I predict the Gailey/Fitz offense will look great for a year or less before it quickly falls apart. There’s kind of a history of that with these two. That alone makes me a bit confused about the Fish plans.

What was the Bill's Play-of-the-Decade?
SirAndrew replied to cage's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Another vote for Dalton to Boyd TD here. I’m also good with the McCoy blizzard run against the Colts. The Kyle Williams TD run against the Dolphins in the 2017 finale was also awesome, especially considering what happened with the Bengals game shortly after. I‘m only willing to pick plays from 2017-2019. The rest of the decade we were a team with no direction going nowhere, so who cares about great plays that had no meaning? I only remember great plays that are part of something bigger. -
NFL Black Monday - Coaching Changes
SirAndrew replied to wppete's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think guys like Brady and Brees set an unrealistic precedent that QB’s can all excel in their late 30’s. There’s a legitimate chance that Rodgers is somewhat on the decline, and many more QB’s will continue do the same in their mid 30’s. -
Good take. Analyzing a QB isn’t always about who they are playing with, or yards thrown. There is so much more that goes into it. Of course, Barkley wasn’t going to have a great game with our backup WR’s, but there are fundamental abilities he lacks. These issues show regardless of situation. His pocket awareness also leaves a lot to be desired. When forced to play a backup QB, you hope the guy limits mistakes allowing his team to stay in games. Barkley’s inability to feel pressure would make that very difficult. He’s the type of guy who’s going to take terrible sacks, and turn the ball over due to lack of pocket awareness. That’s not the play you want from a backup. Anytime a backup QB makes a play it’s a bonus, what you really ask for is mistake free football. I don’t think Barkley can do that with his arm, and subpar pocket presence.
-
He has zero pocket awareness, panics at the first sign of pressure, turnover prone, fumbles and picks galore, and very bad ones at that. A ton of his yardage came in garbage time trailing by ten, which is something the Allen led Bills haven’t played in much to pile up those stats. Honestly, I’m probably biased though. I watched him at USC where he was overrated , and followed him with the Bears and Eagles where he was also terrible. I’m just not willing to believe he has improved enough to trust him in a backup role. He never had an good arm, and that is a big problem.
-
I’d also evaluate his performance based on what I’ve seen his entire career, including yesterday. The Jets game last year was an anomaly, and most of this board chooses to remember that. Barkley is not a good backup in any sense of the word imo.

I think many of us fans give Barkley too much credit. The guy has been awful since his senior year at USC. He is a lower tier backup.

I agree, it’s been a fun season, and I really like this team. I think we can compete any given Sunday, but we’re not more feared than any other playoff team. If we had a consistent offense, teams would be petrified to play us. Right now, any team that trusts their offense to make a few plays has no reason fear us in the playoffs. With that said, I’m not saying we can’t win a playoff game.

Playing the starters for two series
SirAndrew replied to ILBillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
“They” didn’t keep their routine. Josh Allen did, none of the starting WR’s or Singletary were in the lineup. I’d understand the routine argument if all the starters played both series, but it was only Allen. I’m not sure how that helps keep the routine imo. -
The league would love that matchup with their NFL 100 business this season.

Kitchens is awful, and in no way is he NFL worthy head coaching material. However, I think Mayfield is going to get a lot of people fired over his career.

Week 17: NJ Jets at Buffalo Bills PostGame
SirAndrew replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good point, but we need to at least draft a QB in hopes he develops into a number two. Barkley is a third string QB in this league. What we saw today is the real Barkley. This is the guy Philly and Chicago fans know. Bills fans only remember his game against the Jets, and looking good in the preseason. -
It’s not, it’s just different when the book has been written in the mind of a coaching staff. In sports (or any area of life), you’re given more chances when you have a decent rep. This coaching staff doesn’t seem too high on Williams. I think he did enough to be active next week, but I’m just saying I wouldn’t be shocked if he’s not.
-
I doubt it. McD is not going to be pleased with the huge drop, and the celebration after a 7 yard reception that forced a TO. He had a decent game, but his mistakes will reinforce what this staff already seems to think about him imo. I could be wrong, because at least he’s useful unlike McKenzie. I’m just not convinced the coaching staff feels the same.
