I think many of us fans give Barkley too much credit. The guy has been awful since his senior year at USC. He is a lower tier backup.

I agree, it’s been a fun season, and I really like this team. I think we can compete any given Sunday, but we’re not more feared than any other playoff team. If we had a consistent offense, teams would be petrified to play us. Right now, any team that trusts their offense to make a few plays has no reason fear us in the playoffs. With that said, I’m not saying we can’t win a playoff game.

“They” didn’t keep their routine. Josh Allen did, none of the starting WR’s or Singletary were in the lineup. I’d understand the routine argument if all the starters played both series, but it was only Allen. I’m not sure how that helps keep the routine imo.

The league would love that matchup with their NFL 100 business this season.

QB is a big part of establishing a culture though. This will continue to be a problem for any Mayfield team, unless he can somehow improve this issue.

Kitchens is awful, and in no way is he NFL worthy head coaching material. However, I think Mayfield is going to get a lot of people fired over his career.

Mixon is skilled at knocking people out.

Good point, but we need to at least draft a QB in hopes he develops into a number two. Barkley is a third string QB in this league. What we saw today is the real Barkley. This is the guy Philly and Chicago fans know. Bills fans only remember his game against the Jets, and looking good in the preseason.

It’s not, it’s just different when the book has been written in the mind of a coaching staff. In sports (or any area of life), you’re given more chances when you have a decent rep. This coaching staff doesn’t seem too high on Williams. I think he did enough to be active next week, but I’m just saying I wouldn’t be shocked if he’s not.

I doubt it. McD is not going to be pleased with the huge drop, and the celebration after a 7 yard reception that forced a TO. He had a decent game, but his mistakes will reinforce what this staff already seems to think about him imo. I could be wrong, because at least he’s useful unlike McKenzie. I’m just not convinced the coaching staff feels the same.

One of the more confusing coaching decisions I’ve ever seen imo. Not a big deal, but play Allen all game, or not at all. Putting him in for two series with backups all around was just strange.

Instead we were treated to this delightful game against the Jets. Happy we’re in the playoffs, but in a weird way, it was kind of a depressing day.

Having a third WR who belongs in the NFL would be nice, and is a necessity imo. Just my two cents though. We saw Duke, and Duke is no good. I don’t get what people are see.

Good point, but many of backups on the offensive side need to be better. Our WR’s depth is incredibly bad, and is a problem in the modern NFL where teams use so many WR’s. We have no one past our top two who belong on the field.

No arm strength, pocket awareness, and playing with WR’s who aren’t NFL caliber is a bad mix. We need to fix the backup QB position, and WR depth. No one behind Brown and Beasley belong on an NFL roster at that position.

Duke is trash

Yeah, we’re lucky we didn’t see him forced into action this year. The backup spot needs an upgrade, Barkley is actually really bad.

My earliest memories of the Bills are quite similar to yours. I remember the last two Super Bowls, but the first full season I recall was 94. I’m not sure how accurate my memory is, but I remember thinking Kelly had begun to decline quite significantly. I was too young to fully understand the game, and the team certainly had other issues, but Kelly stood out to me.

They could get hurt at any point. For example, is a Josh Allen injury this Sunday or next preseason worse? An injury to a guy like Allen at any point is detrimental to this franchise. It could happen at any time. Imo, anyone in an uproar about Allen playing this Sunday should be opposed to him playing at all next preseason.

Great post, and good points. I think it’s fair to give McD the benefit of doubt. I’ll take a meticulous attention to detail and desire to improve over complacency. There is absolutely a risk, but they have been attempting to build a culture. Taking every opportunity to improve, and playing to win every game is a culture thing.

We could make a run in the playoffs, but aren’t a realistic contender for winning the Super Bowl. If we were a contender with an experienced QB, I’d say sit the starters. Our guys need experience, and Allen is just as likely to get hurt next preseason. It’s not all about this postseason, it’s about building a sustainable future. Getting reps helps with that. If someone does get hurt, are we really going to say that’s the reason we didn’t win the Super Bowl? This is all about the big picture, not just this postseason.

They’re playing good football, I’m just speaking to the fact that some believe Rodgers has declined. I think it has more to do with the offensive scheme, and what’s being asked of him.

Talk about Rodger’s decline all you want, but this Packers offense is really conservative under LeFleur. Lots of screen plays and runs. McCarthy was a disaster, but I’m not sure this is how I’d utilize Rodgers either.
