Favorite TV Show/Cartoon Show
Typical TBD Guy replied to taterhill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
"The Kelso" will take a stab at this OT subject. Here's how I rank the 5 options: 1. Family Guy - Buy the 2 DVD sets (Seasons 1-3) immediately. Leave work early. BUY THEM NOW. 2. Simpsons - started out as The Godfather 1 and 2 of cartoon sitcoms, but has gradually turned into The Godfather 3. 3. South Park - not a very good show without all of the recent political satire episodes (which have been pure GOLD IMO). 4. Futurama - decent. 5. King of the Hill - awful. -
The OLine isn't that good people!

I thought it was all Drew's fault. Now it's all Henry's? -

Fair enough. Consider Jennings a goner, then. -

A rumor is all it was. Jennings was on an Atlanta radio station interview 2 years ago and said that it would be great to play for his hometown Falcons someday. Interpret that how you will, but I think it was mostly just him doing the usual kissing up to radio guys and their audience (of Falcons fans). Jennings has also repeatedly stated that he'd love to finish his career in Buffalo, by the way. All in all, I suspect it will all come down to $$$. He'll go wherever they pay him the most $$$. And he'll probably give both Buffalo and Atlanta a slight "hometown discount" like Moulds did, except that Atlanta currently has no need for another LT like Jennings. -
Oh man, that final game of the season is going to be sweet. Even if we're not playing for anything other than pride...I bet Mularkey can't wait for that one...

How about some Praise for McNally?
Typical TBD Guy replied to mtdoak's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not sure about that assessment. Have we already forgotten Henry's previous two 1K yd+ seasons? No, Henry clearly didn't bring his "A" game for the first 6 games of the season; but then again, our OL in those games didn't even bring a "C-" game. Henry would frequently get hit behind the line of scrimmage before he could even begin any forward momentum. This still happens to McGahee on occasion, but not nearly as often as it did to Henry early in the season. Realistically, we should have expected an OL with a brand new offensive system and brand new guards to have such problems early on and get better as the season progressed. And for the past two months, we HAVE seen improved OL play - some of it McGahee's help as a result of his particular running style - but nevertheless, a lot of it just plain better OL play. Thank you, Mr. McNally. Perhaps you CAN walk on water... -
Is Pat Williams and Jonas jennings likely gone
Typical TBD Guy replied to Rudyc80's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I never said injuries weren't a problem with Jennings. What I was saying was that, when healthy and in the game, Jennings is well above "mediocrity." Price is a solid backup. And if Jonas wants too much money in the offseason, fine. Let him walk. But if TD's Plan B for 2005 is Marcus Price starting for an entire 16 game season at LT...well then we just took one giant step backward. -
Is Pat Williams and Jonas jennings likely gone
Typical TBD Guy replied to Rudyc80's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mediocrity at tackle??? Where do you guys come up with this stuff? His only bad game this year was his first game against the Jets, a game where he admittedly wasn't 100% healthy while going up against John Abraham. -
K Vinatieri TE Antonio Gates Those two as Bills would make me happy! At least 4 former Bills I see on that list: RB Antowain Smith C Tom Nutten CB Jimmy Williams S Keion Carpenter
-
Don't forget Terrence McGee. And the 2002 draft isn't looking quite as disastrous as it was a couple months ago, given Mike Williams' major improvement at RT.

positions to adress with draft & FA
Typical TBD Guy replied to ch19079's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Only 4 major changes I'd like to see: 1. New K: We'll never go beyond the first round of the playoffs without a guy who can consistently kick within the 40yd-49yd range. 2. New LG: Ross Tucker and Lawrence Smith are nothing more than overachieving NFL backups. If we can find a real bulldozer for this position, watch McGahee's numbers skyrocket in 2005, because right now our running game has been struggling a bit on the left side. 3. New TE: I might be content with Campbell in 2005, but if there's a real gem in free agency or the draft, Tom & Tom need to go after that guy without hesitation. New Bledsoe = RJ, but New Bledsoe + Coates-type player = Old Bledsoe? 4. New FB: Same feelings for Shelton as I have for Campbell. New Bledsoe = RJ, but New Bledsoe + Gash-type player = Old Bledsoe? Keep in mind that my recommendations are based on salary cap numbers as well as quality of play. That's why I think we should stick with Teague at C, play Vincent at FS, keep Bledsoe as starter or backup depending on Losman's improvement, and leave Posey at OLB. I'd leave the defense mostly as it is. We don't need to mortgage the future by paying for an All-Pro CB or DE when we're still somehow a top 5 Defense with the likes of McGee and Kelsay, 2 guys who have improved dramatically in only their second years. And Pat Williams, at his age, will come cheap ($1.25-1.75 million). Jennings, with his injury history, should also be affordable. -
I'm in complete agreement with you, BillsNYC. Until/unless we are mathematically eliminated, consider me a Bledsoe Apologist.

