TSW Mock Draft 2.0 - Complete!
Buffalo Junction replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was a bit conflicted on the pick. However, they signed Trufant, and there’s a bit of depth at CB... Should be value there at the top of round 2. DT is a massive need for Detroit and the value was there for a top 5 pick. They need a day one starter on the DL. I think you’re also neglecting how bad their interior D line is. In an ideal world I would have traded back to 5 and selected whichever player of Brown and Okudah was left while getting another pick out of the deal. With a trade down to 7 I may have gone OT. -

The Lions were hoping that the Redskins were going a different direction and Chase Young dropped. He wasn’t available, but that doesn’t change the fact that Detroit needs serious help along the defensive line. Mike Daniels, A’Shawn Robinson and Snacks out of the mix the need for a dominant DT was amplified. Derrick Brown is an example of need and BPA meeting. There was a faction in the war room lobbying for Okudah, but we decided that corners aren’t worth as much when opposing offenses don’t have to pass the football. -

With the 3rd pick the Detroit Lions select Derrick Brown, DT. Auburn. The NYG (@Sherlock Holmes) are now on the clock. -

“Breaking” nfl news at 9 tonight per jay glazer
Buffalo Junction replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I’m assuming the 23.5 sacks Reggie White got in 2 USFL seasons don’t count? If you go by first three seasons in the NFL White had 52. ?♂️. In his “rookie” year he played a full USFL season and logged 11.5 sacks then had his contract bought out by the Eagles, reported week 4, and then proceeded to log 13 sacks in the NFL. Keep in mind that he basically played two professional seasons in 12 months which is insane. Reggie White and Bruce Smith were on a different level. Aldon Smith is more comparable to Von Miller. -

I have him pegged for mid 3rd to early 4th. He reminds me of Marion Barber. -

I’m in. @Virgil you can pick the team. -
I’ll have to remember that. My sister and her husband actually moved to Greensboro about a month after I moved back up here. ?. I’ll definitely be in that area in the future. Gonna be nice having a Wegmans in Durham as well. Absolutely worth an occasional 1 hour drive to stock up on proper hotdogs and other assorted WNY staples.

616 is a farm to table restaurant on Main Street north of the river. High end southern fusion at good prices. Moved back to Rochester a year ago, so I can’t comment on the current state of things. Still have my house in Buffalo Springs though, so I’ll be back down after this virus runs it’s course. Wish I’d known about the 716 wings place. Good wings are a hard find down there. Best I found were the “crack wings” at Tailgator in South Boston.

For those that want a RB in the first few rounds
Buffalo Junction replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It does, but a lot of the interviewing and white board stuff can be done with video conferencing. I think the more progressive front offices that embrace technology and do their homework will be fine. The Buddy Nix types (if there are any left) will be at a disadvantage. Most of these workouts are for medical and confirmation. To be honest, I’m not sure what the rules are for the extent of contact through media technologies. ?♂️ -

I’m not so sure that the draft will be a cluster F. Most of the scouting was done shortly after the combine. The more organized front offices will likely do better this year than less organized GMs. The big change up is that some prospects with medical concerns or character questions will probably drop further. We’re not privy to all that information, so it may seem that some of these kids dropped for no reason. -

I doubt he goes before the 4th. He’s good at a lot of things, but he doesn’t seem to have any outstanding physical traits. He has excellent vision and can press the LOS though, so with a good Oline he could do serious damage. -

Perine probably has the most experience with that having lined up out wide. Caught 40 passes last season. I’m still thinking that they may add a WR with backfield experience as well. I honestly wouldn’t be shocked to see them grab a bigger back like Zack Moss and a WR like Bowden who can play RB in a pinch or get utilized for jet sweeps, etc. -
RB is a really GLARING need, right?
Buffalo Junction replied to Richard Noggin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
From what’s been reported the bills have met with: Swift, Akers, Eno Benjamin, Zack Moss, and Edwards-Helaire. I’d expect Beane to go to the well here and pick someone they interviewed, but without order aft visits.... who knows who they’ve actually talked with in-depth (Mims aside). IIRC some of the staff also spent a fair amount of of time around all the senior bowl backs like Perine. They also interviewed two WRs with a lot of backfield experience (Shenault and Bowden), so drafting one of them and signing a FA RB could also happen. -
He needs to work on his craft. High potential with lower floor than a lot of casual draft followers notice. I wouldn’t be surprised if he lasted longer than a fair amount of folks project with all the other options in this draft. None of us got to interview him and those around him though, so we can’t gauge his work ethic, etc. The question I have is , how much of what you don’t see on tape is because he couldn’t do it vs wasn’t asked to do it?

Strength and Conditioning?
Buffalo Junction replied to OldTimer1960's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Perhaps they’re all at Trent Murphy’s home gym lifting in hazmat suits. https://buffalonews.com/2018/05/10/new-bills-linebacker-defensive-trent-murphys-home-gym-is-insane/ -
I’d imagine that the optics and intentions matter. I can’t see the NFL allowing the trade to go through if the owner makes a public statement lambasting BOB. Imagine the public reaction and ***** show if the owner made an announcement that BOB made the trade after leaked info about him being fired...

Would Cam Newton be a good backup to Josh?
Buffalo Junction replied to longtimebillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I’d be tempted just to see what Oliver does in camp. ?♂️ -
Moss is certainly intriguing. Unfortunately it sometimes looks like his cleats are made of lead. Heck of a blocker with reliable hands, and the kid can catch when getting smacked. You might be dead on the money with him moving to fullback/H-back.

I picked him for the packers with the second round pick in that mock draft we all did. ?
