Bills agree to trade with Texans

A slow, crappy white guy playing safety...who does that remind me of....oh yeah, Coy Wire! And who was that "genius" who used his 3rd round pick on Wire? -

Which would have been spent on a 5'2", 120 lb flanker. -
Why is it that there are many Sabres Related posts
Typical TBD Guy replied to The Poojer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed. If you must talk about the Yankees on a football board, take that sh-- on over to Jets or Giants sites. I'm surprised more of you aren't Indians, Pirates, or Blue Jays fans. Especially the Indians. Buffalo is closer - in terms of both geography and culture - to Cleveland than crappy-ass NYC/Westchester/LI. -
OL and DL do not concern me as much
Typical TBD Guy replied to Chicken Wing '73's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Tommy D, is that you? THE NEGLECT OF THE LINES NEEDS TO STOP NOW. Evans, Davis, Everett, Parrish are all potential playmakers in the open field. McGahee would be a Pro Bowl player with a decent OL and a coach who will use him on 3rd down. This is a good general blueprint we should have in the draft, more or less: 1st round - DT 2nd round - OT 3rd round, A - DE 3rd round, B - G DAY 2 - all the offensive playmakers your heart desires -
a couple more FA names to throw around

Marv would be foolish to ignore EVERY player who wasn't in their 20's. There are players in their 30's who are still productive in this league. Johnstone is not much older than Denney, by the way... The best teams have a good mix of veterans, rookies, and guys in their primes (20's). As for Arrington, it is absurd to think he's too expensive. Once Moulds is traded, not a single free agent will be too expensive for the Bills. What are we saving all this cap space for anyway??? It doesn't add on to next year. You either use it or lose it. I hope Ralphie and Marv know they can't take this cap space with them into the afterlife I'm looking for more commentary on these two - particularly their on-the-field performance and how they might fit into Jauron's cover-2. -
I was looking at the free agent leftovers, and I noticed these two guys are still around. I'm familiar with both of them (insert the usual "i've heard of him! Git er done, Marv!" joke here), so I thought I'd see what the rest of you think of these guys. Lance Johnstone - 10 year vet from the Vikings, 255 lb pass rushing specialist, averages about 7 sacks a season. LaVarr Arrington - 7 year vet from the Skins, major talent but played undisciplined in Greggo's system. ???

Kiper on tonight's Sportcenter..first round mock
Typical TBD Guy replied to Stl Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Even so, Bunkley doesn't sound like one of "Marv's guys." On college production alone (so ignoring his Flowers-esque workouts and Larsen-esque strength and RJ-esque body fat percentage), he'd be a reach at #8. Ngata seems to be able to do everything Bunkley can do and more. He'd sometimes command triple teams in college games. He'd even drop back in coverage on occasion. He has the speed to rush the passer with the best of 'em if needed. He had the stamina to play every down. If we go DT, we go Ngata...just my opinion...I know you've watched a lot more Bunkley games than I...but you also may be a hopeless FSU homer . -
We should draft a lineman with every pick
Typical TBD Guy replied to Stl Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Marv could do a lot worse than draft the best available lineman (OL or DL) for each and every pick. Maybe our needs at WR, LB, and S will suffer a bit, but none of these positions are in as dire straits as are the lines. -
Forget Houston! Dial the Vikes, they're about to

What's funny is that TD was probably saying something similar to that quote in the War Room last year, after having just lost Jennings and Pat Williams to free agency. -
Sabres end their losing streak!
Typical TBD Guy replied to HtownBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There's possibly a contradiction within your post. On one hand, you say that the reality of Sabres hockey is that we'll always be spending 25% less than the elite teams. Then on the other hand, you say that the future is bright because of all our good, young talent. But how do we expect to RETAIN our good, young talent if we always have a monetary handicap? Are we destined to be a perpetual farm club for the elite teams, or are Darcy/Golisano going to stop being cheapskates and open up the wallets this offseason? What are we playing for, anyway? To win a Stanley Cup now for Buffalo? Or to give our young guys valuable experience that they can use to help their new teams 2-3 years from now win a Stanley Cup? Also, FWIW, I think Sabres fans have every right to B word about DR's inability to address the team's need for better defensemen. As great of a job he's done this season (there's no denying that), he could have done even BETTER if he had been more aggressive in the offseason and season for defensive help. -
If the Bills trade/release Moulds
Typical TBD Guy replied to jahnyc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, I'm still trying to figure out what Marv plans to do with all that extra cap space. Who's left out there that's worth signing? Is Marv targeting the June 1st cuts? -
Sabres end their losing streak!
Typical TBD Guy replied to HtownBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And now we're starting a new losing streak ! We lost 3-1 to Devils tonight. IMO, this isn't simply a losing spell. The Sabres are not an elite hockey team yet. There are problem areas that need to be aggressively addressed in free agency this offseason. It's been a fun year, and making the playoffs is a huge, positive step from a couple seasons ago where our franchise was facing extinction. But let's face the reality - we need better defensemen and an elite goal scorer if we want to seriously challenge the Ottawas of the league. -
Some people around here think Marv the Head Coach was overrated - that Polian and the players were the reason for Marv's success. The Super Bowl losses still sting with these people - his perceived inability to control his partying team or outwit opposing Hall of Fame coaches (Gibbs and Parcells). Now these same people see Marv the GM as little more than a desperate PR move on Ralph's part. Some of the Marv haters are also nothing more than bitter TD apologists, and others are just a-holes who haven't been getting any lately from the wife. Take their sh-- for what it's worth.