If you read only 1 playoff scenario thread,
Typical TBD Guy replied to Typical TBD Guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thanks for all the compliments. I wanted to do something special for my "look-at-me" celebratory 1,000th post rather than explain how Bledsoe still sucks or how Vincent had his knee replaced with a vagina. Here are a few additions to my week-by-week printable schedule, accounting for the possibilities that the Colts, Chargers, and Steelers could each collapse (an exclamation mark means pay very close attention to the outcome of that game; that outcome will have an immediate effect on the mathematical probability of the Bills' playoff chances, a number too small to bother computing at this time...): WEEK 13: Bills over Dolphins !!! Chargers over Broncos ! Bengals over Ravens ! Texans over Jets ! Steelers over Jaguars ! Browns over Patriots Titans over Colts WEEK 14: Bills over Browns !!! Dolphins over Broncos ! Giants over Ravens ! Steelers over Jets ! Bears over Jaguars ! Colts over Texans **- unless Texans lose to Jets in Week 13 Bengals over Patriots Bucs over Chargers WEEK 15: Bills over Bengals !!! Packers over Jaguars ! Seahawks over Jets ! Chiefs over Broncos ! Colts vs. Ravens ! **- depends on AFC South and North Division Races Steelers over Giants Dolphins over Patriots Browns over Chargers Bears over Texans WEEK 16: Bills over 49ers !!! Titans over Broncos ! Patriots over Jets ! Texans over Jaguars ! **- unless both teams are 8-6 at this point Steelers over Ravens ! **- unless both teams are 10-4 at this point Colts vs. Chargers **- depends on AFC South and West Division Races WEEK 17: Bills over Steelers !!! Dolphins over Ravens ! Rams over Jets ! Raiders over Jaguars ! Colts vs. Broncos ! **- depends on AFC South and West Division Races 49ers over Patriots Browns over Texans Chiefs over Chargers I'll continue updating this thread as long as the Bills are still mathematically alive in the playoff race. -
Assuming our beloved Bills win all 5 remaining games - and our chances drop to virtually 0% if we don't do so (thanks, in large part, to our horrible record vs. AFC opponents) - here's what we need to make the playoffs: 4 of these 5 scenarios need to happen for the #6 seed; all 5 need to happen for the #5 seed: 1. Texans lose at least 1 game (extremely likely, given that they play the Jets away, the Colts at home, and the Jaguars away). 2. Jaguars lose at least 2 games (very likely, given that they play the Packers away and the Steelers at home). 3. Broncos lose at least 3 games (not likely, unless they can lose to the Chiefs in KC). 4. Ravens lose at least 3 games (I'd say not likely, unless they can lose to the Bengals at home). 5. Jets either lose at least 4 games or they lose all 3 remaining AFC games (seems unlikely until you take a closer look at their brutal remaining schedule and factor in the Pennington injury along with the Jets' overrated record against many of the easy teams that the Bills have yet to play). Week by week breakdown of who Bills fans need to root for: (Note: this is obviously subject to change if either the Steelers or Colts or Chargers decide to have a complete meltdown): (Another note: I added all Steelers and Patriots games in this list because a lot of you want the Steelers to be resting their starters by week 17. In my opinion, who cares? If the Bills are still in the playoff race by the final game - at home, with a 6 game winning streak - the Steelers are the ones who should be the underdogs... But anyway, we'd need the Steelers rather than the Pats to be on top by week 17 because the Steelers play 3 teams that we need to lose, while the Pats only play 1.) WEEK 13: Bills over Dolphins Texans over Jets Chargers over Broncos Bengals over Ravens Steelers over Jaguars Browns over Patriots WEEK 14: Bills over Browns Colts over Texans Dolphins over Broncos Giants over Ravens Bears over Jaguars Steelers over Jets Bengals over Patriots WEEK 15: Bills over Bengals Bears over Texans Packers over Jaguars Chiefs over Broncos Colts over Ravens Seahawks over Jets Steelers over Giants Dolphins over Patriots WEEK 16: Bills over 49ers Titans over Broncos Texans over Jaguars (except in the possible situation that both teams are 8-6 at this point) Steelers over Ravens Patriots over Jets WEEK 17: Bills over Steelers Colts over Broncos Browns over Texans Raiders over Jaguars Rams over Jets Dolphins over Ravens 49ers over Patriots P.S.: If you are tempted to post "let's take it one game at a time" or "sorry Kelso but the playoff aren't going to happen," DON'T.

