  1. That’s spot on, if we’re showing compassion, we should be showing that someone with mental health issues has a job waiting for them after they seek treatment. Instead this showcases someone getting fired for being “mentally ill”.
  2. I hear you, I just don’t think people fully realize how unique the life of a pro athlete is. At what point in their lives do these guys learn socially appropriate behavior? Most NFL players are upstanding citizens, but it’s no surprise that some would have issues. Imagine being given millions in your twenties, while always having a job after constant legal troubles and personal drama. These dudes live in a parallel universe. That’s not even taking their college days into consideration, where everyone looks the other way on most transgressions. You have guys who often grew up in tough situations, being given the world. Their entire lives are mostly free of normal consequences the day they prove they can play ball. Think of the anti social behaviors classic rockers exhibited over the years. They also lived in a world free of consequence, where anything goes. I think it really stunts some people’s ability to function like an adult. I’m not saying that’s AB’s issue, I’m just saying that it could play a role, and it’s amazing how many players keep it together so well.
  3. Weird how anyone who exhibits negative behavior is labeled mentally ill these days. Maybe he is, maybe he isn’t. I wish him the best regardless.
  4. Agree, Brady and Arians seemed to think they were Antonio Brown whisperers. It seemed like an arrogant move, but did help them win a title. I didn’t see Brady or Arians in that moment able to calm Brown, he just had his meltdown, and life goes on. Goes to show Brady and Arians weren’t as special as they thought when it comes to Brown’s issues.
  5. I think Georgia is a very good football team. I just don’t think they’re that close to Alabama. It’s been proven year after year, and they took a beating in the SEC title game. I’m not saying Georgia can’t win the title, although Alabama is the better team, upsets do happen. Alabama with Saban is in a class of their own. They’re only slowed by occasional outliers like Clemson who are able to match them certain years. This seems to be another season where no one can match Bama. Regarding the Big Ten, I think the Big Ten was mediocre. Ohio State was one of the few teams with anything that resembled a real offense, and that conference doesn’t have enough speed. I can’t help but to see the college game as Bama, and everyone else though. It goes beyond which conference is the best, it’s simply Bama being better than everyone, including the SEC. Bama has done more for the image of its conference than any team in history.
  6. I laughed at this one, but we’ll see. It looks like Kingsbury is losing his luster a bit. Maybe the era of romantic comedy star looking, skinny jeaned head coaches will wind down soon.
  7. This is why I really want to see the playoff field expanded. It would provide opportunity for better matchups. Giving OSU or Baylor a chance is far more appealing than a Bama/Georgia rematch. I’ll be rooting big for Michigan. I’m fine with Georgia being in the field, but I’d love to see more teams to mix things up a bit.
  8. Yeah, they definitely didn’t face the toughest competition every week, but if being embarrassed by Bama is the metric, Georgia are poseurs as well. Ironically, Georgia could be facing Bama for the title.
  9. Probably a bad look, but the kind of thing no one will remember if they win. These things are only remembered when your team losses.
  10. Yes, because Bama will probably do the same thing to Georgia or Michigan next game. Notre Dame would probably be down 35-0 by this point, considering their playoff history. Bama is just ridiculously better than everyone in college football. The other SEC has been average in Bowl games, so I don’t think group of 5 teams should be punished, regardless of outcome here. Bama just makes everyone look awful. Unfortunately, some will use it to fuel an anti mid major bias.
  11. Nice drive by Cincy, but that TE screen on third down is an awful call against Bama. They’re not going to steal this game by playing cautiously.
  12. No, the on field product with this type of leagues is just too weak for me. I know some people love it, because it gives an off season football fix, but I just can’t follow. D1 football always seems better quality than pro football leagues. The original USFL might be the only exception.
  13. I see a lot of people are disappointed by the mediocrity of the players on this list. There’s actually a lot of incredible players on the ballot. It’s just really difficult to separate them from one another. I think the emphasis on the QB position in the modern game has a lot to do with it. We probably aren’t going to see guys like LT, or the 85 Bears defense. Those teams and players were legendary because they often carried their team to victory. In the modern pass happy NFL all credit goes to the QB, and it doesn’t seem like guys playing other positions carry their teams as often. I think of guys like Dwight Freeney, an incredible player, but the Colts success became solely a Manning thing in the memory of fans. Think of all the HOF’ers Brady has played with. The QB is such a big deal, it over shadows everyone else, giving us the illusion the ballot is filled with mediocre players.
  14. Most of this information comes from the census. Your 63% doesn’t mean that 37% of the Firebaugh population is non Hispanic. Those of Hispanic heritage are often also counted as white on the census. The town could still be over 90% Hispanic, even with your number.
  15. Like Trevor Lawrence 😂 Yeah, I know, the Jags are awful, and Meyer was a joke. I’m just making the point that I’m not certain sure things exist, but NFL teams keep fooling themselves into believing so. Allen had all the physical tools, but I didn’t believe either. It’s hard to overcome the small school bias. There’s no telling how good someone is when they don’t face high end competition. It is unfair to guys like Allen though.
  16. Yeah, Tua consistently leading the Fish to 9-8 seasons is the best case scenario for us. Mediocrity would allow Tua to stick around, while the Fish continue to be a minimal threat. Now that we have our QB, it’s fun to think of other teams that way.
  17. You also have to assume that a small receiver might start breaking down very quickly at 33 years old. I’ve loved what Beasley has done with us, but he’s not a guy I envision playing into his late 30’s. Paying him could be a mistake based solely on that.
  18. I don’t disagree with the Wilson to Giants possibility, but I don’t think it’d be the best spot for him. I wouldn’t want anything to do with that dumpster fire franchise, at least not until Judge is gone as coach. Playing in NY suddenly becomes a much lesser stage when the Giants are losing.
  19. We learned he’s definitely not elite.
  20. Josh is playing David Carr’s o line and doing incredible things. Take it all in while we have the luxury.
  21. Once again Josh is carrying us with an all world performance. It’s still very concerning that our offensive line gets pushed off the ball on consecutive fourth and ones.
  22. Guess we just need third and long red zone situations to cash in. That was perfection.
  23. I don’t like going for it when our offense stinks in those short yardage spots. Take the points.
  24. Yeah, I’ll still question how much talent we have on the line. I don’t think it’s much, but I also question coaching because it feels like they’ve all regressed. I see regression and guys failing to develop into quality starters after we draft them. That’s typically indicative of coaching.
