  1. Not the best example as multiple players - Jalen Reagor for example - have timed slower at the combine than the Opening. They usually change their body composition quickly in college programs and it makes a difference.
  2. We’re looking at a battle in both guard spots unless they manage to bring in a top FA. My opinion is that Ford could make a solid leap if he can get a full off season in one guard spot or the other. We’ll see how it plays out. What’s lost in their commentary is how good Bell was at manipulating LBers by pressing lanes and setting up blocks while being patient. His ability to get LBers to hesitate helped his linemen. That skill seems gone now, but it was something I look for now in RB prospects.
  3. Why? A broken fibula is sort of a freak result of having a 300 lb man roll into your leg at full speed. Unless it’s shattered or gets infected it heals easily. The meniscus this season - 4 years after the fibula - should heal up fine. He was banged up a bit in 19’ but still started 15 games and played in 16. I’d be a lot more concerned with them not letting him settle into a single position and hone his technique.
  4. Agree on the pass rusher. Outside of the top 10 they usually take time to develop even when they do hit. I’m not against an edge player, but it’s be unfair to expect them to walk in the door and get 10 sacks their rookie year. Now, if they manage to nab a top DT in FA or through trade grooming a DE along with Epenesa and Johnson to take over for Hughes and Addison makes sense.
  5. I’m high on Ford. How he handled Donald - and at times Brockers- after switching to left guard was impressively unexpected. If I had to bet I’d say LG is his natural ability shows best.
  6. A lot of things stuck out about personnel mismatches against the Chiefs. I agree that this team needs another playmaker on offense, a top edge rusher, and some speed in the secondary. What I haven’t seen mentioned much in comparison is how badly this team needs an interior player that can win 1:1 matchups against probowl caliber DTs. Chris Jones put every single one of our interior blockers on skates, and for good measure he beat Mongo like a red headed step child. They couldn’t even double team him reliably. Having Ford back might help. For as inconsistent as he was playing three different positions he did manage to handle Donald well enough for shift Donald over Winters. If I’m looking at spending some big money in FA I’m looking at interior linemen along with edge and CB.
  7. This is why I wait till FA to start really thinking about what guys teams will look into drafting. It’s just ranking positions until that point.... Particularly with the salary cap this upcoming season. Right now I don’t think we can rule out Beane trying to overhaul the trenches a bit, especially if he can get top value. Can’t yet rule out something completely unexpected like going after Brandon Scherff if he hits the market. If this team wants to beat the Chiefs they need an answer for Chris Jones, which means getting at least one interior player that can win one on one matchups against pro bowl DTs.
  8. He may just be trying to create some flexibility for a trade/release or insure that he stays in GB. Without any actual details it’s hard to tell what he’s after. I’d bet that it’s more money, but maybe he realized that a “Brady rate” and an extra player could get him that one last super bowl. 🤷‍♂️. In any case he’s intentionally putting pressure on the front office for a reason. Not necessarily. Have you seen how many bad DBs they’ve drafted in the first two rounds over the past several years.
  9. There were rumors about him possibly having type 2 diabetes years ago. He’s lost a lot of weight since then. I have no clue if there’s any truth to that, but spending as long as he did that obese and burning the candle on both ends with a HC schedule isn’t good for ones health. It would be a bit surprising if he’s still there coaching in his 70’s by the end of Mahomes’ contract.
  10. People seem to forget that his contract was tweaked to give him more guaranteed money and lower the hit in case the salary cap dropped due to Covid. Beane and Diggs agent were upfront, transparent, and negotiated for this already. Diggs won’t hold out this year, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see a 2022 extension. Beane communicates with these guys and their agents.... folks have to get used to that after far too many years of Brandon and other inept execs commanding Overdorf.
  11. We’ll see what happens once that contract money starts affecting their cap situation in the next 2-3 years. He only counted for around $5.3MM this year. IIRC it bumps up to $25MM next season, $30MM year after that, and then $40MM+ every year after that with one year at around $60MM. Plus, Reid isn’t exactly the healthiest guy in the world. I don’t think he’s coaching them by the time Mahomes contract ends.
