Week 10: Bills at Browns
Buffalo Junction replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Y’all know it’s actually legal to mail a crow right? Dead or alive.... You can mail one to these places as a “stick it to `em” if you’re that livid about these predictions. You can also have a pie delivered from a bakery with “humble” spelled in the crust.... Be creative.... Maybe blow up their Twitter with links to Humble Pie songs and #billsmafia if we stop the browns???? Have fun with this. The bills are 6-2! Enjoy the ride. -
IMO, Star is better than a simple “stop gap”. Beane has shown that he’s not handing out long term contracts to stop gap players. Star’s role was/is vital to the defense functioning properly. He fit a need, knew the defense, etc. He may be overpaid for that role, but I don’t care how they spend Peg’s money as long as they have the cap space to resign critical players. I think a lot of folks aren’t being honest with how long it can take to develop defensive tackles, especially NTs that don’t have blue chip physical traits... It’s strength and technique which take time to build. They will put guys in the pipeline and Star likely won’t be retained for the same salary once his contract is up. If they end up finding a gem like Pat Williams he might be released. Not having a replacement for Horrible Harry is a much bigger problem than Star’s ability.

It’s almost unavoidable when the player rotating with Star is on IR. We currently have a 350 pound man playing more than he should which is going to lead to mistakes. Let’s also keep in mind that Edmunds is making the calls. In most systems the MLB is responsible for adjusting gap assignments on the fly.

The issue is that fans expect Star to perform in a manner similar to other NTs in that salary range; many of whom make more splash plays. Unfortunately, that comes with neglecting several details... most notably when Star was signed he was one of the best NTs on the market, and they needed a plug and play NT. Beane & Co can definitely upgrade the position, but it will likely be a phase out as they develop younger players to take over the role.

Week 10: Bills at Browns

It would be a great talking point all week if Allen goes off for 350 total yards and 3 TDs with some big plays to Brown while Mayfield implodes. I have no clue how this game is going to go, but capitalizing on an early Browns turnover could make this a fun game to watch -
The problem with our run defense is simple…

The religious aspect isn’t necessarily a critical component. The point is that most often great leaders display faith in something bigger than an individual. They lead with strength, resolve, compassion, respect, accountability, and empathy. A humanist can certainly display these traits through an atheist worldview. They inspire a feeling of brotherhood and a universal faith in those around them.... a belief that “we will succeed”. Belichick has inspired that belief through success. There isn’t a player in the NFL that believes BB would put the pats in a losing situation for personal gain. Faith exists in many ways... It’s the hope and belief in ones self, and those around ones self, that can lead to success when things are going poorly: it can inspire perseverance. -
The last time Sean McDermott played OBJ
Buffalo Junction replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Tre can make Gronk tweak out he can likely get OBJ into a tizzy. -
“When the passer goes outside the pocket area and either continues moving with the ball (without attempting to advance the ball as a runner) or throws while on the run, he loses the protection of the one-step rule provided for in (a) above, and the protection against a low hit provided for in (e) above, but he remains covered by all the other special protections afforded to a passer in the pocket (b, c, d, and f), as well as the regular unnecessary roughness rules”. https://operations.nfl.com/the-rules/nfl-video-rulebook/roughing-the-passer/ I couldn’t find the section that refers to pitches. Perhaps my interpretation is skewed by watching college ball, but in an option play the QB counts as a runner attempting to advance the ball. He’s fair game, particularly if running the ball close to the LOS.
-
That system has had sustainability issues in the past. An injury could completely derail it. I’m reserving final thoughts until Jackson shows he can dominate a decent defense without running or somehow manages not to get hurt for years.... If I’m an opposing D coach I’m preaching option rules to my DEs.... Hit the QB every play, even if he pitches the ball.
-
It offen takes offensive linemen and DTs 2 years to develop. DTs generally start flashing at the end of their rookie year. My take is Oliver hasn’t been bad, but every smaller DT not named Aaron Donald has taken 2-3 years to develop.... That includes Geno Atkins and John Randle. They need to master hand fighting technique. Ford is a little more concerning, but he seems to be slowly improving. He’ll probably improve after an off-season in an NFL conditioning program. 19 bench reps at 6’ 3” is reason to believe he’s a bit behind in upper body strength which may contribute to technique issues. Plus, whether he’s truly a guard or a tackle remains to be seen. If he ends up being a damn good guard I’ll be happy with the pick.

If you run the jet sweep there they should have tried it with Knox.... At least he can bowl over a safety and get back to the LOS.
