  1. Rousseau will likely improve next year, and I’d be absolutely content with an 8-10 sack LDE that can fight through doubles to set the edge. He’s on a similar trajectory as Cameron Jordan, so we’ll see. His next step is learning how to win against double teams on pass downs. He looked average at best against the pass when he was the only DL getting focused on with Jones and Oliver out of the rotation. Basham has been a dud so far. No reason he should take enough snaps to keep Rousseau at a 40 something percent snap count. Epenesa I can live with as a 4th DE if he keeps improving as he can at least win some 1 v 1’s. By the end of the season he had 6.5 sacks, 5 PDs, 2 FF, and 7 TFLs.
  2. If you take his sack per game percentage and apply it to 17 games instead of the 13 he played then Rousseau was on pace for 10.5 sacks.
  3. If they’re spending real money I’d rather see it spent on the offensive line. Heck, if Allen is gonna cost $20MM then Beane could probably get Allen Lazard and a starting guard for that same price which would improve our run and screen blocking.
  4. At least eliminate the FA’s off that list…. Barkley, Hunt, Jacobs, Mattison, Montgomery, Jamal Williams, Miles Sanders, etc. Some will definitely be resigned and some will move around, but those backfields won’t be the same. I highly doubt Singletary will get $5.5MM (I’d prefer Beane spend that $ on a guard), but he’ll definitely get some decent cash and land in a spot where he gets some real usage. If I had to guess I’d go with 3 years $10-$12MM in a split roll. He had rather good games against Cleveland, Chicago, and Detroit all of which may be looking to replace a RB in their rotation along with the Raiders and a few others. Factor in his pass blocking and he’ll find a home and some solid money. He’s also versed in our system which will translate to NYG, LV, and NE.
  5. Seems as though one is getting info from the Broncos front office, and the other is getting info from agents.
  6. You could probably say the same thing about Mike McCarthy. 🤷‍♂️
  7. Due to the fan vote linemen get extra pro bowls from name recognition after they earn their first. Most fans don’t pay attention to O line players and just vote for the names they know. It’s absolutely laughable. Knox makes sense more as an alternate. He was tied for 5th in TDs, averaged over 10 yards a catch, and tends to have a few highlight plays a year while catching 73% of his targets.
  8. This is what I’m hoping for…. I want to see all that bravado turn into an 0-4 SB, can Burrow get it done, are they jinxed discussions all off season.
  9. Maybe, but if that’s what they’re looking for they’d be better served with a Lee Smith/Marcedes Lewis type who specializes at blocking and is nfl proven. 🤷‍♂️. These guys cost less than $3MM a year, and you can trust them to be more effective against a Von Miller or Myles Garrett than a rookie. It’s all about cost benefit and time. Want to win this year, add a vet. Lord knows McD isn’t gonna play a rookie anyways.
  10. Upgrading TE2 would be excellent. However, I’m not sure drafting a TE is the best route if the goal is winning now. TE’s more often than not take 2-3 years to develop, and tend to be lackluster blockers until the second half of their careers. The guys who are ready day one tend to be top-20 picks, and even then they can take a while to develop blocking skills. If this upcoming season is the concern then trying to get a guy like Robert Tonyan in FA on an affordable contract would probably be a better option.
  11. The Miami game seems to play into this as well…. They were getting pushed around until it started to snow then they did the pushing.
  12. He was McDermotts db coach, worked his way up, and then took over for McDermott. He should know the scheme well. 🤷‍♂️
  13. In the OPs defense…. Two were to Milano and Edmunds…. Detracting from his point…. One interception was to Tre White. 😂
  14. 8 teams. Single elimination. Every team has a bye between the regular season and playoffs. Eliminate a preseason game to make room for the bye.
  15. And almost the entire rotation is former first rounders and probowlers. The amount of talent they have on the D-line is insane. It kind of makes one wonder about the talent difference and how to go about making a d-line rotation hyper effective.
  16. I’d love them to nab Ejiro Evero if he doesn’t get a HC gig. He’s worked under Kiffin, Dom Capers, Wade, Raheem Morris, and Fangio so he’s experienced with multiple personnel groupings and schemes.
  17. In Apple’s defense…. He might actually be that ignorant and incompetent. 🤷‍♂️ “I worry about him because of off-the-field issues,” one scout said. “The kid has no life skills. At all. Can’t cook. Just a baby. He’s not first round for me. He scares me to death.”
  18. They certainly are. I’m of the opinion that you probably need to take a chance on a few guys who are high end talent over character, injury, experience concerns coming out if you want to find difference makers outside of the top 10-20. Rousseau is an example of that as well with his Covid year off. Simmons… https://www.tennessean.com/story/sports/nfl/titans/2019/04/26/titans-jeffery-simmons-video/3585708002/ Lawrence… https://www.si.com/.amp/college/2018/12/24/clemson-dexter-lawrence-drug-test-ostarine-fail-college-football-playoff
  19. IIRC, Lawrence failed a PEE test and was held out of the college playoffs…. and Simmons wasn’t invited to the combine after a video leaked out of him hitting a woman and he took a plea deal for assault.
  20. He gets it from his momma
  21. I have no clue what’s going on with the Broncos after the Hackett firing, but if they’re cleaning house I’d be all for replacing Frazier with Ejiro Evero. All his players love him, and his scheme would likely mesh with McDermotts. He may be. However, he’s still growing into who he is as a player. Rousseau will likely keep improving, especially since he missed a year from Covid… He simply wasn’t equipped to beat the double teams and extra chips he caught after Von went down. Maybe a few more counters and weight training. One thing I will say…. Regardless of which drafted D-line player we want to bring up (Groot, Basham, Epenesa, Oliver, etc) they haven’t lifted up to their draft status or developed at a normal pace. Either they were poor picks for our scheme, Frazier failed with concepts, or Eric Washington failed to coach them up. I certainly don’t have the answer to that equation, but it certainly seemed like Bill Teerlinck got better results from some of the same talent (Shaq, Phillips). 🤷‍♂️
  22. The equipment guy… “The shoes? The shoes. It’s gotta be the shoes.”
  23. To an extent, but you can only play with the pieces you have. im not gonna say Daboll would be better than McD, but he was certainly better than Dorsey this season in some critical spots