My opinion exactly. Sorry Mickey. While I agree with you that Ann Coulter and some of her cronies are right-wing nut jobs, I think Ann is actually right about that one. But here are some facts, so the rest of you can make up your own mind about Kwanzaa. link

Take the world's smallest political quiz
Typical TBD Guy replied to Wham Rocks's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Yes, it is. -
Dear Olivier: I realize bashing America has now become the #2 sport in Western Europe (right behind soccer aka fag football), but do try to focus on your country's own problems first before offering to solve ours. Here's a few: 1. Poor assimilation of the rapidly growing radical Muslim immigrant population (currently at about 8% of the total French population, I believe). 2. Low birth rates (only 11 new births per 1K people a year) that, in about 20 more years, will threaten the fiscal vitality of your country's numerous social programs. 3. Your country's role in the UN Oil-for-Food scandal. 4. Government instability in the Ivory Coast and in all the other imperial remnants of your once more globally relevant country. 5. Rise of anti-Semitism within the French culture and among France's high government leadership. 6. A financially destitute military that couldn't stop a 7-11 robbery, let alone an invading country. Take care. - Kelso's Helmet P.S. Go do a self-examination of your testicles and make sure they're not actually ovaries that somehow "fell down."

Well, I see you focused in on the various Hot Pocket words I've used in this thread like "piss" and "porno." That's a start, but for further assistance in your reading comprehensions problems, please consult the counseling services at Clown College. Now to respond to the content of your post: Internet and cable TV don't follow the same federal guidelines that regular TV follows. Therefore, parents know that they will have to apply internet filters or cable V-chips when allowing their children unsupervised use of these mediums. However, in the case of regular prime-time TV, parents are watching with the assumption that certain federally-guided expectations of decency are being applied. So when ABC shows stuff on MNF at 9pm Eastern time that doesn't fit these common decency standards, the parents are caught off guard and call in to complain as a result. This is what all the outcry was about. This is my last post on this subject. If you want to respond again, that's fine. But I won't. Somehow you've taken my posts' content and in turn labeled me as some sort of ultra religious right wing wacko offended by anything sexual on TV. Not sure how you did that, but it happened. But hey, give yourself a tally mark in your TSW win column if you must. It's back to "Drew sucks" threads for Kelso...

It's hypocritical, but maybe it's because Janet's tit was too in-your-face, while the under 13 crowd probably doesn't get what the boner pill ads are about anyway...
-
You've done a good job pointing out some obvious hypocricies throughout this thread, but don't forget that some children don't have the type of responsible parents that you had. What are they to do when they're constantly inundated with this stevestojan on TV? I'm not saying I have the answer, but my point is that this whole argument isn't as black and white as "naked back: bad" or "naked back: who cares?"
-
No, actually you did. Your reading comprehension skills are piss-poor. Do you perhaps attend the same Clown College as njsue? My post was about respecting the opinions of others (the NFL/ABC viewing community that phoned in to complain) over my own personal wishes. I, like you, enjoy politically incorrect humor, sexual innuendos, violence, and naked women. However, unlike you, I'm more than willing to refer to the cable network channels (Comedy Central, MTV, HBO, etc...) to get this fix and let the parents/families have NBC, ABC, CBS etc. during prime time hours. It's called compromise; it's how civilizations function like they do. I don't feel the need to force my own personal interests and entertainment agenda down the throats of everyone else; you apparently do. We both may not share the same limits of common decency as those so-called "right-wing lunatics," but at least I show some respect for their values; you apparently don't.
-
Wow! Thank you for completely missing my point.
-
Ice: I don't share your sky is falling opinion about the D. As I've said before, we're too often imposing '85 Bears D-type standards on our own, yet if our offense could do the bare minimum to support our defense, maybe we wouldn't be complaining as much. I think both Kelsay and McGee have shown lots of improvement in their second year (keep in mind that both didn't become full time starters on D until the past month). I also think Posey and Clements are doing a good job. Plus, injuries to Milloy and Vincent didn't help us. As for the offense, I really don't even know where to begin. Er, scratch that. I do. Let's bench Bledsoe for Matthews and/or Losman and see how the rest of the line and WR's/TE's do with a changing of the guard. If things improve, great. If they don't, well at least we'll have a better idea of what needs to be done over the offseason.
-
Really, I don't understand why so many people do NOT have a problem with this. I'm a 23 year old guy who likes breasts, vaginas, sexual innuendos, and the like just as much as any other human male. But I also realize that there is a time and place for that in our daily lives. If I want to see that stuff, I can easily change the channel to a cable network or check out the internet or my porn collection, etc... And I also realize that there are families out there with kids between the ages of 3-12 (or so) who don't want to have to explain these things yet to their children. The non-cable networks, around 9pm, should be a safe haven for these families. If you really can't stand watching football without the sex aspect, then go buy a second TV and flip in a porno simultaneously with the game. Or better yet, go find a - gasp! - actual woman and bang the !@#$ out of her during the MNF commercials.
