Worst Year Ever in the NFL for Overall Quality of Play?
Buffalo Junction replied to jethro_tull's topic in The Stadium Wall
I agree with this. I think an important aspect we’re neglecting though is that high school and middle school football has also moved to spread offenses. That shift started to happen around ten years ago. As such we’re now seeing a majority of QBs and Olinemen coming into the NFL having never (respectively) played under center or in a three point stance. Those early repetitions can be critical for technique, especially for linemen who are learning to manipulate leverage against different body types. Basically, these guys aren’t getting their 10,000 repetitions until their rookie contract is expiring. The flipside of linemen and QBs delayed development in traditional offenses is defensive exposure to the spread. All of these defensive players have now been seeing variations of these plays since 8th grade. Not only are they are coming into the league with all of the reps and experience to defend against spread offenses, but those who excelled defending it have risen to the top. What’s interesting to me is that many of the defensive fundamentals haven’t changed while Oline techniques have. Front 7 players have just learned how to track motion from running options instead of keying off of fullbacks. Personnel wise I think Belichick kind of had the right idea with going back to a 2 TE run based offense. Unfortunately for him finding the players to execute that offense isn’t easy with todays players. The Packers pulled this off for the past few years, but haven’t been able to retain interior linemen and have now lost the receiving talent to force light boxes. 49ers are probably the best case of this working. It seems that the only way to make that team building concept work long term is to have an above average QB on a reasonable contract so you can afford better linemen. As a result offenses probably won’t change unless QB pay is limited to a lower percentage of the cap. -
Week 8: SNF Packers at Bills (-10.5) 10/30 8:20pm

You joke, but it’s possible… Hackett and Rodgers got along splendidly. I wouldn’t rule out Hackett being the locker room mediator who kept Rodgers in check. -

Gary being out would be a huge loss for that defense. -
THE trade target we should be targeting... (Elgton Jenkins)
Buffalo Junction replied to glazeduck's topic in The Stadium Wall
What’s surprising about him being held out of practice? He tore his ACL in the second half of last season and has been getting a lower workload this year as he plays his way back to form. Plus, there’s no way in hell that any NFL team trades away a probowl lineman on a rookie contract that can play every position on the Oline. The only way a guy like that gets shipped off is if he beats down the starting QB in practice after getting caught with three kilos of Peruvian marching powder. -
[Name Only Title] Kareem Hunt ??????????????????
Buffalo Junction replied to Paul Costa's topic in The Stadium Wall
Difference is Ahman Green was averaging almost 5.5 yards per carry, and was stuck behind Ricky Waters who was still rattling off 1200 yard seasons. Plus, you can’t teach speed which unlike Green, Moss doesn’t have. -
Broncos getting trade calls for Jeudy and Chubb
Buffalo Junction replied to BuffaloBills1998's topic in The Stadium Wall
Second preseason game against the broncos. One drive with all the starters, then another drive with backup wideouts, Moss, and the starting Oline minus Saffold and Brown. It was the only time he looked really good. IIRC, he remembered how to feed Diggs and put up 14 points. Granted…. Preseason. -

I’m a bit amazed by the Kamara thing disappearing. Mixon though was much more forgivable to me considering that - IIRC - he was 18, the lady hit him first, and her friend directed a racial slur at him right before she hit him. The fallout and consequences from that were notable as well considering he hasn’t done anything dumb since. -

Gary is usually matched up against right tackles. They move their best rushers around though. One alignment puts P Smith between RG & RT, Gary wide 9, and Clark inside shoulder of the LT with Reed at NT and a LBer closely stacked over Clark. All their Dlinemen are 6’3” and 300+ and they move them based on down and distance. Lowry in particular is one to keep an eye on as he’s an underrated player who can tip passes and exploit one on one’s. They take advantage of this by putting Gary outside him to force a double team or chip so Lowry can bull rush weaker guards. On the other side they like to run stunts with Clark and Brown. Unfortunately (for GB) the secondary hasn’t held up long enough for coverage sacks, and all the stunts and positionless DL alignments have been exploited by opposing rushing attacks. -
Tim Harmston: The Packers Should Try To Skip The Bills Game
Buffalo Junction replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall
I’m actually surprised by how horrible their defense has been. There’s no excuse for it with all the talent they have on that side of the ball. Just bad coaching with no adjustments. Seems like the DBs have checked out. -
Trade Deadline (Nov 1) Bills Rumors / Speculation
Buffalo Junction replied to Warriorspikes51's topic in The Stadium Wall
True, but I feel the majority of fans would be in favor of suffering a few down seasons if Beane pushed all the chips into the middle of the table and nabbed a SB victory. -
Closest “town” to my cabin.

A body to go along with the draft pick. Certainly not the cheapest option, but he does get the tough yards, is used to a committee, and would be reliable if Singletary gets injured. Plus, he’s used to horrible blocking and loaded boxes, so there’s potentially some upside with 17, 14, and 13 forcing teams to play nickel.
-
I’d swap Moss for Montgomery in a heartbeat. He’s a powerback with excellent contact balance and good vision that’s averaged 3.9 yards behind the most anemic Oline in the league and no passing attack to move safeties out of the box. Be a great compliment to Singletary and Cook.

Yup. Dorsey has been moving him around to exploit matchups a lot more than Daboll did. Yup. Dorsey has been moving him around to exploit matchups a lot more than Daboll did. -

Right before hopping on the hamburger train. -
IIRC he basically blanked Jamar Chase, but Boyd and Higgins went off on the rest of the secondary.

So globetrotters vs generals

Ravens and Lamar do not reach contract agreement
Buffalo Junction replied to Steel City Mafia's topic in The Stadium Wall
The simple point to make is…. Look at John Brown’s stats after Lamar replaced Flacco. He racked up 715 yards and 5 TDs that season. 558 yards and 4 TDs were in the first 8 games when Flacco (injured in game 9) was the QB. The year after with Allen as his QB Brown posted 1060 yards and 6 TDs. -
Sideline TEMPERATURE Dolphins v Vikings
Buffalo Junction replied to DallasBillsFan1's topic in The Stadium Wall
Could also double down and build a field level tunnel that creates an open channel from Lake Erie right down the visitors side and out of the stadium. It could potentially double the wind speed on the visitors side which would be brutal from late November through January. 🤷♂️ -

Davonte Adams should be suspended a game
Buffalo Junction replied to transplantbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
I’m sure they will pay the guy to make it go away. The question is whether the guy is willing to take 1) a reasonable amount of money, 2) sign a NDA and 3) drop charges. If the photographer decides to go all in and try for $10+ million and continue pressing charges this could get dragged out for a very long time with appeals to move the case, etc. We’ll find out soon enough though. The NFL and Adams probably want this to just go away. -

Buffalo Junction replied to transplantbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Charges are probably a means to gain leverage for the lawsuit. I’m sure Adams’ lawyers are already digging through the freelance photographers social media, etc to find out if he is a long term chiefs fan, litigious, etc. They can also attempt to move any trial outside of the area due to jury bias due from fandom as well. This could be interesting if it isn’t settled and swept under the rug. Regardless of that, there will definitely be some changes to protocol going forward. There will be language written into contracts with networks and freelance employees. Likely extra security clearing out the tunnels….
