PFF's Big Board (I know I know, but hear me out)
Buffalo Junction replied to DCOrange's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I’m not big on trade ups, but we’ve done a good job since Beane has arrived (post Zay). I do like what I’ve seen from Epenesa though, so if Beane’s all in on the guy I’m okay with it. That said, I expect him to address any perceived holes before the draft. -

They don’t need to replace McKenzie with another Smurf. SF uses Deebo Samuel for the same type of plays. The aforementioned Cordarrelle Patterson is bigger than Shenault. Certainly possible. It’s difficult to predict where a lot of these guys go before the combine, team visits, etc. There are usually a few surprise picks (Daniel Jones) every year too, which can make other guys (Oliver) drop. -

Well, this is who they met with at the senior bowl. Michigan EDGE Josh Uche Utah EDGE Bradlee Anae Arizona State WR Brandon Aiyuk Notre Dame WR Chase Claypool Liberty WR Antonio Gandy-Golden Arizona State RB Eno Benjamin Uche is definitely on the radar. I still think that Beane has a hard on for Epenesa, and might trade up to the mid teens if he lasts like Edmunds. -

Nope. The idea has been floating a bit, and now that everyone is starting to go back and look at tape more are seeing it. I’m still not sure how much of his disappearances at WR are on him or the rest of that offense though. There were a few games where he was clearly above and beyond his teammates in talent and the whole offense looked bad as a result. I fully understand this point of view, and it’s valid. I’m just not sure if that’s where we should go with the first pick. I personally would want an additional hedge at WR whether that’s another rookie like Van Jefferson or a FA addition. Usually guys like Shenault tend to be that last piece for an offense. Undoubtedly I’d love to replace McKenzie with Shenault, but there’s also the possibility that you can get a similar skill set from a guy like Ty Montgomery.... or even utilize some of the same plays with a LaMical Perine or a Kenyon Drake. We’ll see how this plays out as the draft process unfolds. -

Glad that caught traction. Seriously, my biggest fear with him as a prospect. IDK. I will say that every time I watched a Clemson game this year I came away wanting Justyn Ross instead of Higgins. Being in NY instead of Carolina this fall limited my viewing options though. -
I generally give linemen two years before making any assumptions on where they’re going to end up on the NFL talent spectrum. They’re usually so far behind the vets in technique and strength that it takes a NFL off-season to catch up. Oliver’s career is going to depend on how good he gets at hand fighting and following keys. He’s a starting level talent now, but if his hand fighting improves that pass rush and splash plays will improve. IMO Ford isn’t strong enough and has technique issues because of it. He’s shown he can run the arc with DE’s, but can get owned by good DEs with inside counters and the speed and strength. He will have to get stronger and become a technician to stay at RT. We’ll find out McBeans decision on the G/RT debate this off-season. Singletary.... Hit, plain and simple. Kid can ball. Needs to improve ball security and pass pro, but I’m happy he fell to the 3rd. He’s a damned greased pig in the box. Knox has the physical talent to be a top TE in the league. He needs to improve his concentration and blocking to realize that talent. He’s the player I’m most hopeful about. If he makes a big improvement in either blocking or hands then the offense gets more dynamic instantly. If Knox makes big strides in both he will end up on a lot of breakout players lists next year V Joseph intrigues me because of his physical talent. Hopefully they can clean up his play and gambling nature, because the kid is a freaking missile. We shall see. Can’t wait for camp. Sweeney certainly doesn’t have Knox’s physical talent. He’ll never be a top TE because of that. However, he seems to have a knack for showing up. He finds holes in zones and works open when Allen scrambles. Like most young TEs that didn’t play at Iowa he needs to improve his blocking. The rest of these guys have more questions because they didn’t play a whole ton. I’m waiting to see in any really improve and jump out in camp. If I’m putting money down for a late round pick to jump out next year at SJF I’m putting that money on Darryl Johnson. It’s quite possible that he shows up in camp bigger, stronger, faster, and smarter. Overall I love this draft. I think it also provided us with some insight into how McBeane are going to improve talent while winning. A lot of the players they’ve drafted have exceptional physical talent, but were raw due to small schools and thus slide a bit. They seem to be looking at potential ceilings and work ethic/drive. I believe that’s something to key on as we look at draft prospects.

I still can’t believe they retire at halftime either. ?♂️? It’s fun. The kids really enjoy it. I “watched” it while I repotted house plants. It was kind of nice seeing a few Bills in the game at once. I don’t think there’s really any way to rescue the pro bowl with the injury risk and current pay structure. IIRC the game pay used to be as high as the Super Bowl with the winning team getting substantially more than the losers. Salaries have gotten so high that the extra money is irrelevant to stars that have gone through FA. Couple that with Florida instead of Hawaii, being before the SB, and a lot of players just don’t care about it at all.

Helps when the defense only uses zone coverages and the DBs are giving 70% effort too. ?

