  1. What flavor are you drinking right now? Rasberry? Lemon-lime?
  2. 2002 was the last time we overachieved. It's been all downhill since then.
  3. Plus coaching. We are an OL, DL, QB, head coach, OC, and DC away from making the playoffs.
  4. Sure. Compared to Stew Barber he is.
  5. It should be obvious to all now. The Rooneys clearly made the right move by choosing Cowher over Teflon Tom.
  6. Anyone here still want to defend Teflon Tom? Marck, how about you? "Excellent GM?" Give me a !@#$ing break .
  7. Who cares whether Bills fans have given up on the team?! All I care about is whether or not the actual Bills team has given up on themselves. And today will give us a better indication if they have. The Bucs and Falcons, teams that should respectively be 4-0 and 3-1 by this afternoon, may be the cream of the NFC crop. Couple this with the fact that our QB is still going through an NFL rookie's natural growing pains, and we may not be all that bad... However, this positive notion will go right out the window if we lose to the Saints today. I don't care how pumped the Saints are in their first real home game; they're not a good team, they have lots of key injuries, and our Bills ought to be equally pumped about winning after getting creamed in the past 2 weeks. Go Bills! 2-2 is better than 1-3!
  8. Ideologues lay claim to no limited IQ range. Some are smart like Mickey, and some are on the level of blzrul. Same goes for the righties. All you need to read on this thread is Post #12 by OnTheRocks and post #42 by OGTEleven. #12 provides the context of Bill Bennet's remarks, and #42 explains why Bennett used the analogy of aborting black babies instead of poor babies. End of story. Even if BB is a racist, be it of the blatant conscious type or the subtle subconscious type, the evidence is not to be found this week. Maybe next....
  9. If we do cut Mike Williams next year, it will probably have to be after June 1 because the accelerated cap hit should be enormous. This whole MW situation would be much easier if Mike just agreed to a reduced salary. He's not a bad RT at all; it's his contract that makes him wear the scarlet "B" on his jersey, B standing of course for Bust.
  10. I don't have a problem with your optimism at all. I just wonder why you feel the urge to call out every single poster who says something negative. Couldn't you just ignore them, or do you feel that you can singlehandedly stop it all with a few clicks of the mouse and a few punches of the keyboard? The season is young. You are 100% correct on that, and I still share a lot of your optimism...believe it or not. Otherwise, why would I bother continuing with this thread? But I also have no problem with Bills fans being critical of their team, one that has been seemingly spinning its wheels ever since year 2 of the TD regime. If they/we need to vent the frustration at times, so be it...
  11. I have ZERO problem with keeping Moulds, as long as his contract doesn't get in the way of re-signing Clements. And yes, I can understand having drafted Mike Williams at #4. But the problem lies in what to do about him now. Should we bail on him or keep extending his bloated contract into the future? I say let's bail on him this offseason if he doesn't show us anything this season. We can find a competent RT for probably a quarter of his price, and in turn can convert that money into Clements' contract or into more players on the O-line.
  12. A winning team that nevertheless missed the playoffs and folded badly against nearly all of the upper tier AFC competition on the schedule. What are you today, the Optimism Crusader? The negativity on this board will stop as soon as the fans are given some sort of evidence that this team is on the right track under Tom Donahoe. I can't speak for every fan here, but for me evidence will be in the form of a single playoff appearance at some point during his stay as Bills GM.
  13. I'd rather tie up a lot of money in Clements than in Mike Williams or Eric Moulds. That was the intimation in my first post. My apologies if it came out overly negative. I like McGee a lot, but only as a #2 CB. And I, too, want a stud DT to pair with Sam Adams, but I think we can accomplish both (Clements and the stud DT) within the confines of next year's cap. Not only is the cap expected to increase a lot next year, but there's also some dead weight that can be trimmed.
  14. I'm sorry, but there is and will continue to be a huge dropoff from Clements to McGee...which BTW says nothing negative about McGee but only that Clements is truly that good.
  15. Salary cap jail would be a good guess. It seems to be Tommy Boy's favorite excuse, though it certainly WAS a legitimate excuse early in his tenure: Year 1: salary cap jail, Rob Johnson Year 2: salary cap jail, Eddie Robinson Year 3: Gregg Williams, Kevin Gilbride Year 4: Mike Mularkey's first year, Drew Bledsoe Year 5: JP Losman’s first year, TKO's Achilles tendon?? Year 6: Fill in the blank... Years 7-??: won't be a year 7 or beyond if we don't make the playoffs by next season
  16. Just like how Ron Edwards took over for Pat Williams? Wonderful. In the meantime, while we let our 27 year old star CB walk, Mike Williams continues to earn his 8 million plus and 33 year old Moulds his 11 million plus. Simply wonderful.
  17. OK, I agree with that. I don't like the blind negativity either, though the occasional bharami98 type of meltdown is glorious fun for all! But I'll take negative posts that are backed well with facts and/or possible solutions over the rose colored glasses posts that always say, "Bills rule! Final score, Bills: 100, Saints: -100." But that's just me. OK, I'll go back to wallowing in my misery now
  18. Wait a minute. Only 7 of 32 NFL teams have had a below .500 record since 2001? Does that seem inaccurate to anyone else here? Someone clarify, please.
  19. Then I strongly suggest you try learning to deal with the negativity on this board as well as you deal with the actual Bills game losses. People come here to talk Bills football, both the good and the bad. When the Bills are playing bad football - like they have in the past two weeks - you've got to expect that the discussions will be more negative. And if you can't deal with it, then either don't read the boards after a loss or block the users that tend to be overly negative and whose posts you don't enjoy reading.
  20. But marck wants to give TD a pass for his first year (2001), which I think is perfectly fair. Therefore, your list should extend to 9 other teams besides the Bills that haven't made the playoffs in the past 3 seasons: Dolphins, Jags, Texans, Bengals, Redskins, Bears, Lions, Saints, and Cards. And so to answer the original question demanding us to name a better GM than TD, I'd have to say that a fair handful could be found among the 22 other franchises not named above. What's probably closer to reality is that TD is a "mediocre GM" rather than an "excellent GM" as marck stated. And mediocrity is quite replaceable.
  21. I'm going to remain skeptical until the team clinches a playoff berth.
  22. No. Posey's contract is up after next season.
  23. Please e-mail this prediction to TKO. Men like TKO, McGahee, Julian Peterson, etc... thrive on adversity like this when most others would quit just hearing about the length and intensity of the impending physical rehab process. If you ask me, this would be more fuel for the fire that is TKO's will.
  24. ...or totally deflated by the tb and atlanta games
  25. Wow, we haven't played a MNF game since the 2000 season
