Remember the JA to Wentz comparisons?
SirAndrew replied to DCofNC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A big part of the Eagles issue is poor drafts, and Doug Pedersen not being a good coach. Reich carried that guy to a Lombardi Trophy. -
I couldn’t stand being teammates with someone who has the body language of Rodgers. Always rolling his eyes or shaking his head when teammates make a mistake. A guy like Allen gives his teammates words of encouragement instead of making faces.
-
Brady isn’t the player of old, but the offense relies on screens, runs up the middle, and deep throws. Arians seems out of touch with modern offense imo. They just ran a washed up Shady on third and two of all times.
-
I’ve seen Tampa with Brady play far too much this season, and I’m very confused with how Bruce Arians was seen as an offensive guru. That offense looks stale and predictable.

I’m probably in the minority here in that I always enjoyed Bon Jovi’s music, and even went to a few shows. That said, the music is separate from the guy. I’m certainly not losing any sleep from his comments, but why be so bitter about the whole thing ? He calls not getting the Bills, “ the biggest disappointment in his life”. I get that, but grow up and get over it. There are many down to earth awesome rock stars, then you have your Bon Jovi’s who seem to think they accomplished something more than writing some hit songs, and having memorable hair. He’s just hurt that he doesn’t get to tell his friends in the Hampton’s he owns a football team. He feels insecure.

I think our offense can clearly function without an elite TE, I’d just like to see fewer mental mistakes from Knox. You have a great take, and it’s actually really tough to find a good TE. Knox can be productive, he plays well when he makes catches, and blocks well when he finds himself in the right position. I’d just like to see him increase his ability to put himself in the right spot on a more consistent basis. He’s clearly a player who has a lot to learn. It wouldn’t be a big deal if we had depth at that position, but Kroft definitely isn’t the answer.

Lorax discusses Tremaine Edmunds
SirAndrew replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agree, what’s Lorax going to say ? If he calls out Edmunds for looking bad, everyone’s going to criticize Lorax for throwing a former teammate under the bus. -
Fair enough, I didn’t realize Knox’s numbers were that decent compared to other guys. I could make the argument that his mental lapses hurt the team enough to negate some of those numbers. A guy Iike Nick Boyle might not have had Knox’s numbers, but did he cost his team with drops, missed blockers, and mental errors as often ? I see Knox as a guy who’s more likely to cost his team a win, than to actually help his team win at this point. I realize that I’m probably too harsh on Knox, but his mistakes can be very costly, and not what you want on a “process” team. I also agree, that he’s taken a step back, and that’s concerning. I’m not saying he doesn’t belong on the team, he’s just not a guy I want as a starter at this point.
-
That’s my take as well. How long can you give a guy who continues to struggle with route running, blocking assignments, and catching the ball ? I can’t think of a precedence for a TE becoming elite after looking like Knox his first two seasons. Plenty of young players become great after struggling early, but Knox hasn’t even put the numbers you’d hope from a young TE. He’s just a guy with a couple highlight reel plays to his name at this point. I’d forgive the drops and mental errors if he had more productivity. My greatest concern is the fact that I see absolutely zero improve from last season to this year. The slightest of progress might be encouraging, but we haven’t seen that.
-
Knox has tons of potential, but at some point you need to become a reliable playmaker. I’m not buying the Shockey comparison, because Shockey was a Rookie of the Year, and All-Pro in his first season. He had drop issues as well, but made enough big plays to make up for it. Knox had the legendary Bengals run, and a nice catch against the Pats last season, and that’s his career. This season we only see him when he’s dropping passes. The good isn’t outweighing the bad, and that needs to at least even out by the end of this season. If he doesn’t show mass improvement by the end of this season, I’m not counting on him becoming a future star.

I still believe in Singletary, but I’m good with that idea in hopes of finding a spark. We just need a little more from our running game. The outcome of this season continues to ride on the arm of Josh Allen regardless. Allen plays like he did in the first four games we’ll win. When he doesn’t look elite and our defense plays like garbage, we’ll lose. An improved run game would be nice, and I’m in favor of giving other guys a chance, but ultimately our roster is set for this season. Allen and the defense will be the question mark heading into each game. That’s what decides our fate.

Pass protection is good, and they mostly are slinging it with occasional runs mixed in. The issue is the fact that the occasional run is lucky to gain three yards. When you’re running a spread offense with a QB picking apart the defense, there’s no excuse for that poor of a run game. You should be able to pick up four yards by default. That’s how bad run blocking has been. Most NFL teams no longer run to set up the pass. The run is sprinkled in as a secondary element. You still need to run on occasion just to keep the D honest. You just don’t want your run plays to be a wasted play. Currently our runs are wasted plays almost every time.

Apparently they have special corn in Iowa that he doesn’t have access to in Buffalo.

Singletary has some weak spots in his game, but I think you can win with him. He isn’t a guy who can break off big runs with his speed. Speed isn’t everything, it mostly allows guys to break away in those rare open field situations. The ability to make guys miss is just as important, and Singletary has plenty of that. I’m not sure why everyone is so down on Singletary this season. The results haven’t been there, but everyone was happy with him last season. He proved his game translates to the NFL, so I’m not sure what changed. I find it hard to believe that Singletary has suddenly become a bad player. Nothing about his speed has changed since last season. We all saw how amazing Fred Jackson was for us, while the speed guy in Spiller wasn’t as productive. Being a back isn’t all about speed. It might be nice to have a speed back on this offense, but that doesn’t mean we can’t win with Singletary. The offensive line is naturally the first variable that I look at. They haven’t run blocked at all this season, and that oline was one of my greatest concerns going into the season. Unfortunately, everyone immediately blames the back in these situations.

Le'Veon Bell signs with Kansas City
SirAndrew replied to Seasons1992's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree, he’s the type of player I expect to pursue the path that gets him the most attention. That’s why I see KC as the front runner. I’m not convinced that he cares about anything more than publicity. -
Is it time to admit Ryan Tannehill is pretty good?
SirAndrew replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with the people saying he’s a mid level QB. Those guys can be quite good these days. Factor in the reality that our defense can make anyone look good right now, and that’s about it. -

He might want to consider guys with speed and burst. Those type of runners fit in perfectly with this type of spread offense. Our guys look slow. -

Random time for a QB run call, I don’t like it much. -

Everyone has bad games, I get that. Josh does look bad tonight though. He’s entitled to a bad game, but the decision making looks like the old Josh who drove me crazy. This might be a one time deal, it happens to everyone. -

Crucial for the defense to step up here, this could be the game.
