I like placing a bet on a SF skill player, but I’d never do the same with a KC skill player. The Chiefs spread the ball around too much, and if Hill, Watkins, Kelce have a big game, I’m thinking the MVP is going to Mahomes.

Point well taken. It just confuses me why Bills tickets have almost no resale value in the second half of the season. That’s the only thing that gives pause to thinking a substantial increase in ticket prices would work. Resale value of all teams with outdoor stadiums in cold climes decrease at that time, but ours drop significantly compared to others. Sure, resale buyers are willing to spend over a hundred for the early season games, and it’s a good profit for many STH’s selling those seats. My question is how much more are STH’s willing to pay at a new stadium ? Those people paying over a hundred early in the season are purchasing single game tickets. A few times a season might not be a big deal for many, but will the STH’s of Buffalo tolerate a huge price increase? I do understand your point. The team profits most from season ticket holders, not single game seat buyers. If STH’s are willing to pay more, then that’s all that matters to the team.

I’m not really for or against a new stadium. I get your point, but I’m not sure building a new football stadium is indicative of people not doing what it takes to make Buffalo great. Countless studies have shown that new stadiums do little to economically benefit the community. They simply benefit the owners on the backs of the taxpayer. I don’t think this an old cynic vs younger generation issue, it’s just a matter of differing economic beliefs.

How much can prices really be increased in Buffalo though? I don’t think anyone has the real answer. I’m skeptical they can increase all that much. Why can’t we sell games out in December, and tickets go so cheaply on stubhub? I think the market for selling tickets to eight games in Buffalo is limited, and price increases won’t help. We’ve all heard it’s because the outdoor stadium, but Green Bay sellout every game. I’ve looked at Packer tickets in December on Stubhub, and they aren’t close to being as cheap as ours. Things like that make me skeptical about a significant price increase working. I hear you, but the NFL just doesn’t care, although they should. They moved a team to a 20K seat soccer stadium just to be in LA. This league jumped the shark long ago. I just don’t understand Goodell’s bullying. Pegula owns the team, what power does Rog have when it comes to what the owner does with his stadium? I’m honestly confused by that, and anyone is welcomed to educate me on it.

That’s comparing apples and oranges imo. The average person pursuing a career, better weather, or lower taxes isn’t the same as a pro football player. Your reference to better jobs and lower taxes are money related issues. People often leave an area to make more money, but if Buffalo is the place where a player can earn the most, they’re coming here imo. Remember that football players aren’t necessarily laying down roots where they play either. These guys are free to live anywhere they choose during the off-season. Much different scenario than WNY expats.

I think our fan base is amazing, but I’m not convinced that Buffalo has this untapped market for football fans who have yet to attend games at New Era Field. There’s not really a hidden wine and cheese in Buffalo waiting for a football palace to built. There also aren’t Fortune 500 companies waiting to dish out the big bucks. A new stadium would definitely maximize profits, but it would need to a modest stadium, and I think the comish would still be let down.

Crazy Chiefs team building stat

Bingo. I think both of those things happened. I’m not sure if their success provides any type of “blueprint”. They were very fortunate in hitting a home run with Mahomes, and got lucky finding gems in Hill and Kelce. -
Pro Bowl Player Poll--Worst City to Travel To

Yeah, most guys like Buffalo once they play here. They live in a bubble that makes it tough to be educated on these matters. Nightlife might not be glitzy, but it works for most of our players. Opposing players don’t get to experience much of anything. -
Pro Bowl Player Poll--Worst City to Travel To

I agree, the media doesn’t accurately portray Buffalo weather. It’s obviously a far cry from tropical, but other than lake effect snow, it’s not much different from most midwestern cities. Also, keep in mind that lake effect is very localized (sometimes in OP). The way they address the cold has always driven me crazy. You’ll be watching a Bills game, and they’ll often refer to the “frigid” Buffalo weather. People are under the impression that Buffalo has Arctic temps. Our average temperatures aren’t much different from the cities of the Midwest. In fact, some of them are far colder. -

Buffalo isn’t as cookie cutter as many cities. It actually has history, and lacking charm is the last word I’d use. However, remember these guys drive from the airport to OP. It’s not exactly the most impressive or thrilling journey. Everything else they know about Buffalo comes solely from what the media has conditioned them to believe. Football players also aren’t generally known as high level intellectuals. Most twenty something athletes just want hip nightspots and sunshine.
