Brady and the Bucs get 5 Primetime games
SirAndrew replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I actually understand it somewhat. Belichick in New England without Brady is a pretty big storyline. Everyone is anxious to see how it turns out. At the same time, five does seem like a bit much. Who really wants to watch Stidham that often? -
Talk of no alcohol at NFL games this season.

There’s no way the league knows what will happen, no one does. They are just moving ahead under the assumption of normal. I hope they are correct, that’s all I can say. -

Going to a Bills game is like attending a party. It’s a chance to meet up with friends and have a good time. The party atmosphere along the game itself is the reason I go. Without the party element, I can just stay home. That doesn’t mean I’m being irresponsible, or don’t care about the game itself, but it’s what tips the scale in favor of me buying a ticket. -

I agree, and not to turn away from the topic, but the whole “new normal” thing doesn’t appeal to me either. I’ll be back at games when the stadium can be filled to capacity. I understand taking precautions, but I’m not capable of living life in fear, no matter how justified. I don’t want to go to a game with 15,000 people where everyone who crosses paths needs to remember the six foot rule, and treat each other as if they have the plague. I deal with it to buy groceries, I’d rather watch the game in the comfort of my home under a limited capacity situation. If 15,000 fans showed up, and it wasn’t due to the virus, I think it’d fun. I just don’t have any desire to go out to have a good time, only to be reminded how messed up the world is right now. I’d say social distancing need not apply, because Coronavirus is the least of your concerns. -
The Browns should be great on offense when looking at it on paper, but I think the Browns will be trash as usual. The coaching is an upgrade over Kitchens, but nothing to write home about. This team still has no leadership. Mayfield isn’t a leader, Beckham and Landry are a train wreck of drama. It’s still a terrible locker room, and a losing formula. I said the same thing last season, and I’m sticking with it this year. So many people told me I was full of it, and they were too talented to fail.

Exactly, if he wanted to build culture he could retire and become a coach. I’m not doubting Gore as a mentor, but it’s ridiculous how little he contributes as a running back at this point. Good point, I just can’t believe anyone would sign him as a player.

Auditor: Favre received welfare money for no-show speeches
SirAndrew replied to Saxum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Favre has done plenty of things that could have damaged his reputation over the years, sports media always chose to look the other way because he’s so beloved. With that said, who knows what happened here until more comes out. -

Yeah, I read the article slightly wrong, as someone pointed out. I guess they might “suggest” fans over 70 stay home. Just seems like an arbitrary number written by someone without much knowledge. I rarely see anyone over 70 at New Era anyway. I’d assume that crowd is more likely to be in a suite or something to begin with. Amen. If they don’t sell beer in the name of Covid 19, it will never come back. If people are good with it this season, it’s never coming back. -

I’ll be a toddler on this one, because if all I hear is Covid 19 news 24/7 into the fall, I’ll need beer more than ever. There’s nothing I’d love more right now than the diversion of going to game and drinking beer. -

Because it doesn’t make sense to me. The stats show that being 60, or even 50 plus can be really bad with this virus. 70 isn’t some magic number, and it’s just another random bit of nonsense someone threw out. They’ll also need to encourage anyone with pre existing conditions to stay home, regardless of age. For that matter, maybe they should just ask men to stay home since this virus is twice as deadly to men. My point is that 70 isn’t some magic number. If all we need to do is protect people over 70, why not end this all, and just tell people 70 plus to stay home. Yes, older people are more likely to suffer complications from this virus, but 70 isn’t the magic number where it becomes dangerous. The virus becomes more fatal as age increases, like anything else, but is being 62 any better than being 70? Not really. If age suggestions are in place for stadium admittance, that means there will be no fans this year imo. The point of prohibiting large gathering is to protect those vulnerable to the virus as well. If you have 70,000 thirty year olds gathered in a stadium passing germs, they bring them back into the community to pass on to the older folks as well. There won’t be fans if we are still this concerned with the virus in the fall imo. I’m not an expert by any means, but I just don’t see this scenario. -

