My concern with pulling Lorax is that we have three defensive starters that practiced against Roman’s schemes with Tyrod... Lorax is one along with Lawson and Hughes. There is value in having those players on the field together since they’re less likely to hesitate. That could make a massive difference in this game. Now, it’s also entirely possible that Jackson jukes them out of their socks, but that’s not entirely preventable with a safety in there either

He made an offer for Mack, so he’ll pay for edge players as well if the talent/production is there. I doubt he pays big money for a WR though unless it’s high end homegrown talent. I could see him paying a high number for a 1-2 year contract though as there’s flexibility with Allen on a rookie contract.

IMO a few people are confusing where Jackson is developmentally with how he’s performing in Romans scheme with the Ravens current personnel. The scheme and his running ability force defenders to abandon coverage responsibilities... Today’s game aside, Jackson’s rushing yards per attempt (7.1) is in line with Allen’s last year (7.1) and he has few TD runs than JA. However, he has certainly completed more passes. IMO you can’t just use total averages or the past few games with these running QBs. You have to look at total output, red zone efficiency and 3rd down conversion %. In general these kids are going to be a bit inconsistent their first 3-5 seasons.... What would worry me long term (aside from injury) is his continued success as personnel changes... Can he continue to improve, and can Roman adapt his scheme and playcalling? To this point the league has caught up with every incarnation of Romans offense after 2-3 years. So we sit here debating whether this Ravens offense is stoppable... Of course it is. Just like the Rams or Chiefs offense. However, that doesn’t mean that there are many teams (or any) with the personnel to snuff it out. The way that O is configured defenses basically have to decide where to allow the Ravens to run; inside with Ingram or outside with Jackson. The jet sweeps are window dressing that’ll be contained if you’re playing to control the edges. Ingram reduces the effectiveness of the big nickel SD employed last season, so any team that snuffs them is going to need LBers with the athleticism to contain Jackson as opposed to spying with an extra safety coupled with D linemen strong enough to hold ground and make plays unless doubled... You almost need a Pat Williams/Sam Adams pairing coupled with modern fast LBers and ends that contain. IDK if that’ll work, but those type of D’s worked pretty well against Vick. Of course you could hit QBs and light up receivers back then which helped the D.

How good are Tannenhill and the Titans ?
Buffalo Junction replied to Teddy KGB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah. He’s a FA. He’ll get a sizable contract, but I highly doubt it’ll be top 5 for RBs since they don’t use him on passing downs. -
Gotta defend their offense like the option... Makes me think of Dom Capers cracking out a 4-4 over and 3-5 with two NTs.

I kind of want Henry to replace Gore next season. The idea of relentlessly hammering teams with him and Singletary makes me something something. -
This Sunday's AFC games may HELP the Bills!

I think our best matchup would be the Titans. Yes, it’s a revenge game, but Tammyhill probably still has nightmares about Bills defenses. -

I’m just going to sit back and enjoy the resurgence of this rivalry. Gruden and Reid basically started on the same coaching staff... should be fun to watch over the next few years. -
Bored - Offseason Speculation
Buffalo Junction replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Phillips finishes the season with more than 8 sacks he’s likely going to get an offer over $10MM a year. I think we can probably resign him on the low end of a competitive offer, but I certainly wouldn’t rule out Phillips walking if he gets a ridiculous offer.... My hope is that we benefit from him seeing how bad some teams can be (thanks again Gase!). -

Yup. I could see Beane paying over the minimum though. It sets a good precedent for future UDFA signings... if you play, we pay. That’ll be important as this roster improves and a spot on the 53 becomes difficult to secure. -

Two accrued seasons is an ERFA. Three is a RFA. I believe they’re both two, so they can only negotiate with the Bills. Beane might give them more than a minimum contract, but they’re here if Beane and McD want them. -
If Foster Starts Rolling This Team Is Beyond Dangerous
Buffalo Junction replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We can hope it’s just that it was continuous nagging injuries. If that’s the case and he’s finally healthy he might make a big difference. Honestly, if he can make a chunk play or two happen every game he could free Brown up for some single coverage deep or just force teams into 2-deep coverage and free up Knox and Beasley. ?? -
Yup. The Murphy signing was a dud. I understand taking a shot on the guy, but it hasn’t really panned out... time to move on. We’ll see what the off-season brings. Hopefully it’s a top WR, DE, and some linemen. Regardless, I’d like to see J Phillips back, but he may have played his way into a contract Beane won’t offer with other players coming up soon. The guy seems to like it here though, so if they offer a fair and relatively competitive offer I imagine Phillips will return. Shaq IDK about... which means they may just keep Murphy if Shaq leaves in FA which I don’t want to see. Gonna be interesting for sure.

The Star that’s shown up the past couple games is worth his contract. The Star that showed up the first half of the season isn’t... At his salary one would expect a splash play every 1-2 games. His recent surge is a contributing factor to Oliver taking a step forward and some of these stunts working brilliantly.

Turning point in the game
Buffalo Junction replied to Big Blitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I’m not sure this team took it that way.... The consensus at my turkey watch party was “Damn. They’re desperate and coaching scared.” -

Since the eagles game we’re 4-1 and every victory has been by at least two scores and they’ve controlled the game. They seem to be peaking at the right time. If they keep this up every game down the stretch is winnable. I doubt it’ll happen, but this team could steal the division if they win out and NE somehow loses to the Texans and Chiefs... It’s a damn good time to be a Bills fan. ?. -

You’re probably correct. There will be a few contrarian opinions for sure. Only thing to stop those completely is a SB victory.... or five. Heck, there’s been a “Brady’s done” guy every year for the past decade. ?. Interestingly... the patsies currently seem to literally be shitting themselves right now. ?. Maybe that’s a sign. -

Did they earn the right to be called a good team? Absolutely. However, they haven’t done enough to shut up the talking heads who’re trying to save face on their preseason narratives. Some of those tools will ride their bias until the wheels fall off.... Beating the Ravens or Pats accomplishes that. That’s not BS. Just the simple fact that the narrative won’t change easily because some of those guys still think Allen sucks, Buffalo is a piss pot, etc. Cats like that don’t shut up until they’re forced into it.... None of this bothers me at all. This team is basically one win away from securing a spot in the playoffs. We’ve now seen them rise to the occasion on a big stage... We know that once they’re in the dance they can do some damage... What some doof I’ve never heard of thinks about the team is irrelevant towards my enjoyment of the season. Yesterday, I had a heck of a time eating turkey and doing shots of tequila every time the D line got to Dak and the O found pay dirt. Today I woke up happily hungover. ?♂️ -

Beat the Ravens and/or the Pats and the “ish” goes away.
