingham, and St.Louis are in this league. The idea of a spring league in smaller markets without an NFL team is great. Fan enthusiasm is important to me when trying to get into a new league. If I don’t see any interest in the stands, why should I be interested? It adds a human element that I find important. On the same note, I don’t understand why these leagues keep trying DC, Dallas, and Houston. Texas loves football, but those large markets aren’t going to care, they already have enough football to stay occupied.

We’re lucky to witness this Josh Allen led era of Bills football. I don’t like to nitpick, but only one thing bothers me about the current team. The Chiefs are better than us seems to be the mantra of this franchise. I realize the Chiefs are three time champs, but we need a little more swagger. We need to believe we are as good as them, we need believe we are a Super Bowl team. Instead, I hear coaches and players state the other side is just better. That’s not the mindset of champions. This team has a lot to be proud of, but I wish the public statements that hint KC is better would stop.

What are your thoughts on the Steelers QB situation?
SirAndrew replied to JerseyBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
Fields is a bust who isn’t good enough, and Wilson is washed up. It’s simple as that, people are overthinking this. The Steelers will win games with defense and Tomlin’s coaching, but they haven’t solved their QB problem. -
I wonder if pro sports leagues already do that. Canada has MLB, NFL, and NHL. I’ve never heard any complaints about taxes in those leagues.

We’ll see if other local businesses feel the same. The funeral director wasn’t going to bring a very lively crowd anyway.

Stadium Construction Discussion (No PSL/Seat selection posts)
SirAndrew replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah, very disadvantageous to let the location of a potential stadium get out. I wouldn’t put it past Haslam to leave Cleveland if this doesn’t work out at the right price. -
I think you just summed this up very well. The highest PSL’s are not geared towards “legitimate” fans. I don’t want to veer off topic, but this type of investment geared sale is very commonplace outside the sports world these days as well.
-
Yep, and anyone thinking Josh Allen is going to get all these calls are fooling themselves.
-
This is my biggest issue with more new rules. I can see KC winning five titles in a row once the refs call a “hip drop” tackle on every crucial play. I’m all about player safety, but this stuff is impractical in a game of tackle football.

Bills Titans 1999 playoff game on air today 1230
SirAndrew replied to davefan66's topic in The Stadium Wall
A few things I gather from that game. We had an amazing defense, and it was a shame to waste. Eric Moulds would be an all time great if he ever had a QB. 2002 Bledsoe during the first half of the season was the only time. Lastly, I can’t believe that anyone thought/thinks Johnson was a decent QB. I’m not starting a Flutie vs Johnson debate, just saying the guy wasn’t good enough. QB play was a big reason the 1999 Bills didn’t go far. -
Pass rusher. A huge need not being talked about enough
SirAndrew replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall
I’m going to give a hot take. I don’t think pass rushers are paramount to defensive success as much as the past. Most elite QB’s are mobile athletic guys who can move around the pocket. I’m not saying pass rushers can’t make a difference, but they can be neutralized. Every year the playoffs come around, I fail to see pass rushers make big plays. The 49ers have Bosa who made zero difference in the Super Bowl, and the Lions Hutchinson wasn’t enough to slow the 49ers in the NFC title game either. -
As others pointed out, most of Kincaid’s “issues” have more to do with the way he was used in this offense. I know this opinion isn’t very popular, but Dorsey and Brady were quite similar. Neither OC figured how to use our skill players to their max potential.
