Watch Washington, Tampa and Seatle

They could go edge as well. Gute likes trenches

Gotta keep it Philly and go Teddy Pendergrass “when somebody loves you back”. Peaches and Herb is for the Commanders. We get Rick James and Goo Goo Dolls…. Lou Gramm/Foreigner if you want to stretch to Rochester.
-
Falcons gonna falcon.
-
Maybe, but he probably won’t get past NE and the packers unless the legal stuff is really legit.
-
Absolutely. He knows what he’s doing. I always thought the Packers screwed up by letting him walk out the door and letting Thompson stay in charge.
-
It’s all about the gummer
-
Nope. Schneider Likes DBs and BPA. That track record goes back to his time in Green Bay. Dude’s a genius at finding DB talent. Nick Collins, Sam Shields, Richard Sherman, Woolen, etc.
-
Agree. High floor. Kind of makes me think of Orakpo where the ridiculous ceiling isn’t there (slightly higher), but you’re getting 10 sacks for every 16-17 games he plays. Just consistent production in the pass rush and reliable against the run.

Tomorrow should be more interesting

It’s definitely not what most folks are thinking about. Honestly, a 2 TE offense could work. Could…. But there are some massive caveats. It’d have to be a PA heavy offense with a probowl back, elite deep threat, top ten Oline, all pro TE, and a second TE that was a borderline probowl player. Both the TEs would likely need to be capable being spread out too. It’s a mix you’d need to stumble into when you have an OC capable of exploiting matchups.
-
I assume you’re excluding H-back from the TE category to eliminate the Redskins from the definition…. Modern era I agree, although the Packers ran a lot of it as a base offense with Kuhn as H-back when they won with Rodgers, particularly down the stretch when Starks took over at RB. Granted, their TEs that year were more like TE/WR tweeners and it was a personnel grouping that McCarthy used a lot in previous years.

It’s always QB and the trenches that dictate success. Without those in place the skill positions can’t be effective.

Top end running backs have value on their rookie contract. The issue is that their value generally deteriorates before a second contract. In contrast, if you hit on a QB you have a 15-20 year starter, LT, WR or DE you have a 10-15 year starter, CB or DT it’s 7-12 years. RBs are done by 27-30 y/o in the modern era unless they’re Frank Gore, AD or a rotational player. Look at the Packers…. As amazing as Aaron Jones is they drafted a hammer (Dillon) to take a bunch of the tough carries off his plate and extend his value. It’s a viable option in a run heavy offense, but not ideal unless you have QB, LT, RT, DE, WR and CB set which that team does. The Eagles are in a similar boat. This team still needs a DE to take over after Von, a RT to establish consistency, same with guard, WR, MLB…. Getting a hammer in a later round to extend Cooks value is a better plan than getting a top back with a premium pick that could solidify more critical positions with better long term value. Heck, a rookie that can play guard for a year or two before sliding to center when Morse leaves might be a better use of early assets. I love great running backs because they’re fun to watch and draw secondary assets into the box, but they’re limited when the Oline can’t block, WRs aren’t separating, and the defense can’t get a stop. Given Beane’s track record in round two I’m just glad that Cook looks like a hit instead of a miss. 🤷♂️

Might also indicate Dorsey having a desire to shift to 12 personnel and more focus on the run. IIRC, he played with Shockey, Winslow II, Gore, Portis, McGahee, Roscoe Parish, and Andre Johnson. I wouldn’t be surprised to see any of those type of players added to the roster.

The extra levels of commitment are insane. You see it in a lot of professions, but in sports it’s easier to notice, especially now that it’s one of the few merit based high profile professions in the public eye…. The focus, commitment, buy in, and sacrifice required to reach the pinnacles of achievement wash out a lot of guys before natural/genetic talent is even factored in. I’m college you’re not allowed to fully sacrifice and commit, so talent reigns more on the playing field where the margins are larger.
-
Sometimes elite players emerge, but it usually takes the later round guys 2-3 seasons to do so. I’m sure there’s someone who’s been overlooked or a physical freak who hasn’t been developed due to small school or something in this draft class. Who that is??? No one will know ahead of time. Just makes me think of Elvis Dumervil, Jason Peters, John Randall, Hardy Nickerson, etc. There’s usually at least one of two in a class that turn into HOF talents.

Definitely has more tread than average. Could be a boon down the stretch if Harris goes down.
-
Not necessarily. He’s 33 playing a position where guy’s generally age out 3-5 years earlier due to physicality. He may be perfectly happy preserving his body a bit, making a million, taking a mentor role and getting a shot at a ring. 🤷♂️ Heck, he might even be interested in coaching after he retires. If that’s the case being around in a lesser role could be a benefit. Who knows.

GOAT debate related to era Montana vs Brady
Buffalo Junction replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall
Regarding the last paragraph. People tend to forget that there was a massive amount of coaching turnover when Walsh left. Dennis Green left first, then Holmgren who took Sherman Lewis, Ray Rhodes, Jon Gruden, etc. Steve Young took over with the roster intact, but the prior offensive coaches were gone. Granted Holmgren was replaced with Mike Shanahan. None of the Brady to Montana stuff is apples to apples. Montana played in an era where dynasties were more prevalent, QBs could be brutalized, there was no FA, the USFL sniped top talent, speed could be neutralized with physicality, etc. The top of the league had a concentration of talent, and the moribund franchises couldn’t over pay for it (why I view Young’s time as a Buc a bad indicator of his talent). -
Lamar Jackson wants guarantees that exceed Watson contract
Buffalo Junction replied to SCBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
That likely was a large part of why they accepted those contracts. They realize they’re competing against each other and they’ll need that extra lineman, wr, etc. They’re also aware that winning gets endorsement cash. Heck, Montana still gets endorsements. -
Calais Campbell *update beane said no visit scheduled
Buffalo Junction replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yup, a 6’ 3” 250 pound future HOFer whose pass rushing moves don’t directly translate to Rouseau’s body type and physical tool kit. I’m all for an extra vet that can help younger guys improve, particularly if they come at a low ring chasing price and can effectively fill the same role in McDermotts rotation. If you prefer Jonathan, Shaq or a rookie to fill that role I understand…. I just don’t have the faith in Eric Washington to expect improvements there. 🤷♂️ Didn’t know that -

This. Groot could learn a lot from him about how to maximize leverage and set up pass rushing moves with reach. Epenesa at 6’5” could probably learn some things too. If Campbell is willing to be a mentor this could be a boon going forward for the younger pass rushers.
