  1. That’s comparing apples and oranges imo. The average person pursuing a career, better weather, or lower taxes isn’t the same as a pro football player. Your reference to better jobs and lower taxes are money related issues. People often leave an area to make more money, but if Buffalo is the place where a player can earn the most, they’re coming here imo. Remember that football players aren’t necessarily laying down roots where they play either. These guys are free to live anywhere they choose during the off-season. Much different scenario than WNY expats.
  2. Come across as immature at times, and varies from taking accountability for his career one day, to taking none the next. Good thing there are some legit playmakers on that team so he can ride their coattails to the big game.
  3. I think our fan base is amazing, but I’m not convinced that Buffalo has this untapped market for football fans who have yet to attend games at New Era Field. There’s not really a hidden wine and cheese in Buffalo waiting for a football palace to built. There also aren’t Fortune 500 companies waiting to dish out the big bucks. A new stadium would definitely maximize profits, but it would need to a modest stadium, and I think the comish would still be let down.
  4. Bingo. I think both of those things happened. I’m not sure if their success provides any type of “blueprint”. They were very fortunate in hitting a home run with Mahomes, and got lucky finding gems in Hill and Kelce.
  5. Yeah, most guys like Buffalo once they play here. They live in a bubble that makes it tough to be educated on these matters. Nightlife might not be glitzy, but it works for most of our players. Opposing players don’t get to experience much of anything.
  6. I agree, the media doesn’t accurately portray Buffalo weather. It’s obviously a far cry from tropical, but other than lake effect snow, it’s not much different from most midwestern cities. Also, keep in mind that lake effect is very localized (sometimes in OP). The way they address the cold has always driven me crazy. You’ll be watching a Bills game, and they’ll often refer to the “frigid” Buffalo weather. People are under the impression that Buffalo has Arctic temps. Our average temperatures aren’t much different from the cities of the Midwest. In fact, some of them are far colder.
  7. Buffalo isn’t as cookie cutter as many cities. It actually has history, and lacking charm is the last word I’d use. However, remember these guys drive from the airport to OP. It’s not exactly the most impressive or thrilling journey. Everything else they know about Buffalo comes solely from what the media has conditioned them to believe. Football players also aren’t generally known as high level intellectuals. Most twenty something athletes just want hip nightspots and sunshine.
  8. I’m all about winning, but this Bills team is also really like able. I’m happy not having a Tyreek Hill or Hunt on the roster. I’ll take talent over being a model citizen everyday of the week, but that means I’m more tolerant of guys like Terrell Owens, not dudes who can date anyone they want, yet choose to beat their partners.
  9. No TV at all. Really don’t watch anything other than football on television these days.
  10. I get your point, and history indicates that Jackson’s style of play won’t last long in the NFL. I wouldn’t bet money on him being a franchise QB for years, but I also wouldn’t bet against it. The league is changing, Manning, Roethlisberger, and Brady no longer dominate the AFC. There is an opening for QB’s to be successful. Mahomes is in a league of his own, and everyone below him has an opportunity to lead a successful team.
  11. Ralph was an “old money” kind of a guy. The type of wealthy man of which few exist these days. He was never flashy or concerned with trying to outspend others. That mentality differentiated him from what the NFL had become, but I truly believe his heart was in the right place, and that can be a rare trait.
  12. Hopefully McD and Daboll coach many virtual two minute drills so they can learn how to attack for six instead of settling for three.
  13. We play the Seahawks at home though.
  14. It’s only a matter of time before London hosts a draft at this rate.
  15. I think it’s true that people need to move on from the fact we didn’t draft Mahomes, I also think it’s equally true that people need to move on from being annoyed when media/fans point out we didn’t take him. It’s an easy storyline, and I couldn’t care less how long people continue to point it out. It doesn’t really bother me, let Josh win some hardware, and no one will be discussing any of this.
  16. I agree, a Rodgers vs Mahomes matchup was more intriguing to me, but honestly I don’t think Rodgers is the Rodgers of old these days.
  17. Nice effort by Rodgers trying to get the ball back. Sure, his momentum carried him back, but he made no effort to get in the play. Guy seems disinterested, but gets by on sheer talent. Cam Newton was destroyed by the media for a similar play.
  18. Titans remind me so much of the 2017 Jags.
  19. And an O line that blocks. This forum overrates our O line big time.
  20. Rooting for a Chiefs Packers Super Bowl. I have a feeling that Vrabel vs Jimmy G will result in constant Pats talk.
  21. It was just nice to see a couple dozen Titans fans exist.
  22. I don’t have anything against the guy. The problem with Watkins is the fact he’s not elite. As the forth overall pick, the cost to sign the guy has always outweighed his oft injured production. He’s simply not worth what it takes to sign as far as value is concerned. I’m convinced that John Brown gave us just as much or more than Sammy would have. Brown had really good numbers this season, and they were better than Watkins (who plays with Mahomes).
  23. Forgot that one play. He does have games where he looks elite, but he also disappears and is injured far too often. I’m not saying he’s bad, just saying that he’s not worth the price.
  24. I agree, but still believe John Brown was just as productive as Sammy could have been last season. Watkins isn’t DeAndre Hopkins or Michael Thomas. Brown had a good season, but people will always assume Watkins is better because he was drafted higher, and came into the league with more hoopla. John Brown isn’t dominant, but neither is Sammy Watkins.
  25. The fanboys also need to realize he had two catches in that game. One coming when the Chiefs already had a big lead. He’s not terrible, but his production isn’t at the level of where he was drafted, and thought of as a generational talent. He’s benefited from being on the Chiefs. His numbers are far from impressive there, they’d be very pedestrian on a typical offense. The dude was supposed to be dominant. I’ve never seen Sammy catch that pass Duke dropped in the end zone. His inability to make contested catches was one of my biggest criticisms of him. Sammy is average with Mahomes, he’d no more productive than Brown was this season. Plus he’s hurt half the season.
