Connery was a legend and icon. He had a presence that no one including Moore could ever live up to. I agree that modern Bond films are too dependent on action over plot. The sheer amount of CGI and frenetic camera work doesn’t do much for me. I also appreciated the Moore films much as you do. The addition of humor was great, and I actually thought the Moore films had the perfect mix of plot/dialog and action. Some of the Connery films were low on action. I think much of that had to do with film often resembling stage plays and books (as the Bond series was originally) in the 50’s and 60’s, to becoming more action packed in the 70’s.

That’s where I’m at. We don’t have much to lose by putting him out there. If this were a top ranked D, and you worried about ruining the chemistry I’d get it. I’m simply a proponent of guys needing reps to develop into NFL players. I don’t expect him to have limited reps this season, and magically look like a decent player next season.

Agree, you have to overpay for an average QB, that’s just the nature of the beast. It’s like how most people overpay for an average home in an average suburb. They do so to maintain a lifestyle in a decent neighborhood. QB play is similar. If you have an average QB, you must pay the price to maintain average because the other options could be far worse. This forces teams to overpay. If we want to question the system that’s fine, but it’s not reasonable to say it’s easy to replace an average QB. Herbert might pass for 5K yards, but those numbers are just part of the story. Veteran QB’s are invaluable and many highly sought rookie QB’s become busts. The idea of just letting a QB go because they cost too much isn’t an option imo. All of this is economically driven. QB’s are the most important part of the modern NFL, and prices of the most important necessities become inflated. That doesn’t mean it isn’t worth paying the QB. Dislike the price tag all you must, but you really have no option.

Week 7 MNF: Bears at Rams, 8:20 EDT
SirAndrew replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Probably a denture issue -
Yeah, was he talking trash to the Jets bench ? 😆 Plus two of the kicks would have been punts with Hauschka on the team.

It was probably our best defensive play of the year. I’ll take the 15 yard penalty at this point, if it shows our guys are playing aggressively with some effort. That was considered a good play for decades of football.

Gameday Thread Week 7 2nd Half Bills @ Jets

Luckily the Jets don’t have anyone who can make plays from the receiver position, or we’d be in big trouble today. -

This team looks checked out since the Titans game. It makes you wonder what’s going on behind the scenes, especially with the Spain release. -
Antonio Brown close to deal with Bucs
SirAndrew replied to Dablitzkrieg's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good take, I’ve noticed what appears to be some frustration Brady’s had with Evans as well. The Bucs have great receivers, but Brady is all about precise route running. The Bucs offense has actually been a bit sloppy, and the receivers attention to details hasn’t been great. Brady was starting to build a strong connection with Miller, the slot guy before he got hurt. Brown has the ability to be a guy who can play all over the field, and give Brady something out of the slot position as well. -
The trade conversation is clearly unrealistic, but the hot takes about every diva WR around here is hilarious. There aren’t many people who wouldn’t welcome a great wideout on their team. Almost every elite WR in the league has been called a diva at some point. I suppose fans would prefer a bunch of mediocre nice guy receivers ?

What constitutes an ineligible man downfield penalty?
SirAndrew replied to Coach55's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This ^ Mahomes and the Chiefs offense generates excitement. The NFL doesn’t want to do anything that would hinder how they function. The league took the same approach to the Pats with all their illegal pick plays. That Pats offense wouldn’t have functioned without all those illegal pick plays either. It’s a conscious effort by the NFL to mold the game into what they believe sells best imo. I’m not saying we lost that game because of the refs, or the Chiefs aren’t a great team. I’m simply making the point that rules become flexible when leagues want to go in a certain direction. -

A lesser QB does. Mahomes is the face of the NFL, he gets Brady rules from now on. Yep, and more leeway is given to the best teams/QB’s. -
I’m happy Josh got the playing time in his rookie year. A raw prospect like Allen needs the experience. I’m not a believer in the idea that you ruin a QB by throwing him out there too soon. Experience is always a good thing imo. Fitz or McCown would have just kept him on the bench longer. I‘m very relieved we didn’t have to watch McCown in 2018. Allen’s rookie ups and down were more interesting than anything you’d see from a guy like McCown.

Tackling is important and clearly needs to improve. However, how many of our guys even got a hand on the ball carrier around the line of scrimmage ? We need to improve almost everything on defense.

Justin Zimmer signed to active roster
SirAndrew replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree, and we saw that with our secondary early in his tenure. We never did great shutting down the run since McD and Frazier got here, but the pass D was solid. In a pass happy league, we were able to neutralize opponent’s with that pass defense. The 2017 season was a masterclass in solid secondary play for the most part. Frazier doesn’t have the roster to make up for lack of scheme in other areas. One pass rusher could make all the difference in the world, but we just don’t have that. -

Frazier’s always been quite basic and conservative imo. He made his defense work in Minnesota with good pass rushers and solid Dline play. I think Frazier’s bend don’t break defense needs guys capable of making plays to function properly. We have no playmakers, and this defense isn’t going to function well without them. -
The Official Bring Fitzpatrick Home Thread
SirAndrew replied to BillsFan692's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I’m sure Fitz is a great guy, hard worker, and great teammate, but I’ve never understood the near legend status among Bills fans either. I think it’s a case of fans seeing the closest they can find to a reflection of themselves with his demeanor and dad like sense of humor. He was cool enough for people to love the “swag”, but not the hip type of cool that rubs people the wrong way. He’s totally the cool suburban dad guy, football fans love that type of thing. -

If that quote was from any QB but Fitz, this board would be calling the guy a selfish player who’s not a good teammate. I’m not picking on Fitz, I just imagine if that were Mayfield or Newton’s quote. I’ve read about this, and it seems like Fitz is genuinely hurt, which is understandable. It’s just funny to see the media call honestly “refreshing” and things like that. -
Imagine TBD Circa 1992 After These Two Games
SirAndrew replied to Like A Mofo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thanks for the reasonable take. I’ve been a huge fan of what Beane and McD have done here, but this team isn’t a proven entity. We don’t know who McD really is as a coach, we don’t know what Josh Allen is, and we have yet to see a real contender. Fans know we have a playoff team, but most reasonable people are now looking to see if this team can make the next step. Getting blown out the past few years in every big test doesn’t make some of us feel confident. -
For everyone freaking out about the D last night
SirAndrew replied to Captain Caveman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The only reason we held them to a relatively low point total was our attempt at ball control offense (we had one long drive), and the fact Andy Reid decided to run the ball all night. We never really stopped them, and I think they could have thrown the ball all over the yard if they wanted. -
"Andy Dalton will be just as good as Dak on the Cowboys!"

The Cowboys have a lot of problems, many of them started when Jerry fell in love with Mike McCarthy. -
He already got pantsed by Vrabel and Reid.

Week 6 Postgame Thread KC at Bills
SirAndrew replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sound advice to Bills fans. I’m just slightly disappointed that Daboll came out with one of his trademark irrational game plans, the D is still terrible, and Allen looked bad. If our D looked good or Mahomes beat Allen in a shootout, I’d feel much better. There were a few troubling signs that point to us being more of a pretender than a contender. After week four I saw this team as possible contenders. -
Trouble in Paradise! Diggs sulking on the final drive
SirAndrew replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is what you get from good WR’s, they’re all a bit off. I’m thinking it’s worth dealing with occasional drama to have an elite WR.