I quit reading when he said he could see a scenario with no fans over 70 allowed. It proves the entire article is a hack. -
What is the one spot on the roster that still has a hole?
SirAndrew replied to Buffalo03's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yep, when you look at the Super Bowl winners of the past decade or so, most teams had decent TE’s. It’s become an important position in pro football. I think we can be successful without huge production from the TE, but can we take the next step without a reliable TE ? My biggest concern is not necessarily lacking an elite TE, but having players who will hurt us. It’s one thing to lack production, but it’s another to miss blocks and drop passes on a regular basis. That’s an even bigger issue than not putting up huge numbers. -

Tight end, I’m not a huge Knox fan. He’s a raw talent with very little college experience. Guys like that don’t work out very often. He has all the physical attributes of a great one, but needs to improve everything to become a viable starter. I hope I’m wrong, and he becomes great. We have holes at other positions, but I’m most concerned we might not get any production from the TE position. We have nothing behind Knox with Kraft and Croom, unless Sweeney proves to be a diamond in the rough. -
Dalton to the Cowboys 1yr $7M per Schefter
SirAndrew replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, the Pats would be bad enough with that QB room, regardless of the roster. It’s made worse by the fact that BB is a terrible GM. He’s built solid defensive teams, but hasn’t built a respectable offense. Brady bailed out all of the mistakes BB made attempting to find talent on offense. Now the Pats are left without a legit QB, and almost no skill position talent on offense. -

I have a weird feeling he’s starting for them at some point this season. -
This is exactly how I feel. I was a believer in those teams back in 03 and 04. I realized that most of our teams after that point didn’t have the talent to be competitive. None of the hot starts really fooled me, but 03 and 04 were real letdowns. Bledsoe felt like a legitimate QB, although he proved to be a bust here. After Bledsoe we started a bunch of guys who are backup level QB’s, and only fans who fooled themselves could have really believed in those guys.
-
I don’t want to see Fromm play either. My hope is that Allen starts all 19 games this season. Our season is over if a backup QB is on the field. I agree we “don’t need to see what we have”, and Fromm should only get the backup job if he beats out Barkley. With that said, I’m confident that Fromm can beat out Barkley, and personally I’d rather see Fromm start a game over Barkley. Barkley is a below average backup, and his career proves that imo. I agree that Fromm shouldn’t be handed the backup job, but I hope he can win the job. I’d rather go with the unknown than a guy in Barkley who has proven he can’t play at the NFL level.

2003 is a great choice. We’ve had worse teams, but that was the most frustrating imo. I thought we had a really good defense and a decent QB (Bledsoe) who was good enough to take us to the playoffs. Many of us were wrong about both, and we should have seen it coming from the second half of Bledsoe’s 2002 season. 2004 isn’t being mentioned, but the loss to the Steelers backups that season was an all time low. That season started out so poorly before we made a run in the second half of the season led by McGahee. It was one of the more exciting second halves of a season I remember. Missing out on the playoffs was tough that year. I never really got frustrated during the Fitz/Gailey years, or Edwards/Jauron years because my expectations were non existent.

THIS is the Bills Cowboys game you want to re-watch
SirAndrew replied to WhoTom's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Those Super Bowl teams had some amazing talent on D, but this team still won with offense. You couldn’t expect them to shutout teams in the Super Bowl, that’s not how it went during the regular season. When I look back at the Redskins game, and the two Cowboys Super Bowls, the offense didn’t help out the D much either. Fumbles and interceptions were the norm during our Super Bowl appearances. That was never how our offense played during the regular season. -

SirAndrew replied to WhoTom's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A big guy in the center probably would have won the first Super Bowl when Anderson ran wild. The other three would have been losses regardless imo. The fact the offense didn’t show up to play for any of those games was a lot to overcome when those Bills teams were built on offense. -
Rd 5, Pick 167: QB Jake Fromm, Georgia
SirAndrew replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh my, maybe if he stays away from his college buddies in Georgia, he’ll be alright fishing. Something about country boys, water activities, and the possible addition of cheap beer never goes well.
