  1. This is exactly the reason coming out is huge for an NFL player. We live in a society that traditionally expects lies for the sake of making others comfortable, when the person forced to live the lie is doing nothing to hurt others. Our sense of “morality” has never been about living the prescribed way, rather just telling people you live the prescribed life for sake of show. We all benefit from a world with more honesty, and respect for staying true to oneself. Nassib being real about who he is does nothing to change the lives of his teammates.
  2. Ranking Kyler Murray above Brady proves your point very clearly. Simms understands what hot takes will fill up internet news articles with his name attached.
  3. I get that, but I immediately think of the point differential impact. Apart from losing Allen, the loss of Diggs would result in the most points lost imo. Allen matured a great deal, but his leap from 2019 to 2020 was incredible, and Diggs was a huge part. I can’t see losing anyone on defense causing us to give up more points than the amount of points we lose by taking Diggs off the field. I love Tre, but in an offense oriented league I have to go with Diggs.
  4. There’s Jays fans in Toronto ? That place is a morgue unless the Jays are playing the Yankees, or Toronto’s bandwagon fans come out for the playoffs.
  5. I really don’t understand how Diggs wouldn’t be number two on everyone’s list.
  6. It’s not necessary at all. European soccer clubs who don’t play in the wealthiest markets use the same stadiums for decades. It’s all about the NFL wanting increased revenue that comes with a new stadium. The Pegula’s don’t seem to have a choice. I realize the NFL isn’t too concerned with the average fan, but I question what an open air stadium in OP has to offer that differs from the current venue ? I’m sure there will be plenty of upgrades, but how does this affect the guy sitting in the typical stadium seat ? The only difference I see is increased ticket prices. A dome could be marketed as a guaranteed comfortable game day experience, a downtown venue can be marketed as increased tax revenue and boost to local business. I don’t see enough to be enthusiastic about an open air venue in OP.
  7. That’s fair, I’ve just felt like OP was bad enough to ease my worries about a downtown stadium. Location and surrounding infrastructure would have determined the severity of traffic downtown. Obviously there was never a location selected, and there never will be. I’m not convinced downtown had to be a traffic catastrophe, if the team, state, and county could have gotten their act together. That’s honestly the biggest hurdle a downtown stadium faced. Cleveland has a downtown location that doesn’t suffer from worse traffic than OP.
  8. You’re correct, Sabres games to Bills games is an apples to oranges comparison. Don’t get me wrong, a downtown stadium would probably be a traffic nightmare in Buffalo. I just don’t know how much worse. OP is not one of the better traffic situations in the league. There’s lots of NFL stadiums that have much better traffic flow. Difficulty in leaving the stadium is sometimes cited on reviews of Highmark that compare NFL stadiums. I can’t say how much of a mess downtown would be, but I think WNY folks are fooling themselves assuming OP has good game day traffic flow.
  9. I hate the overhang idea. I enjoy the full power of the sun on those rare sunny WNY days, why sit in the dim shade ? It would be really nice to have on rainy days, but I don’t mind the snow, and rainy days are somewhat rare. The overhang makes perfect sense in Miami. In fact a large overhang would make our cold yet sunny days even cooler.
  10. Fair enough, thanks for the correction. I didn’t remember that, but it would still seem bush league to let the lease expire. They even mention the possibility of several seasons away, that would be strange imo. I’d probably have a different prospective if the options weren’t Toronto and Pennsyltucky. Something in NY like UB, or Syracuse wouldn’t seem as strange. I realize those venues might not be suited for the NFL, but playing in Toronto or State College is certainly not desirable.
  11. I’ve always found it comical how many WNY people think anything beyond a 10 minute drive is insane.
  12. I’m not sure why people think OP has some stellar infrastructure. It’s a bunch of two lane roads that lead to expressways. Most NFL stadiums are located next to multiple expressway paths. I’ve never had as much of an issue leaving a Sabres game, as I do Bills games or Darien Lake concerts out in the cow pasture.
  13. Personally, I enjoy reading the bickering more than the prospect of an open air stadium, with the possibility of time in Toronto or Happy Valley 😂
  14. That last line might be the one thing we can all agree on.
  15. Getting your children into public schools has worked that way for decades. It’s weird how almost everyone is completely cool with that.
  16. Your final sentence is my entire issue with Bease, and much of what I hear in society as a whole. Make your personal choice, that’s fine, but why must people go on and on about how they refuse to follow whatever guidelines are established as a result ? We’ve become a society that believes in only following rules they deem suitable, and this is an issue that transcends politics.
  17. I see this topic has finally gone off the rails. All the amateur experts are back out in full force.
  18. Playing games away from Buffalo would make the franchise seem very bush league imo. It’s just not something NFL teams do while building a new stadium.
  19. Agree, but as many have mentioned, the issue is with team leaders previously saying this topic stays in house. This is different than the typical political stuff imo. It’s a divisive issue in many workplaces. Distractions are the last thing you want for your football team. Reasonable people can disagree about politics, while maintaining a friendship, although we’re told that’s impossible these days. This issue is about procedures that affect the daily routine of players. If you have too many guys dissatisfied about it, you have a negative work climate. I’m confident it will all work out just fine. The culture of this team has proven to win out every time. I just didn’t think it was the proper forum for Bease to rant, and there’s nothing political about that.
  20. Fair enough, it just seems that addressing the issue behind closed doors would have been preferable. It’s not the fact that he voiced his disagreement with the union. I took issue when he went off on a social media tantrum. He has every right to file his grievances with his union, and voice his dissatisfaction. There’s just no need to voice uninformed personal beliefs while bickering with fans, after team leaders stated this topic won’t be discussed in public. Cole has every right to advocate for himself, but he also needs to remember that a union represents 100% of the players. When workers are divided 50/50 on an issue, comprises and concessions are going to be made. The union doesn’t represent the unvaccinated at a greater level than the vaccinated, so they are in a tough spot. He’s free to voice his opinion, but should also be aware that nothing is going to fully satisfy both sides. The NFLPA has many interests they need to protect. Cole works under a system with boundaries. He can go through the proper channels in an attempt to change things, but ultimately needs to be comfortable with his own decision and their consequences. Ranting about the flu on Twitter doesn’t seem like a man who’s willing to accept choices and consequences.
  21. Forget about the subject matter, I don’t even want to discuss that part. My issue is the fact that Beasley feels such a need to be heard. It’s simply a case of self above team. If he has an issue with NFLPA, he should be free to address that in the proper forum. Instead he’s using his platform to share personal thoughts that stray from being solely a team related issue. There’s no need to convince the public of anything, he’s free to believe whatever he chooses, but take up the issue with the proper people. That’s a much better option than engaging in such non-process style attention seeking.
  22. Yep, the wins have to come at some point. People get lost in statistics, often forgetting how insane QB stats have been inflated in recent years. Rookie QB’s putting up impressive numbers has become the norm. You still get your busts like Rosen, but people are being fooled by numbers these days.
  23. This^ I don’t think it’s fair to say Mac Jones won’t amount to anything, but doesn’t it seem like he’s been treated if he were a first round pick ?
  24. No surprise imo, but it’s funny how many media folks anointed Mac Jones as a great selection. Jones is just another mid round QB, but he’s getting all these props because BB is supposed to make him the next Brady.