Return specialist. Greg Roman is just using him at WR

Does anyone have a comprehensive list of players the Bills met with during Senior Bowl week? So far I’ve found this. Michigan EDGE Josh Uche Utah EDGE Bradlee Anae Arizona State WR Brandon Aiyuk Notre Dame WR Chase Claypool Liberty WR Antonio Gandy-Golden Arizona State RB Eno Benjamin https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.syracuse.com/buffalo-bills/2020/01/nfl-draft-2020-who-have-the-buffalo-bills-met-with-at-senior-bowl.html%3foutputType=amp

I’m not sure how much of that is Roman though. He’s by no means daft, but Culley is their passing game coordinator and was hired to help redesign the passing schemes. “When Mornhinweg declined an offer to stay on staff, the Ravens wanted to hire an experienced coach with expertise in the passing game to help build an offense around 22-year-old quarterback Lamar Jackson.” As much as Culley wasn’t the best QB coach here he certainly has a massive knowledge base when it comes to route concepts, etc. Particularly from spending so much time under Andy Reid. Still, the Ravens had issues with WRs getting free when Jackson didn’t pressure the LoS. That said, the offense is capable of evolving. Harbough has created an environment where the whole offense is a collaborative effort. I’m just not certain how far the changes will go, if they’ll lose critical staff before reaching its potential, or if Jackson will improve his outside passing. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.pennlive.com/baltimore-ravens/2019/01/baltimore-ravens-hire-david-culley-as-passing-game-coordinatorwide-receivers-coach.html%3foutputType=amp

Potential Kareem Hunt Interest
Buffalo Junction replied to JGMcD2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the issue would be that Nsekhe and Duke proved it over a period of time before coming here. Hunt isn’t years removed from an incident, and he hasn’t struggled and fought to resurrect a career from shambles as the other two have. -
2020 top 50 prospects #1 - Daniel Jeremiah

4.42 IIRC. We’ll see what Shenault runs. I haven’t watched a ton of the kid. He’d be an A+ replacement for McKenzie from what I’ve seen. The physical upside is impressive, but I wasn’t particularly impressed by his receiving against Oregon and Utah. That said, Shenault looked like the only NFL talent on his team.... kind of like when you look at D Singletary’s tape against Oklahoma. -

So you’re afraid he’s basically Cordarrelle Paterson 2.0? -
I have no doubt that he’s the best looking WR there. His route running is light years ahead of most college receivers and he has good hands. Go watch the LSU game where he pwns a cb repeatedly with technique. My viewpoint stems from him having advanced coaching (Dad’s an NFL WR turned NFL WR coach) coupled with him being 24 and having likely maxed out his physical potential as well. It’s in my other posts about Jefferson. He’s a solid bet to not only make a roster, but open the season as a WR 3.... high floor. I can’t recall him just flat out physically dominating top competition though. @Ayjent might be able to provide an example since he’s a ? fan. I’m just not sure if teams are going to run to the podium early for the kid unless he lights up the combine or fits need when there is an abundance of talent at the position. I can definitely see him fitting in with Gruden, McVay, or McCarthy. Jets will have the full book on the kid since his dads their WR coach. Out of curiosity. How did LaMical Perine look at practice? I’m curious about him since he has had moments where he just takes over a game, and other times there’s just no holes.

When the Aaron Hernandez special comes off of Netflix? ?♂️ -
He might still be a 4th rounder. There’s a lot of WR talent, and how Mel sees things could be wildly different from GMs.... ref. DK. Metcalf. Hard to tell anything before FA and the combine when all the agent talk and interviews kick into gear. I do think Jefferson has extra value for teams looking at a positional overhaul as opposed to teams looking to add home run hitters or develop talent. I could see Beane double dipping this draft and grabbing a WR with tons of potential and another with a high floor.... depends on the value. I’d rather swing and hit on a Robert Woods than swing and miss on a Carlos Rogers.

AJ Brown might be the closest physical comparison to Moulds. I haven’t watched much of him in in Tenn aside from when we played them. Nice breakdown. My Jefferson concerns are that he can get outmuscled by physical press corners, and that he’s a high-floor low-ceiling prospect. The latter isn’t necessarily a bad thing if he’s available in rounds 3-5. I’d be pretty happy if Beane spent a 3rd to draft a rookie that is better than all our depth WRs by game 1 of the regular season. Plus he grew up in an NFL household, so he’s not going to be shocked by the schedule and work demands.
-
I can’t make the leap. There are some stunning similarities. Particularly with how they can both play(ed) physical, maintain concentration on the ball and their body control. However, Moulds was often the best athlete on the field. Just bigger, stronger, and faster than any of the secondary players, so it’s difficult to compare Deebo to that for me... Almost unfair... As a proper modern comparison might be to stick Deebos skill set DK Metcalfs body. Wouldn’t be fair to compare Metcalf either since Moulds had more agility and flexibility which is obvious when you watch them sink their hips. DK has that Moulds stiff arm though. Moulds was just a freak

Aiyuk doesn’t seem to have the same lateral agility as Samuel. That said, I love the kids ability to read the open field and weave through defenders... dangerous on slants; sudden on a 45, but not so much on a 90. Aiyuk goes from 2nd gear to 3rd in a hurry. Samuel on the other hand has RB moves and size. I’ve only seen a few of Aiyuk games though, so I’m giving a bit of a hollow opinion. Samuel I watched for years since I was living in Carolina at the time.
