  1. I think it says a lot about Mike Tomlin. I understand Brown had transgressions in Pittsburgh, but the fact he lasted that long is a testament to a strong franchise, although it pains me to admit this. He was always a mess off the field, and you could criticize Pittsburgh for giving him a platform, but it’s still impressive he performed well on the field for that long.
  2. The 4th down thing makes total sense in the right situation at every level. The onside kick has terrible odds at most levels. Onside kicks would only work at the high school level if you have a team that dominates its opponents in every phase.
  3. I’m going to say that history has proven karma doesn’t effect the Pats.
  4. I’m realistic enough to know it doesn’t effect the team, but it’s just bad karma. Every time this board had a week of calling other teams and players garbage, it seems like we’ve lost. I’m going to keep quiet until Monday.
  5. Agree, I don’t think this franchise seemed very high on Fromm, and maybe he felt the same way.
  6. Not saying wind isn’t possible, but accuweather always seems to overestimate wind speeds from my experience with it.
  7. It honestly amazes me so many believed in him as an NFL QB. Considering his on field antics, and off field antics, there’s enough that always worried me about him as a franchise QB. The dude doesn’t have a strong enough arm to overcome his other shortcomings.
  8. That’s definitely true, and I know you have a lot of knowledge on the college game. USC returning to prominence is just the type of thing I’ll believe when I see. Riley has a big job ahead of him to restore the luster of USC. That’s what it’s going to take to land recruits imo. I don’t care who the coach is, there’s no way BYU with a huge recruiting disadvantage should be outperforming USC. It all makes me wonder if there’s deeper issues than what meets the eye.
  9. That’s true, Riley was basically afraid of the SEC, but I think Oklahoma has all the tools to succeed in that conference. The PAC 12 is weak, but USC hasn’t gotten it right in over a decade. I know great programs go through rough patches, but I think some people assume recruiting to USC should be easy. I’m no longer convinced they have a huge recruiting advantage, as the landscape of football has changed, and the LA sales pitch doesn’t hold the same allure.
  10. Is USC a better job than Oklahoma at this point? This is one area of college football coach moves I don’t always understand.
  11. Can’t believe Auburn didn’t go for two in OT. You’re 6-5 and two yards from beating Bama, ridiculous. Football coaches can be so dumb.
  12. Watch Michigan lose the B10 championship game. That would be the most Harbaugh/Michigan thing ever.
  13. I didn’t realize we have more wind than Chicago. “Buffalo is warmer than Chicago” seems to be a common defense mechanism in WNY, throws that one away, considering our average January highs are about identical to Chicago.
  14. For all the criticism Josh gets at times, it’s awesome knowing we have a QB who steps up when his team is in the spotlight. I remember prime time and big game Josh being a concern to some.
  15. Agree, I’m over the rain more than anything. There’s just too many negative weather possibilities at the current site. It’s either rain, snow, cold, or wind. I don’t need perfect weather, but too often it’s just terrible. I don’t have seasons, but seem to end up going to many October and November games for some reason. I think it rained the last seven or eight times I’ve gone.
  16. The design of the current stadium also amplifies the wind. They basically built a wind tunnel.
  17. Weather is all subjective, but I don’t think WNY people realize how unusual around 100 inches per year is in the world. We think of Niagara Falls 50 inches or so as being nothing, but that’s still significant compared to other metro areas around the globe.
  18. I fully agree, good post. I saw the same thing with that big fall storm a few years ago when I had family in the city. The Weather Channel spent days talking about how Buffalo was a no go for travel, and I easily drove right downtown, with just a little snow. That’s the exact issue at hand though, the stadium is in OP.
  19. I just need to play devil’s advocate a bit. The term Buffalo is a vague one that most of the country doesn’t understand. Lake effect snow and weather patterns are crazy. What’s happening in Amherst is typically different from what’s happening in the Southtowns. Different areas of the city see different weather patterns as well. The stadium is in Orchard Park, and I’m willing to bet that Orchard Park weather is closer to Watertown than other areas of WNY are.
  20. Allen was brilliant on that drive, I’ve criticized him at times, but the O line was still melting down, and he really delivered. I’m not sure how many guys can do that.
  21. The pressure up the middle with this O line might even be worse than the free edge rushers.
  22. Can’t imagine spending Thanksgiving evening as a Saints fan watching Siemian play.
