  1. Absolutely, I don’t think pressures and hurries have the significance they once did. Today’s athletic QB’s work much better under duress than their predecessors. QB’s like Mahomes are sometimes more dangerous once you chase them out of the pocket. You need sacks to get the D off the field.
  2. Tua will be a backup QB soon, and Miami is insanely overrated. You need a star QB to win these days. I’m extremely confident we win the AFC East. If we actually manage to lose the title to Miami with Allen under center, changes will need to be made next offseason. There’s no reason we shouldn’t win this division. Obviously if we lose the division yet manage to win the Super Bowl, it’s all good, but I think we need home field to make a legitimate run.
  3. Coaching also has to be part of this comparison. I’ll admit that I’ve expressed frustration with McD on gameday threads over in game decisions. I’m also aware that McDermott is a very good head coach who continues to gain valuable experience every year. This coaching staff is top notch, and more often than not we’re very well prepared. Who knows if Brandon Staley can even succeed as a head coach. We have a huge advantage in coaching over the Chargers. That’s why I think the Chiefs remain the biggest hurdle, because Andy Reid is one of the few AFC coaches who can match us in that area.
  4. This character stuff coming out about Mayfield after his time in Cleveland is strange. How didn’t NFL teams, or at least the Browns see these red flags? He was an immensely successful college QB, but I also never seen a QB act so immature on the field. If that’s how a guy is when the cameras are on, it’s hard to believe it’s not worse when they’re off. I distinctly remember Mayfield’s college career more for his lewd gestures and antics than on field play. I was rooting for the guy in Cleveland, because he was fun to watch, but it’s hard to believe no one was aware of the risk.
  5. He was also a big part of the 2020 AFCCG loss in KC. Maybe he’s just bitter because he didn’t get a chance at revenge during the 2021 playoffs.
  6. Yeah, I have high hopes for 2002, just as everyone else. However, the 2020 Bills were better than the 2021 Bills. I think the Pats Wild Card win helped raise expectations to a Super Bowl or bust mentality, when in actuality we were better the previous season. Here’s to 2022 being the season we put it all together.
  7. Amazing display of the deep connection between this team and city. It shows a franchise that has its priorities in order. It shows the power of sports, as this was the first uplifting moment I really saw following this tragedy. There’s nothing that needs to be said other than giving this team credit, and keeping the community in our thoughts.
  8. No, but there’s a huge difference between “nothing to do” and preferring to live elsewhere.
  9. Great points, but you articulate the very thing that bothers me about the league. They’re waiting for the smoke to clear to come down with a short suspension. It’s a charade punishment, or it would have happened long ago. The league doesn’t require legal guilt to suspend a player, so it should have happened in Houston imo. I really wish they had the courage to not suspend him at all, as that’s what they want, but are worried about a negative response. Watson’s future suspension relies upon people who can’t see through the charade. There’s no sincerity in any of this, but I shouldn’t expect much better.
  10. That’s kind of my point. Is there a reason for that? Football season begins relatively soon. The league had plenty of time to speak with him to come up with potential discipline in a timely manner. The issue has been hanging over the league for a while. Either discipline the dude or not. I’m at the point where it seems like the league shouldn’t even bother. The dude should have been suspended a long time ago if that’s the end goal anyway.
  11. Exactly, the NFL not having their “punishment” figured out at this point is an embarrassment.
  12. Phins are going to become media darlings like the Browns before they imploded. I expect the same in Miami with Tua. I didn’t read your post before I said the same. I fully agree. The Phins have a good roster, but the NFL is about QB’s. Compare Tua with other AFC QB’s, and that tells you where Miami will be in the standings.
  13. I couldn’t agree more. Good teams compile victories against lesser opponents. Games against quality opponents are usually a toss up. We have a lot of quality opponents early in the season, so any early struggle won’t be indicative of our final outcome in 2022. Winning home field advantage is going to be the most important goal of the regular season. I don’t care what our final record looks like, as long as it’s good enough to take home field. Losing tough games is acceptable, we just can’t afford losses to inferior opponents.
  14. The fact that Mike Pereira is the USFL head of officiating doesn’t give me much hope.
  15. Fair, I guess I was referencing that I wouldn’t be concerned if I were a Titans fan. I don’t think that loss is going to be catastrophic for Tannehill. I expect to see the same player. If people view his comments as a sign of mental weakness, it’s the same Tannehill who’s been in the league for a decade. I’d be more concerned if this were an elite QB who said these things. I think this is a preexisting part of Tannehill’s personality’s. He’s probably always been an emotional player. Obviously just my two cents, I don’t know the guy.
  16. I wouldn’t be too concerned. The Titans are going to get the same Tannehill as normal, which isn’t much to begin with.
  17. I’d be shocked if Jerry steps down. I think he’d have to be physically unable to do the job. I can’t see him retiring simply because he’s slowing down. People like Jones love fame and fortune, and want to be on that ride as long as possible. Retiring is a different beast for these people than your typical person. Good post, it gives good insight into the Cowboys organization. I think this convinces me more that Jerry isn’t stepping down anytime soon. Dallas can continue delegating responsibilities to others, while Jones remains the face of the franchise. I don’t see any need for a formal “retirement” in that case.
  18. Apparently I got lost in the last couple pages of Poyer and Edmunds talk. With that said, Edmunds certainly isn’t going anywhere imo 😆 I think the team values him far more than fans. I don’t know why, but I have a feeling that McD sees continuity as being important with linebackers, possibly more than other positions on defense.
  19. I think it depends how confident Beane and McDermott are in their system. We all know he’s a crucial part of this defense, but I’m not sure how much they’re willing or able to give him. I don’t see Poyer going anywhere, but I wouldn’t eliminate the possibility if negotiations turn ugly.
  20. Yeah, but I wouldn’t be shocked by a Poyer trade. Poyer is very important to this team, but if negotiations go south, Beane seems like the type of GM who’d be wise enough to get something of value for Poyer.
  21. I love our team, but I can’t find any reason to be annoyed with these comments. This board would worship our guys if they went on a respect rant. I’m cool with whatever motivates someone to succeed. The Bengals success isn’t going to be determined by these comments.
  22. Cook is someone who’d be a bad second round pick for most teams. Beane even said, “he can handle some carries too”. He’s obviously not a typical running back, or what a lot of teams need out of a second round RB pick. However, the added wrinkle he gives this particular offense could be huge. Cook has the potential to be a good second round value for this team.
  23. I have a feeling he’s probably posting from a pizza shop in Cheektowaga.
  24. You beat me to it. I love a good laugh, but comedic insults not based in reality are rarely funny. Spags is funny, but that one missed the mark.
  25. Great point, I’m really looking forward to seeing the stupid expression on Vrabel’s face when he realizes his team is awful. I have an irrational dislike of the Titans, and can’t wait for them to leave the mix of AFC pretenders.