I feel the same way, JimBob. Points #4 and #5 are important, but oddly enough aren't mentioned that often around here. And it's sounding like a 4th from the Texans is the best we could possibly get, which is not even close to what Moulds is worth to this team (didn't our backup RB, Henry, get us a 3rd ?). Also, a lot of the negative comments about the Bills may be coming from Moulds' agent - not Eric himself. If we don't make Moulds take a paycut, I bet he will eventually come around to accepting this team. Does he have any other choice? Not playing this season will cost him money and, for a guy on the wrong side of 30, seriously damage his remaining career.

If that actually turned out to be true, it would be safe to call the Levy Era a bust.

What the HELL is going on in the Sopranos
Typical TBD Guy replied to stevestojan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, I'm still trying to figure out the strange Carmela-Angie relationship. Maybe Carmela is jealous because Angie got off her lazy mob-wife ass, decided to join the rest of the modern world, and earn her way through this world without the help of a man? Just speculatin'. -
Sure it's possible, but my opinion is that Buffalo is simply not as good as Ottawa or Carolina. Until we get some better defensemen, we may be destined for a quick 2nd round playoff exit.

What a great episode! The cut-and-paste job they did with Chef's lines was absolutely hilarious. And the Super Friends pedophilia club metaphor of the Scientology wackos was a thing of beauty. FYI, there's a nationwide boycott of Cruise's new movie, MI3. Cruise, the CofS, and censoring of freedom of speech all need to stop. PUT YOUR MONEY WHERE YOUR MOUTH IS AND DON'T GO SEE MI3. These delusional Hollywood !@#$tards need to feel it where it hurts the most - their wallet. -
Remember Erik Flowers? Sorry to pick on you, but I think that when comparing Ngata with Bunkley, we should focus mainly on their performance on the college football field. And from what I've heard about Ngata (I've admittedly never seen him play), he's a 3-down guy who made a bigger impact on the field than Bunkley did in college. Ngata is also fast enough that Oregon even had him drop back in coverage on some plays! So just because he's 50 pounds heavier than Bunkley, that doesn't necessarily mean he's not fast enough to be a 1-gap penetrating DT in a cover-2 D. The problems with Ngata seem to be that he has potential motivation issues and injury issues...but I'm not sure of the validity of these arguments. With Bunkley, over and over again I keep reading how no one thinks he's a blue chip talent (outside of TSW)...more like a late-first round talent. Then again, there's the case of Dwight Freeney....so I won't continue this debate any further! I will say, though, that with a team as devoid of talent as the Bills are, at #8 we can't afford to reach with this pick. We need to find the best player available - defined by most impact with least likelihood to bust. So if someone like AJ Hawk is still there with Ngata and/or Bunkley, my choice would be someone like AJ Hawk.
-
I definitely like what Marv is doing, but I also would have liked to see 1-2 major "name" signings at OL and/or DL. Not only because it would have helped the team and because we still have the cap space to do so, but also because it would boost team marketing...right now, I can't imagine that the Bills are even close to breaking even in season ticket sales from last year.

We should trade EM now while he still has value.
Typical TBD Guy replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why the H-E-double hockey sticks would we want to trade Moulds at this point?! Certainly not for the extra cap space. With the frugal Golden Boys at control, we're having a hard enough time as it is trying to use up the current cap space. -

Loved this episode! I like action and I like murders, but I also appreciate the slow episodes that build the drama and give the characters more depth. Quick thoughts on future storylines: 1. Van Helsing ( ) thinking he's Michael Corleone by the end of this series...with Fredo Corleone results? 2. Power struggle of Vito vs. the crew while Tony S. isn't around...Finn could be in some deep sh--, and yes that was an intentional pun! 3. NJ vs. NY power struggle - Phil is gonna play a HUGE role in the coming episodes. 4. I don't think we've seen the last of Pontecorvo's wife. Wasn't she also the woman in Tony's dream? Just too many people around who resent Tony S. now...
