  1. Agree. Not having two starting LBers doesn’t help them there though. Particularly when it’s their two best LBers not named Watt. What’s the weather supposed to be Sunday? Not that forecast matters since WNY weather changes quicker than than a stripper after a lap dance.
  2. Blitzed on that in my precoffee state. I could certainly see a Patricia hire at DC, although I think there might be better options. Honestly, I’m kind of curious if Daboll has a defensive scheme preference.
  3. The issue with their defense is that they may be without both starting corners Sunday in addition to their 3rd string ILB, and Dupree being out. That’s a bad recipe of injuries for defending our offense, especially if Allen is feeling it.
  4. The strength of our defense matches up with the strength of their offense, and McD/Frazier have proven that they can stick it to one dimensional offenses. Couple that with the key injuries they have on defense and you have a lot of the ingredients for a blow out. I expect a relatively tight game, but I can understand the trepidation of Steelers fans for this game.
  5. I doubt Daboll will leave for a franchise with bad ownership. Add a pay raise and OC/Asst HC promotion, and Daboll will be in a position to bid his time and cherry pick opportunities for a few years. However, he’s going to leave at some point. When we look at his background it’s kind of obvious that he’ll be able to put together a solid staff. The guy’s got solid connections with staff from Saban, McD, Belichick, and Zimmer. That coupled with his experience will allow him to put together one hell of a resume.
  6. D Johnson is starting to show that he’ll be in the league for a while. A few things that I’ve noticed about his improvement.... His playing speed has increased in both teams and DE. I think he’s finally comfortable and confident enough in the NFL to be aggressive. Johnson’s definitely gotten stronger, and that extra strength has allowed him to utilize his speed and length more effectively. The biggest change is that Johnson is now utilizing that power with counter moves. Notably he’s figured out how to transition from running the arc to a bull rush or rip when he gets a tackle off balance. I think we’re seeing those counter moves and hand fighting manifest in his ability to be effective on teams as well. It’s really encouraging to see the small school guy beginning to figure it all out as our starters age. At the very least with Johnson and Epenesa we know we have solid depth if not starters behind Hughes and Addison. It’s encouraging as the latter two are getting a little long in the tooth.
  7. Go look at my first posts in this thread. I don’t think Beane will pay what Jones wants either. I’ve just been disagreeing with folks about the amount of money that Jones will likely get on the open market. Particularly the idea of getting Jones for $8MM-$9MM a year. GB usually extends guys they want and can keep before October of their final contract year. Now, he might very well sign with them or another contending team for that amount if the market is bad due to Covid and reduced salary caps..... but..... there’s always a sucker with money to burn on playmakers.
  8. Except Jones doesn’t have a lot of miles. He has half the number carries that Bell had when he signed that Jets contract, and he’s not coming off a gap year. Of course Jones touch total is also about 1/3 the total workload of McCoy when we traded for, and extended him. It’s not an exact science. The one truth is that there’s almost always a few teams that will pay big money for game breaking offensive talent regardless of risk.
  9. Otay. Did they overpay because he underperformed due to lack of talent, because the Jests Oline was historically bad, or because the Jests play caller is a functionally ######ed meth addict obsessed with floating tacos?
  10. I’m a little confused. Bell got $13MM/yr from the Jets, and Covid aside contracts have gone up.
  11. Absolutely not. I’m saying that if he was willing to take Drake money the Packers would have already extended him along with Clark and Bakhtiari. They always try to extend players early and talks with Jones stalled. Now they have a situation where they have to consider paying Jones or Lindsey over $10MM/yr.... Chances are they resign their center instead of Jones.
  12. 100%. If he could be signed for Kenyon Drake money he’d already have been resigned by GB. They already resigned Bakhtiari and Kenny Clark, and if pushed they’ll resign Corey Lindsey for $12MM before they ink Jones for that..... Center > runningback.
