  1. Also most of the league grew up playing football in warm climes.
  2. I forgot about the helmet. I loved the articles that said his helmet “approximated” the Raiders colors. This dude wasn’t even willing to pay the price for someone who could do the job right.
  3. I’ve only heard about the greatness of Jones. Pats have a good D, but not at all impressed by Mactain Checkdown.
  4. Ice has been melting ever since that Super Bowl loss to the Pats. He’s been toast for years.
  5. The coaches of the drought era all seem the same to me. I’ve never understood the fan dislike of Jauron. He wasn’t the most exciting guy, but the results were the same with the others. I was never more or less entertained with different coaches during the drought era, losing stinks, and it’s rarely entertaining to me. I just love having a good team building new memories right now. I think too many drought era figures are unfairly vilified, while other mediocre talents from that era are given sainthood by fans.
  6. Yeah, but it’s going a bit far when they said, “he’s trying to take over the game”.
  7. Rams down 24-7 and the announcers are drooling over Ramsey.
  8. Apparently Odell is an elite decoy according to Riddick.
  9. He’s good, but there’s no elite/great QB anywhere to be found. McVay is capable of bringing out the best though, he made Goff look decent at times.
  10. That’s the old Lions QB who was given a million excuses due to playing in Detroit.
  11. It’s weird how Carr randomly breaks out with the occasional huge game, but looks like Trent Edwards every other game.
  12. I assume Gruden had a major influence on their drafts as well. The Raiders roster seems filled with the type of guys Gruden would fall in love with.
  13. Michaels, “tumultuous season for the Raiders”. He mentions Gruden, but not Ruggs. You have to love NFL censorship. Don’t even bring up the topic if you have to hide elements of the ugly truth.
  14. He’s from the southern tier, not western NY imo, so his opinion on wings doesn’t count the same.
  15. Good things happen when you get the ball to your play makers, even if it means just throwing it up when the o line fails on blitz pickup. Diggs needs the ball, that’s where we fail sometimes.
  16. Hoping he gets well soon if he has symptoms, but I think we’ll be fine as a team. Interior D linemen aren’t my biggest worry over the next two weeks. Hope Star recovers easily, that’s the biggest issue at play imo.
  17. OSU is a very solid team, and certainly a title contender. I wouldn’t be down on Bama though. Those guys are road tested when the playoffs come around. OSU is head and shoulders better than the rest of the overrated Big Ten. OSU has the talent to win a title, but it’s hard to assess where they’re at this season, because I don’t believe in the Big Ten competition. If Bama wins the SEC title, it’d be tough for me to bet against them in the playoffs.
  18. I agree, I think it’s not just a matter of running more, but picking better moments to do so. The Jags loss was definitely ugly, but I’m also hesitant to take the ball out of Josh’s hands too often. We need to be careful about the balance of more run calls if we go that direction. Singletary and Moss plays seem like wasted downs at this point. You can’t throw the ball every down, but I worry that mixing in more runs won’t free much up. Defensive coordinators probably don’t have much fear of Moss or Singletary. I’d be comfortable selling out to stop Josh as a D coordinator, even if we did run the ball more. I’d have confidence that a four man front with everyone else in coverage is enough to stop the Bills run game. I still agree with your point, but we’re in a tough spot with subpar backs and an o line who can’t block.
  19. I’ve given up on being able to run the ball with our current roster. I understand it’s universally accepted you need a run game to win titles, but we simply don’t. The best we can do is play to the strengths of our passing game, and see how far it takes us. It might prove costly, but emphasizing the run game isn’t getting us anywhere. We need to restructure the entire offensive game plan. It’s time to pick better moments to run the ball, incorporate quick passes, and get the ball to Bease and Diggs. We’ve fallen in love with chucking the ball downfield to Sanders. I have no issue with running, but Josh under center on first down gives away a run call. We must mix in the run game more effectively. What’s not going to happen is us becoming ground and pound. There’s quotes from pundits talking about how crucial it is to run the ball with bad weather on the way. It’s not going to work that for us, we just need better efficiency. Our coaching staff needs to have a better feel for the trajectory of the game. They made no adjustments to help Josh when it was clear the o line was having a meltdown. We have an incredibly well coached and well prepared team, but Daboll in particularly seems stubborn about making in game adjustments.
  20. Lots of people not giving the NFL credit for the wealth and clout they possess. I’m sure there’s plenty of stuff that could make the league look bad, but don’t count on it coming out. The NFL has a top notch legal team. Gruden would have never been thrown under the bus if this was going to come back to bite them. There’s a good chance they’ll reach a settlement, but even without a settlement, I don’t see anyone requiring the league to release every email.
  21. I’d be shocked if Gruden gets very far. The NFL never loses.
  22. Yeah, bad losses happen, but contenders string victories together. Losing a bad game isn’t the end of the world, but at some point you need a winning streak to be a legitimate contender. No one in the AFC has gone on a decent winning streak, but we’re getting to the point of the season where someone is going to separate from the pack. The excuses are over if we want to be that team.
  23. Watkins played an awful game, I don’t have any excuses for him, but that setup is crazy. The league is all about player safety, yet they extend seating that close to the end zone. There’s absolutely no need for that trashy looking seating add on. You can clearly see where the original seating is located, but they just had to sell high end tickets under the premise of giving fans field level views.
  24. You could be right, but I struggle with adding OBJ to the Rams. OBJ might have to accept playing a specific role, and I’m not convinced he’s willing to do so. You’re correct in saying that he could benefit from “less pressure to be the man”. However, I believe OBJ wants and needs to be the man. Anything less than being the go to guy is going to make OBJ shut down. It could work great, if he’s willing accept whatever role the Rams give him, but I don’t think he’s mature enough.