  12. Agree. IIRC, Julius Peppers played 80-85% in that defense.
  13. IDK about a pure edge rusher. I see him as more naturally having that Manny Lawson and Anthony Barr skill set. To the OP.... I don’t think it’s time to give up on Oliver. He has talent, but he needs to get much better at hand fighting to start making splash plays. He just doesn’t have the size and length to win without improving that aspect of his game. That is one area of Donald’s skillset that is best in the league, and it’s often how he creates opportunities to use his leverage and strength. It would also help to have a dominant DT or DE next to him that forces offenses to choose who to double team. Right now I can’t say that we have a single Dline player that commands a double team or extra attention and that lets offenses run combination blocks at the point of attack without negative results.
  14. It’s more a matter of there being some injury every season. My personal opinion is that it’s irrelevant in deciding to bring Milano back, but it may influence guaranteed money and/ incentive and bonus money. More than anything else I’d like to see them bring Milano back and get a solid LB with a similar skill set so the defense doesn’t fall apart if he goes out. This team is at the point where a loss or two can dramatically influence playoff positioning. LB depth was a serious issue at the beginning of this season.
  15. They might need to look at Bobby Johnson & Daboll’s’ blocking schemes and play designs as well. It seems like there are a few issues besides just a lack of talent at play. As much as I’ve been down on Ford all year, I do recall the Rams moving Donald around because Ford managed to stonewall him. It may be that our Oline talent isn’t reaching its potential, and that’s on coaching.
  16. The bolded is the only reason why resigning Milano to a hefty contract isn’t a no brainer. Availability has been a serious issue with him. All of the other arguments against resigning him are exaggerations at best. The only question is wether or not this team can afford to gamble a lot of cap space on his health.
  17. I don’t think there’s enough talent on the roster at the correct places to beat the chiefs. This defense desperately needs an elite pass rusher and someone in the secondary with serious speed to compete in games like this. We don’t have anyone on the DL that automatically commands double teams on every play. Plus this defense can’t reliably use man coverage without having one player that can cover speed deep.
  18. I’m not going to gripe on the refs, and I like officials allowing guys to play. That said, not calling player safety penalties leads to things like that skirmish at the end of the game. Let’s hope the new found bad blood inspires guys to work harder in the off-season and play with more attitude next season.
  19. We play TB in t he SB and McD needs to tell the officials that he’ll put them in a sleeper hold if they call the game like this
  20. Smart move with Allen and the weapons here. It’s likely quicker path to a HC job than going somewhere else.
  21. It tends to happen with strong armed QBs that can (and will) sling the ball into unexpected areas from unusual angles. Losing that little bit of reaction time causes the drops. Fortunately, our guys have the benefit of practicing against Allen, so they may be a bit more prepared for that than most teams. As an aside, I would love to see that statistic with Favre.... or maybe a long video of all Favre’s dropped interceptions. I certainly remember a few that just straight up went through a DBs hands and hit them in the face mask.
  22. And perhaps the biggest pro bowl snub of all.... Their center, Corey Lindsey, didn’t make the pro bowl despite being a first team all pro this year. Pro Bowl fan voting is a damn joke at best. To look at that Oline honestly, it’s two first team all pros at LT & center, and a young probowler who will likely be an all pro in another couple years. Jenkins is a beast. To the OP. As for drafting a RB in the first.... we’re drafting 30th-32nd ATM without some trade. Harris and Etienne will likely be gone by then along with the top pass rushers. For a RB the Bills will likely be looking at guys like Javonte Williams at our draft position. Might just be better to take a lineman, DB, or LBer. Maybe we’ll get lucky and have someone like Marvin Wilson fall into our laps though. Who knows. Covid is likely to make the whole 2021 draft process unusual.
  23. Hollywood agents are very accustomed to lower money deals. They negotiate them quite often, especially when it improves the clients brand and future value. All those art films, side projects, and tv cameos don’t pay the big bucks. What they’re brilliant at is finding extra avenues for revenue, and they’re willing to adapt to attain long term goals and rebrand clients. All that said, I doubt Allen takes some major hometown discount without other factors.... Major endorsement deal (think nba $$$), fully guaranteed contract, etc.