  13. I assume he’s referring to some of the QB draws and sweeps they’ve run and possibly how Allen has a TD reception. It’s certainly there on tape, although not a fundamental part of Daboll’s scheme. Who knows though. Maybe Saleh found Allen’s inside running to be particularly impressive. 🤷‍♂️
  14. I’d love him mixed in here, especially with Daboll finding new ways to use him. That said, I doubt GB let’s him go. I’m of the opinion that Dillon was picked to replace Williams (also 2021 UFA), and they plan on pairing him with Jones. Of course the reduced cap could interrupt that. Particularly since GB seems to have gone back to prioritizing their Oline since replacing Thompson. I hope Beane continues to upgrade our Oline as well. Every skill position looks better with a top Oline.
  15. My point is that his value is higher than Elliott because he can play every receiving position. McCaffery, Kamara, and maybe L Bell are the only other RBs that can reliably play WR. Jones is likely the best of the bunch when lined up outside in the x or z.
  16. Williams is a UFA after this season as well. GB will pick one to resign. I’d bet on Jones unless they can’t afford him.
  17. Leads the league in TDs the past few years, can run post routes like a WR and plays in the slot, etc. I didn’t base his contract value on Elliot as Zeke can’t play WR. The closest comps are Kamara and McCaffery, who earn $15MM and $16MM respectively. He’s not a one trick pony. Jones is a multidimensional weapon, and the only way he doesn’t get paid for that is Covid cap suppression. RBs that average 5 y/c, lead the league in TDs, and can line up outside and beat probowl corners with double moves are unicorns. JMO.
  18. Jones is going to get PAID. No way Beane gives a RB a $15MM/yr contract which is what Jones will be looking for. The guy knows that his receiving ability, speed and TD totals make his a unique talent.
  19. Edmunds is fine. He’s not a thumper, but he’s usually a sure tackler, and that wingspan not only changes zone depth but changes rushing lanes. If the kid could catch we’re talking about sports center highlights instead of his defaults. If we’re honest..... Bills fans have complained about every MLB since Chris Spielman. Only reason they didn’t complain about him is that bitching about a three time all-pro makes you look like a moron.
  20. No arguing that McGlinchey and whomever they have at RG have been awful. I don’t see their pass blocking improving much individually. I do think SF will have more success running the ball with Kittle back though. Dude doesn’t get enough credit for how good he is at hooking edge rushers. I don’t think he’s good. Just that he’s substantially better than Mullens at setting protections. 🤷‍♂️
  21. It’s been bad. There’s no debating that. I’m not exactly sure how much the injuries to other positions have played a part in their Oline doing so poorly. However, I’d imagine that Mullens is substantially worse than JG at setting protections, and the skill position injuries/Covid (mainly Kittle) have allowed defenses to load the box. Not the Bills problem, but if they squeak into the playoffs and get both Kittle and JG back they could make a little noise.
  22. I’m not sure all the stats and metrics apply to the 49ers due to all of the injuries and Covid stuff. Their roster has fluctuated substantially over the season. They’ve gotten healthier over the past few weeks, and may very well outperform those figures down the stretch.
  23. They will if it’s a one score win when most of the points come from field goals. Definitely not gonna get defensive player of the week when your team loses by two scores unless the defensive player out scores his offense.
  24. Would not “should”. McD and Beane like nepotism.... All of those guys in my post know each other, and most worked together for years. With that in mind, I’m sure they’ll go through all of any prospective OC’s calls and look at all the finite details. I’m sure McD will have a better idea after going through that tape about why Wentz has regressed than any of us. I mean, he knows that offensive system almost as well as he knows his own defense. Who knows though. McD has been around a long time, and could easily just promote Dorsey and bring in a guy like a Norv Turner to some specialist role as a go to for Dorsey to bounce ideas off of. I’m not gonna stress about it until it happens. Particularly with Pederson as Wentz’s regression will have more light shes on it after the season. For all we know he ignored practicing fundamentals all offseason and just spent time with his newborn. 🤷‍♂️
