  1. I’m not necessarily sure that it’s an owners issue. It’s an issue that needs to be examined from the bottom up.... How many assistant coaching hires are minority candidates, are they promoted, is there more or less equality in the college ranks? Many of the best candidates tend to rise to the top, but if the best prospects never get that job as Asst LB coach at Middle Tennessee State they’ll never sniff a career. Another thing to look at with these coaching hires is the prevalence of former QBs and minority QB trends over the past few decades. A lot of these offensive coaches played QB.
  2. They might if they can use the guy as a DE on third downs. I really wouldn’t be surprised if they made a play for Judon or Dupree for that reason. Realistically, if they go the FA route I expect someone like Kyler Fackrell though. He offers a similar skill set to Alexander in a similar price bracket.
  3. I’ve been a fan of this kid for a while. I’d be perfectly content with adding him in the lay 4th or 5th. 5’11, 220 lbs and can catch. Added bonus.... watch him carry Jamal Adams 10 yards around the 2:10 mark.
  4. I’d view Hill as a McKenzie/Dimarco replacement with teams value.
  5. I’m hoping for LaMical Perine in the 4-5 range. Primarily because he’s a big patient back with burst and experience running routes from the slot. I’m hoping he’s devalued because the oline was bad enough to seriously affect his stats.
  6. My money is on AJ Epenesa if he slips past 15. Hard to tell where edge players go pre-combine unless they’re freaks. However, good Iowa lineman tend to have a high floor and help immediately.
  7. For me it’s the perpetual injuries that devalue Clowney more than anything else. If they can resign Lawson for 1/3 of a Clowney contract I’ll be content with that as long as they find some more talent at Edge. Whether that’s drafting a kid, signing Dupree to replace Alexander, etc doesn’t matter to me. They need talent in the pass rush.
  8. IIRC Clowney is playing with an abdominal hernia. The production doesn’t worry me so much as the injury history. He does play through that stuff. Plus, he pwned Jason Peters on Sunday.
  9. He’s currently working on turning the handle remnants into a shank.
  10. Too many stalled drives that resulted in field goals. That’s been an issue all season, and it’s the biggest indicator of an underperforming offense - points aside. Some of that is on Daboll, some on the WRs, some the O Line, and some on Allen. They need more talent and the coaching needs to improve. Daboll cannot broadcast play selection with packages until/unless the talent is at a level where it doesn’t matter. Add 2-4 playmakers at key positions and this team starts winning these types of games consistently. The foundation is built though. That’s an improvement upon the last two decades.
  11. Tackling has gotten worse across the league since this iteration of the CBA. They simply don’t have the ability to coach it properly in camp. That might be something teams need to focus on with draft prospects going forward... draft players who already have good form and are sure tacklers because you cannot teach it later.
  12. I’m curious. He’s a natural runner. It’s going to be interesting to see how much his knowledge of the game, blocking, etc have improved.
  13. A year from now Dallas fans are still going to be wondering why Zeke didn’t get the ball enough.
  14. Under Greg Roman after Watkins went public about getting the football. The passing game remained inconsistent but there were deep shots coupled with a top rushing attack.... which is my problem with Daboll.... if you have a back averaging 5 yards a carry you run him till he pukes. It makes everyone else on the offense perform better.
  15. Philly - dude should have known it was coming. I’m slightly surprised no one spit on him afterwards.
  16. He’s just quoting Mr Miyagi and old Wutang movies.
  17. I like Lawson on a mid level contract. Particularly with Hughes getting older and turnover coming at the position. He’s damn good against the run and does an excellent job keeping mobile QBs contained. That said, he and Murphy can be improved upon. It’s a matter of resources. I’m not as enamored with Spain as some. If he’s back I’d like to see him drop some weight. He’s had a few mishaps where he gets exposed by stunts. I’m still not sure how much of that is on him or Morse and Allen setting protections. He’s upgradable for sure, but he’s also nowhere near a liability. Ford might be after a position change - it’s an unknown. Unfortunately we don’t have any dominant lineman to elevate play across the board. That would make guys like Spain look better.
  18. Pork shoulder and southern sides, German beer, cocktails, and a bunch of dudes with “playoff flu”.
  19. He needs to get together with Ed Orgeron and record a Christmas album for the lulz.
  20. Can’t compare the stats man. It was a different league. D lineman could murder QBs and DBs could mug WRs. For reference in 93’ Jim Kelly threw for 3382 yards, 18 TDs, and 18 INTs compared to Favre’s 3303 yards, 19 TDs and 24 INTs. Not too far off. For sure they tried to reign in the gunslinging. IIRC Holmgren added penalties for Favre’s turnovers which would violate the current CBA. Still, GB didn’t restrict the gameplans to account for Favre throwing into coverage. They let him play and learn.
  21. Favre slung it early. Certainly helped having a HOF level talent WR1; pro bowlers at WR2, WR3 and TE, and a RB with several 60 reception seasons though. Not to mention a coaching staff that had Mike Holmgren, Sherman Lewis, Steve Mariucci, Jon Gruden, Gil Haskell, and Andy Reid. Putting players and coaching talent like that around Allen and he’ll look a lot better quickly. Particularly if there weren’t any rules about not contacting players in the offseason. I like this coaching staff.... That early 90’s GB staff was one of the greatest offensive staffs ever assembled though.
  22. I’m not a PFF fan. To me they seem like Randy Marsh on SP creating a metric to make his penis seem average sized. The notable flaws are certainly Phillips, but also Tre White.... That said, this team just needs a couple guys to go over the top. I’m not enamored with Spain - He’s not athletic enough to pull and misses on stunts - but I think he may be replaced. Aside from that a top pass rusher and 1-2 playmakers on offense and this team will be in contention.
  23. Just wait it out. If the Bills beat the Ravens in the playoffs mail the guy a frozen crow and a tin of old bay.
