Whats everyone's beef with McGee
Typical TBD Guy replied to brihs2005's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think McGee is a very capable #2 corner in this league. He has a great nose for the ball and a short term memory for bad plays. Having said that, drafting another CB is critical. Who knows whether Clements will stay beyond 2005, and you can never have enough good CB's for your nickel and dime formations. -
For the Nugent fans he was 12/15 but

Bills to be a non factor next season
Typical TBD Guy replied to HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You're partly right. In all honesty, I feel like we would have already made the playoffs if we played in any other division outside this one. We all saw how the NFC West made Drew Bledsoe look like a Pro Bowler! But the last sentence in your post really irks me. Read again what you posted... Trying hard shouldn't be "MORE than good enough." If I was the Bills GM, I GUARANTEE you that I would try VERY hard. But that doesn't mean you'd be content with me as your team's GM, does it? -

Are these the "circumstances"??? 1. Gregg Williams was a mistake. 2. Drew Bledsoe was a mistake. 3. 2002 draft was a near-total failure. -
Bills to be a non factor next season

No, I completely respect your opinion and perfectly understand where you're coming from. I have no problem with the Bills managing the cap wisely and being competitive year in and year out. But the problem with TD is that he's done the former very well and not the latter. Also, many will argue (especially Fin fans since 1984) that it's better to be very excellent a few years and very bad the next few rather than pretty good every year but not good enough to win a Super Bowl (or in our case, just making the playoffs). -

Is it now? Under your time frame, by the time our offense gets it together - assuming JP IS a success - our aging D will need to be replaced. -

Yeah, seriously. Did you know that only 5 other NFL teams exist with a playoff drought as long as ours or worse? Bengals - 1990 Cards - 1998 Lions - 1999 Skins - 1999 Jags - 1999 OUR TEAM - 1999 Some quality company, eh? I've given this franchise a 3 year mulligan (2000-2002) because of the whole salary cap jail situation, but since 2003 the direction of this team has flat out pissed me off. Teflon Tom is on the hot seat with me, even though I know such negativity is not generally welcome with the regulars on this board. He does just enough to market the team and maintain interest, but when the regular season comes along, we find ourselves again with a paper tiger core of players that fold under pressure. No more excuses in 2005. I don't care if JP stinks up the joint. We have the #2 NFL D, #1 ST minus Lindell, and a running game with a very bright future. Such a formula allowed the Steelers to go 15-1. Given the competitiveness of the AFC East, I'd say 10-6 and a 6th seed isn't being overly demanding as a loyal Bills fan. Is it? -
I'm not here to discuss whether or not we can financially keep PW. What I want to know is how comfortable you all are if we do decide to stick with Edwards and let Williams walk. Here's a general breakdown between the two: Williams: 6-3, 317lb, 7 yrs experience, age 32, Texas A&M Edwards: 6-3, 320 lb, 4 yrs experience, age 25, Texas A&M I believe PW is generally regarded as the vastly superior run stuffer, but that Edwards may actually be a little better in rushing the passer than PW. Is that really true? IMO, I'm pretty comfortable in letting Williams leave if he wants that $5 million a year contract which I suspect he will get from a team like the Vikings. Really, how vital was PW to our run stuffing game when he missed almost 50% of the plays (not his decision but the coaches...I understand that...but do you pay a guy who isn't in on 50% of the plays that much $$$?) Aren't we supposed to stop the run with "numbers" anyway, as Gregg Williams once so famously stated about our 46 D? Discuss.

A new Barry Bonds thread.
Typical TBD Guy replied to OnTheRocks's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And just for your record, steroids are and have been an illegal substance in the US for years. So while pro baseball has never said they were bad, US law already did. Unless a sports league can overrule US law???? You can't circumvent this. Bonds was a cheater. So were a lot of other baseball players. MLB is a sham league, and has now moved the once national pastime into a ranking right below basketball and just above hockey. The end. -

The way I sees it, you have two options: 1. Become a Cowboys fan. 2. Wipe the Drew man juice from your mouth and get on board the JP bandwagon. Sure, JP may be a failure. But our professional coaching/scouting staff thinks he won't be. I'll trust their opinion over those of TSW, no? -

It does when you look at the salary cap ramifications. -
The starters: LT Mike Williams LG Dave Wahle (GB FA) C Jonas Jennings RG Chris Villarial RT LJ Shelton (ARIZ FA) The backups: T Marcus Price T Dylan McFarland G/C Ross Tucker G/C Ben Sobieski Yeah, I know. JJ won't want to come back here and play C...although if he wanted to, he has the potential to be a top 5 NFL C. And who knows if Wahle will be available or would want to come play for a rookie QB. But if this all were to happen, under McNally's tutelage, this would easily give us the best OL in the NFL, right? Oh, so close....! Come on, TD. Git er done!

I could see us going CB in round 2. We could lose Clements AND McGee next year, you know...

Great Description of State of Bills
Typical TBD Guy replied to Astrobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You're right. LB depth is a concern, but this can easily be addressed in the middle rounds of the draft. I don't think Posey needs to be upgraded. How many plays can a LB make when he has two other Pro Bowl LB'ers roaming the field? Somehow, though, Gray needs to get him rushing the passer more. I'm going to get major stevestojan for this, but I think we should STICK WITH RIAN LINDELL. My reasons for this absurdity? 1. Nugent is a pipe dream. 2. Who else is out there that's noticeably better than Lindell? Name 'em! And Christie is not coming back, so who else besides Mr. Lindell knows our stadium winds? Schobel and Kelsay are no J Peppers or Bruce Smiths, but how easy is it to get one of those types? And PW and SA are getting old, but this year isn't the year to find their replecements (assuming, of course, PW signs with us). -

Typical TBD Guy replied to Thailog80's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No one is saying JP will be our savior. We're saying that JP COULD be our savior, or he could be a bust. We all know what Drew can do for us, and it's not good enough. Even TD agrees with us Drew Bashers that Drew cannot get it done. And the 3 ring SB Pats would probably agree with us, too. So there you go. The opinion of 2 pro football organizations (not to mention some of the other 30 like the Arizona Cards who want nothing to do with Bledsoe) against that of you, njsue, and a few other delusional Bills fans. Now njsue and a few others will argue that Drew can lead us to the promised land if he just has a better LT, LG, C, TE, and WR. But these certain people are obviously unaware of the salary cap. That's not possible, without also having to sacrifice our #2 D in the years ahead. -

Jeebus... Bad comparison. Bledsoe is no Aikman circa 1992. He's a 12 year vet who has been playing like a scrub for the past 6 years. -
